i have a amber fathom bmx bike its a spanish bottom bracket. i take the crank arms off but that rod or whatever you call it wont com out so how do i get it out.PLEASE HELP
You need to learn the new bottom bracket tech. BB 30 is NOT press fit. SRAM has a system called BB 30 PRESS FIT and that system does not need the super tight specs that reguar BB 30 needs. The bearings come installed in a nylon casing and you press the whole thing into the bottom bracket eliminating the C clips that you have to install inside a normal BB 30 bottom bracket. This standard is better that regualar BB 30 in my opinion and it's lighter than reguar BB 30 or so I heard.
@gbpker4life an american is a huge bb, a mid is well... middle size, and a spanish is extremely small. on an american the shit all threads in some how, so look for two notches in the cups.
yeaah but you will need a different spindle and to buy the bearings you can buy new cranks withan axle and a same size bearings but if you want to save money and spend ages looking you can get a same size axle with the smae amount of splines and the same size...but that will take ages lol
u should not use the hammer directly on the bearing you could damage it best way to install that style bb is to put a threaded rod best fit the hole and washer each side and nuts either end just crank and let them pull themselves in dont do what he does here and risk breaking your bearings
i cant find any simple explination of how to just tighten a bottom bracket, i have a haro f3 if that makes a difference. get back to me with any tips / ideas please
if its one of them ones with a bolt on it, take of the bolt and washer and put a flat headed screwdriver in the little groove on the ring and turn it till it doesnt move arounds...thats about as goo as i can explain it
will that fit a fitting that is a 175mm? im not sure bout the mid bb i have standard and i want to upgrade to a better bearing please reply back at zackjlang thanks.
They are designed to be desposable, they are maintanence free and never need to be removed, you will destroy them by removing them, if you take your cranks off a little blast of oil or grease should keep them lubed up.
uh. dumbass.. he said he wasnt greasing em cause they were going to br sold. so there not messing round with the frames to much. so they dont lose there 'new' value.
man you grease it, that's just mean if you don't, use a rubber hammer or the axel and washers technique, that's cheap when you just hammer it in, they'll only last about a month

move your spacer to the side, put your spindle on the middle of the bearings and use a rubble mallet.

You should use a rubber mallet/hammer.
Its better.
This helped a lot.
Thanks.

how can i get the "press (whatever) bottom bracket" out of the frame? thx for answer
BMXriedl 3 years ago
Ya because we all want our bearings rusted solid into our frames.
Rb26R34 3 years ago
dumbfucks he said the frame was 4 some1 else they might not have wanted it greased
sk8erboy6619 4 years ago
I'm sure he neglected most of the things you normally wouldn't when assembling your own bike just to keep the video length down..
falloutyear 4 years ago
Why make the video then?
Rb26R34 4 years ago
To show you the basics.. He said that normally you would grease it ;).
falloutyear 4 years ago
How long does it take to grease a freaking bearing cup?! I'm sure in the time he said he would he could've done it.
Rb26R34 4 years ago
Why you gettin mad?
falloutyear 4 years ago
I'm not, I just won't trust empire with anything bmx from now on :)
Rb26R34 4 years ago
Wouldn't want him working on my bike :S... What a tool.
Rb26R34 4 years ago
why would you want someone working on your bike anyway
madaboutrc 3 years ago
if u dont know what ur are doing genius

Most would just look it up, chances are if you send your bike in then it will come out worse.
