Dude, don't diss the Inkheart trilogy. They're great books, and you do movie preview, stuff.....so you have no right to diss a book trilogy. Try reading the triolgy sometime.
"Bride Wars. How much do you want?" hehe When I first saw an ad for this movie I serioulsy believed it to be a SNL Parody where Ann Hathaway and Kate Hudson were Hosting. But a full blown movie. What is the premise exactly? Why can't they change the date? Who cares? Let it be the same day. What's the real problem, most weddings are basically family only, so what are they related? If so how can SISTERS not know when each other's wedding date is, if they are this close. So many logical questions!
I went to see Inkheart. I mean it had everything you could possibly want in terms of nerdy fantasy movie, but it didn't get interesting until the end and then even that was slightly gimicky and disappointing. Compared to something like City of Ember, which is a book written for the same age group, City of Ember was better visually and had better structured as movie.
Brendan Fraser is a great actor and really funny, but Inkheart was a clear miss.
Jimmy crack corn batman! whats with all the fighting for this video's comment section? i haven't seen that in the other videos. MPC i think you may have said something that made people upset. quick say something nice about Disney and promo mall cop! you'll be in good praises. lol.
i hats all yur shat cuz yur gay an stopid an fate an gay an nobodee like u cuz evrybody hats u which id y yur gay an fate an stewpid an nobidie likes yur shat.
Inkheart was blah. Brandon Frasier needs to shave those curly bangs of his right off and take some drama classes. Or at least practice facial expression and delivery.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that next week's Coraline is stop motion. The last stop motion I ever saw in theatre was Wallace & Gromit. So I'll see that & Slumdog next week. :)
Also, I would totally buy your books. And on another note, Anne Hathaway has a bunch of nominations to fall back on AND a Tim Burton film, to boot.
Most of the characters were well written, three dimensional people. The ending was the weakest part, but it was at least satisfying. It seemed to do it's best to deliberately root out common cliches. My only problem is that the story itself was a little weaker than it should have been. The story was a little jerky, and you didn't feel any real rising tension. it was as if it went straight up to high in the first 30 minutes.
Just saw Gran Torino on Saturday night. I'll give you th background info. It was minus 41C that night, we arrived a half hour before the showing, and the theatre was already half-full. It was demographically split with men and women, young and old. Very good movie BTW, but that's why I picked it over the others showing. You can't go wrong with a Clint Eastwood movie. Still iffy on Underworld 3, considering I own the previous 2 movies on DVD.
As soon as you start using a lot of numbers and percentages in one sentence, you're losing me. Try using graphs, shouldn't take much time.
Also, I'd like to see the movieposter of the movie you're talking about. Doesn't have to be fullscreen, a small pic would suffice. Makes it easier to follow.
you should SERIOUSLY do a radio show man. I always hear the radio in the morning driving to school and its boring as hell! This is actually entertaining!
I can probably get you a hook-up with something on the radio MPC. Not making any promises but a lot of people would love listening to a movie expert talk about movies and if they're good or not.
Ratchetcomand is right. The Dark Knight is a great movie and, to my surprise, I know people who haven't seen it yet. For those asking why the re-release in theaters, one word: Oscars. By doing so at the height of Oscar-voting, it will do two things:
1: Increase the already huge crowd of people who like this movie to increase the chances of winning and-
2: Breaking the 1 billion mark. As of Jna.9, the movie mad $997,049,935. Who thinks it can cross the 1 billion mark?
I think the reason they don't use numbers as often is because more and more sequels aren't direct follow-ups to the original. Superman II followed Superman I, but Batman Returns did not follow Batman in terms of story. I believe numbers should used in sequel titles if they are direct follow-ups to their predecessor and continue where movie 1 left off.
its not called underworld 3 cause its not a fucking sequel, its a prequel, it is the third film but technically it would be underworld 0, but since that doesnt sound good it was called underworld rise of the lycans.
I hear you. It's a tough call, especially when prequels enter the mix. Mabye a subtitle after the number. I just like knowing the order of a series without having to memorize the titles and know the mythology. Imagine some fresh viewers in video store looking at the 3 titles, "Okay, let's watch the first one" "sounds good, which one is that?" It's a silly example, and all you have to do is read the back of the box and look at the year to figure it out, still, it seems like a marketing game
You know it's sad that back then people made movies for fun and like it very much. Now today they just make them for the freaken money and don't even put any planning or creativity in them.
[contd] The title is a literal translation, which doesn't actually sound as good in English. Inkheart=Tintenherz and Inkdeath=Tintentod. If you knew how to pronounce Tintentod you'd agree with me it sounds more ominous.
Considering how good Inkheart actually is, it's just upsetting that it got more respect in Europe than in the US.
I hear ya. The preview makes it seem kind of generic. I think the marketing tries to make it feel like something we already know...I also felt it seemed like "The Seeker"....that's the problem. A few years back, "Fight Club" was poorly marketed and it made jack sh*t, it wasn't until DVD that it got some respect. Maybe the same will happen for Inkheart. And, I can see how the power is lost in the translation.
Your comment about Inkheart angered me a little, but I realise you're just looking at this through the eyes and stats of Hollywood, so let me explain.
The fact that Inkheart made so little in the states means its advertising must've been terrible. I've seen it and it's actually rather good and Brenden Fraser was in his best role for a long time. Now Inkheart is actually an adaptation of German books (meaning that the movie was hyped to maximum in Germany). [cont]
Another week goes to Paul Blart, ho-hum.... Not that there were any more deserving titles ((except Slumdog Millionaire of course, the 80% increase is great for a movie that's actually good)).
My friend saw "My Bloody Valentine 3D" and said it was awful, but apparently this really super-special-cool-awesome bullet scene made up for it.
I just found out the original "My Bloody Valintine" was filmed near where I live, Cape Breton ((Due to all the mines we have)).
Cha ching 3:Come on I know your holding out on me what that is that some change jingling in your pocket? Come on! Cough it up! Or as it was known as a few years ago Spider-Man 3! I liked but you know it's true.
I admit to seeing Paul Blart but I was doing a paper all day got out late and had to do another the next day and didn't have 5 hours for Benjamin Button.
Thanks for the props! Good call on Spidey 3...wish that one would've been better :(
I actually saw Paul Blart this weekend...went with a group of friends and they wanted to laugh and...there was no other comedy, so had to bite the bullet.
It's cliche comedy. Decent laughs, gags, but nothing new or challenging and not that inspired. Wish it would've demanded more of itself.
And seriously, BB is like 8 hours...note to the Oscars, long doesn't always = great.
I'm secretly hoping if they make an Underworld TV show it will usher in an unintentional rebirth of the fantasy themed saturday evening epics. Remember Hercules? Xena? Firefly? Bring those back! I want to watch something other then insulting crime dramas or ponderous and muddled science fiction shows (I'm looking at you Battlestar...)
Good call, I miss shows like that too. I hope they give it to like a Michael J Strasinski type of showrunner that can execute a big picture vision of a show instead of a week to week, how much advertising dollars are we generating movitivation. Thanks for your always on point feedback!

I enjoyed the Underworld movies. The third one was my favroite because I'm big on Werewolf.
But that is true about January, it is the month were the movies that wouldn't stand a chance in any other month.
But I do like movies coming out from Jan. to April because we need some good, fun movie to entertain us.
I'm glad to see that Gran Torino is doing well. Clint might not mind not getting the oscars nomination and might be happy with the money it is making.
