now read this: If you have a swimming pool in your backyard, set your deepfryer next to the pool for safety, if it catch of fire, take a long pull and push the fryer in the pool and thats it ha ha
@sideslide23 ya, then you have a flaming pool. remember, water and oil don't mix. the oil will run across the surface of the water and probably follow it into the filter system. god knows what till happen next.
Agreed. Sideslide23 has the worst advice ever. Put some oil into a pan, get it hot, then drop a splash of water in it. At the very least you will have learnt a lesson. At best you wont be able to have children and the gene pool will be better off.
You don't need that much since the turkey is large and tends to push the oil level way up, not to mention the way hot oil tend to bubble up when something is placed into it.
Also, the bird should be almost at room temp before placing it in there.
...fried turkey rocks! But deserve bush? NOBODY deserves that creep....you should go create a nuke-a-ler war elsewhere. and yes, i'm from the US of A.
It's not that he put it in wrong; he had too much oil. Anyone who has ever boiled water knows that you don't fill it too full for your pot. The difference is that hot oil is much hotter and water can't catch fire (except on Lake Erie near Cleveland).
Lord this is how you keep this from happening. It's so simple. You take the turkey and put it in the pot. Then take a hose and fill the pot up till the water covers the turkey. Then take a magnet,or marker,to mark the water line.that is now your oil line. Empty the pot, wipe dry or turn on flame and evaporate moister from pot for five min, then add oil. then when right temp..lower slowly and u got a safe fryer. Also keep that tank as far away from fryer as possible!!You damn near blew yourself up!!

Protip: Leave the burner on when dropping the turkey. The spilled oil will then ignite, resulting in a dangerous and very impressive fire.

Why do most of these jerks overfill the oil??
