  • good job (any tabs anyone) berksman50@yahoo.co.uk

    cheers sleepwalk freak

  • What did you try to do?

  • What delay do you use?

  • @Twangabilly

    Roland SpaceEcho.

  • I like this stile, but I agree with daaron44 about the delay.

  • slighly less delay and it's perfect^^ good job

  • Awesome! *****

  • Comment removed

  • I actually like the delay you've got going there. Adds to the dreaminess that sleepwalk always seemed to carry with itsself

  • love your tone man! great song too. what amp are you using?

  • your hands seem full with the guitar you're playing...how bout you send me the one behind you...

  • Yes it is too much delay if you want the sound Setzer had, but I like the sound of this too.

  • Is it hailing in your room?

  • @Joshuanorris1980 Some people like the og version. Like the cover that Jeff Beck plays. That's the way I do it.

  • too much delay!!

  • RICHIE!!!!!!

  • The playing is excellent, but I think the reverb is distorting too much. That makes it sound somewhat dissonant at times. I can't quite tell if it's just the amp, the reverb or maybe both. Maybe it's just a long delay(?) reverb or something the notes seem to linger a little too much at times due to the reverb.

  • Nice bud love the song

  • MONSTER tone dude... awesome... keep rocking

  • Great playing, cool tone. Screw the haters.

There's a certain kind of effete douchebag that has no confidence in his own musical taste, so he sits around waiting to be told what music to like. Unless some "authority" (public radio, Vintage Guitar magazine, etc etc) blesses a musician or a style or a tone, it's "against the rules" and should be sneered at.

If you're such a tight-ass sissy that this tone upsets you, I'm not sure rock and roll is for you. Try Jane Austen or something.

  • Nice playing and nice guitar!

  • man that thing sounds fkn good. i always loved gretsch's.

  • 143 people adore Justin Beiber and haven't got a clue as to what creativity means. Congrats straymouse. As a musician myself, I can appreciate your style and commend you on your hard work. Most people say " Ah, how hard is it to just strum that thing?" and don't even take in account the countless hours spent practicing and practicing. Keep up the good work and ROCK ON!

  • Well done, easy on the delay though!

  • lovin it. wicked. :-)

  • Well Done!

    Great Stuff.

  • Well done! The guitar is beautiful as is the other in the background. You might be interested in Sparrow Guitars. EncoreV has the last remaining US stock and they are selling them at wholesale prices at encorev.com These are high quality instruments with custome hand painted finishes. Each of them is one of kind.

  • This is pretty awesome! Seems a bit fast, though. I wish the recording quality was better. I don't think there's too much reverb, but I don't think the camera holds it well.

  • very nice....you just sent me far away with this...wish i had a guitar like that! :)

I am thinking of buying the Nashville 6120 what do you think?

  • This is a very very nice version, good playing.

    I like the reverb. :D

  • Badass!!! Fuck all those Haters!!!!!

  • I like this version! The best way to cover an old song is to do it Your way, the way YOU interpret , hear, & feel the song. Taking elements of the original & making it your own instead of just duplicating a song exact is good! You did very well! As for your 'over-dive' The original live version, did have an overdriven distortion to the lead lap-steel guitar. You can barely hear the rhythm! What matters most is if you like what you played?! If you do, then you did an outstanding job!

  • 138 people who have been trying to stick this song.

  • sounds nice man..

  • Very nice, Very good talented player, I have been playing guitar a long time and this guy is good, How the fk is there 138 dislikes? Oh I get he has allot of ex girlfreinds ahahahahahaha when you play good guitar you always get the girls.

  • I love the feedback and distortion, it gives it a haunting atmosphere.

I wish i could play guitar like you, great job.

  • One of the great things about "Sleewalk' is its so versital for guitarist. As a player you can make it your own. Some play it as close to the original as possible. Others experiment with it. Yours is good in it own right, but many people will only like the original sound and won't like yours. Bottom line if you like it, enjoy it. I did.

  • another great cover my friend :O)...learning this at the moment...just need a gretsch lol...one day!

  • nice version it sounds very authentic and i liked that you did it YOUR WAY it sounds like i was back in the day after hotrodding all night and going home.

  • Nicely played, I don't understand these 100+ dislikes.

i wish I could play it this way!!

  • good guitar

  • @Joshuanorris1980

Thank you so much for your comment. I was encouraged by your comment.

  • How terrible ! I would never have the nerve to post something this bad for other people to hear. Doesn't even sound like Sleepwalk !

  • people say "too much reverb" and that may be true but I like it because the sound makes it seem like its being played in the 50s. and I love OLD music :)

  • @janin101 Ma version sur lapsteel inspiration Shadows

  • koop een metronoom

  • You got a nice pick´n ....... BUT, your amp setting is ! ¤£ + & $ in plain english : Damn.

  • you should lisen to the song first cause you suck bad

  • "Oh, I'm just gonna sit here and play my Gretsch while there's another Gretsch in the background. Don't mind that one, though. It's just a little orange thing I picked up forty years ago. "

  • I think the Gretsch,s are brighter

  • you are ruinning the beautiful voice of that babe with too much effects,i once saw a guy shredding on gretsch haha they can do everything but doing that on a gretsch is a bit sacrilegous haha nice playing exellent toys pals, thanks now do another video with a cleaner sound and more twang come on show what those filtertrons can do,see ya.

  • This sounds very close to the version on choo choo hot fish. Good work. Screw all the people who are critical of the effects.

  • Why does this have 300,000 views and he has so many gretsches?? I'd die for one, and I know how to play this song really well at the age of just 17 :(

  • Really nice job! All I can say is a little less reverb and turn down the delay volume

  • Way too many effects. But then Setzer's version is the best ever so It is have to compare to that...

  • I love it, its fantastic and I like your tone. Have you this on tab or own arrangement?

  • i kinda like this tone actually, tone is subjective.

  • Comment removed

  • Great version man - Guitar tone, musicianship, reverb and delay all nail it for me....Thanx for makin' me smile - rock on!!

  • Great Job!!!!!!!!!

  • the jury has reached it verdict...it's well played but you ruined it with the distortion...it's irritating to listen to. lose the effects dude.

  • @thozzman Juries are made up of peers. Run your vid and we'll see. Otherwise ...

  • Nice guitar,lame guitar player

  • the best version of this song is the Ventures with a steel player playing with them. it,s on the net- go to the ventures site-sorry i don, tlike the sound here at all-waaaaaaaay too much echo, reverb, dis.only chet atkins could of made agood solo out of it if he wanted too because he plays fingerstyle-he has it on a album but, uses backup players and plays mostly single string on it-it really doesn,t lend itself to be a great solo piece anyway or chet would have done it that way

  • wayyyyy to much reverb---you played the notes right but man get off the effects and this song demands single notes--very clean---and that ax is made for this arrangement--jus do it clean and its gonna be beautiful--i've been playing 50 yrs now so i kindda got a clue--jus construtional critism bro--keep it up bro

  • @8276205 I like it. It's well played & a bit different then the cleaner versions.

  • this is terrible

  • too much FX

  • Beautiful -- thank you for posing this.

  • oh man, this is hard to listen to.... O.o

  • So you dug the Choo-Choo Hot Fish albumn too, huh?

  • Give the guy a break. He worked hard on this arrangement, and it sounded better than my previous attempts. Well done sir

  • WAY too much processing, you totally detroyed the unique and beautiful sound of that 6120. I have the Chet Atkins model, I know what they're supposed to sound like!

  • Great job, id like to learn this one, I did a video of Ritchie Valens version, I don't know how familiar you are with it but its a great version for a 17 year in the late 50s, you can check out mine on my channel if youd like.

  • @outlawsrodandKustom Ritchie Valens died a bit before this song was written. Are you reffering to the movie version?

  • @MELLSBAD ya i didnt know about that thanks though

  • ass holes play it how ya feel it thats wat its about

  • Why own two Gretches? I envy you but I just don't see the point of owning two of essentially the same gutar.

  • Are you Kevin Shields?

  • Dude, that delay and reverb is killing the song.

  • God, that is HORRIBLE! Did you get the amp for Christmas? For Pete's sake, learn how to use it.

  • great job stray, and the clasic sleepwalk tone is right in there for the "vintage" sound... i've played this model and these gretsch gals like to belt it out like the andrew sisters sang... keep on playin'!... thanks for the video!

  • yeah you need to tone down the distortion man then it will sound raw you still pretty good though

  • i liked it!

  • Is that a Roland Space Echo behind you?

  • a lot of reverb....nice that you have two Gretsch.....you mus be rich. see you!!!

  • I agree with harryflocyberman, you play great but your settings are too distorted and make the song sound trashy. Keep on the good work though.

  • no matter what,

    this sounds beautiful.

    your a great player.

  • Wow it's pretty good they're like waves

  • WOW.... SO SWEET SOUND......

  • arigatou!!

  • good playing, but buying the same guitar is an obsession...

  • Beautiful guitar. Is it an Amrican ?

    Good job.

    Eric - Studio ChinChan

  • let me have one!...i see u got two of them!

  • i enjoyed it, and most of you youtubers are fucking assholes. get a guitar and a girlfriend and calm down. maybe a bit to much distortion but hey. thats him. so keep your styles and let homie here have his.

  • Sounded good to me. The song is a classic, and doing it in the Setzer Style is just cool. Anyone criticizing the tone of a Gretsch obviously is a moron who doesn't know shit about guitars, and anyone who would criticize this song doesn't know jack shit about Rock and Roll or it's history. Maybe these dipshits and should just stick to playing guitar hero and stfu.

  • お前には一生ひけないよ(笑)

  • This guy have a Gretsch and all he can play is that crappy..FUCk! Are you deaf dudes?

  • @wacaraca

I'm not sure it anybody's deaf around here, but sure you're an ahole.

  • how the fuck does this have so many views?

  • well u just viewed it didn't you? There's your answer. ;)

  • wow! gretsch guitar are amazing!

  • Awesome.

  • I could give two shits about Setzer's version of Sleepwalk. This is cool.

  • r u deaf?stupid fuck

  • ???? ever hear of time? or perhaps the correct chords??

  • Brian Setzer V2.0

  • hey man! try an Ab with an F in the bass fer that 3rd chord . that old F minor just ain't got enuff nuance there pardner. love them gretschs though. keep practicing. that's how you get to carnegie hall, other than asking your cab driver.

  • can i have one of your guitars.

  • to much reverb

  • @keystoneice6 its his style man

  • All the fucking reverb and delay overkill ruined that, dude.

  • great work ! do u have any tablature of that arrangement? Id love to learn it.

  • Nice playing. I see an old Roland Space Echo there. cool beans.

  • GOSH that sound gave me a headache! If something is being put here, plz make sure it sounds good! playing and sound quality!

  • Giving it all that distortion makes it sound trashy, sorry, you got the fingers but your tone is bad.

  • Reverb ^^

  • @harryflocyberman

    agreed

  • Will you all stop fighting. Arguing over the internet is like competing in the special olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded.

  • nice job man, a lot of people dont appreciate the

era that this music these instuments actually inhabited.

Its another time and place and you brought that back.

Well done. Credit to Mr.Setzer tho, right?

  • Take your cat fight somewhere else, punks.

Sounds nice, though I'd like to hear less delay effect and a backing beat.

  • Sorry but your playing is painfull, plus the guitar sound like you are strangling a cat.

    Fender Stratocaster please.

  • fuck you with your fucking fender why do you look after gretschvideos if you wanna see a fender type fender in the fucking box

  • slow down fool i probably play the guitar better than you will ever do cuz i play classical guitar for 8 years and not just a riff fuck with a plek

nooby go and put your fender in ya ass

  • if you're that good you have to know that the guitar is not the fault so never say thinks like " get a fender first" its the sound quality the playing is might good

  • Who is saying that i´m so good ??, you are inventing words here, plus i never said get a fender first, ive owned many guitars over the years, i just prefer the fender straocaster to all others, i dont and have never liked these large hollow bodied guitars, thats all, if you put vids on you tube you have to accept what people´s view are, good and bad.

  • @SECblackmagic

Talkin about "no need to swear", have a look at your former posts.

You're an above average guitar player, I'll givve you that.

But spare us with "20 years recording" blablabla.

How successfull has it been if you still need to rant on youtube...

Anyway, your singing is, how can I put it..

It's not singing, more like talking with an extremely annyoing voice.

So maybe you should be more forgiving to this guy, he is way better in playing the guitar then you are in singing.

  • Mmmm, !! this is out of the blue i must say, i HAVE put guitar licks and lines down on recordings for over 20 years, i dont give a toss if you beleive me or not, i dont sing, i know !!! no need to tell me that, i play cos i enjoy it, unfortunetley a very few good musicians make it big, dont be an asshole with your stupid comments, we all have to eat, my music is my hobby, i am a motor mechanic, thats what puts food on our table.

    ok.

  • Oh and one more thing,!!!! i despise gretch guitars, the way the sound is painfull, the players who play them need help !!!!!. ok away you go, its over to you fairy cake !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh and one more fucking thing, i came across this vid whilst watching chet atkins videos, that how you asshole, someone who can really play so FUCK YOU !!!!!!!!!

  • These guitars scare the f*ck outta me

  • why is that?

  • They are huge....and look at that tremolo. It looks like a torture tool

  • I could see that

  • i love these classic guitars, thats funny they scare my little cousin for the same reason

  • Your performance gave me goosbumps... thank you for making me smile!

  • This was great man.

Any tips on lessing feedback for a hollow or semi-hollow guitar???

I play with this light O.D. and seem to get a lot of noise. Especially, a ton of shaking when using the bigsby.

  • Sit farther from the amp, take the reverb and delay back down a notch and don't aim the headstock at the speaker cone. (I have a ES-137 Custom and that's how I avoid feedback)

  • Just watching Setzer playing this in the studio and I actually think yours sounds better... his live version is pretty awesome though.

  • I played on a Gretsch about 3 weeks ago in a store.. Cant say I liked it..

Im not sure what kind it was but I didnt like the feel of it

  • beautiful Gretsch guitars..I bet these guitars are hard to play, you did a good job

  • hi from france, you have a great gretsch collection

    amazing

  • what an incredible guitar

  • Thanks for showing the fingerwork this this time around.Your setup looks f*7%$@#g awesome what with the Gretch"s and the Tweedle Dee Dee in the background.I agree the effects are a bit distracting for such a mellow tune but hey every version has its merit go for it. I like to see someone using the whammy bar its totally underreated in my opinion.

  • I think this is an awesome version of the song, is very well played and that all of these people don't really know what they are talking about :)

  • Very good but bad rythm !

  • Hi ! I know how it is to record a song, making a good take, recording it without the smallest "hesitation"; all things like that ; All of that to tell you that this is not a hating comment, I justy wanna be constructive. I think that there too much efects, and you play too often with the vibrato ; if not that, cool version, I've rated it as 5*. For the Gretsch too, I've recorded many songs with a Gretsch 6120's sound (with a Line6 Variax, & it sounded almost like yours). BYE !

  • sorry you can also play Gretsch guitar but you must buy a better sound and camera. And a little more exercise:)

  • I wish I could play one of theese...

Maybe you shake the guitar when using the tremolo and because of that it doesn't had to much effect.

    Keep going, sounds beautyfull

    nicolas1400: "youth", mf.

  • I just wanted to say I noticed how well you handle comments. I like your positive style, despite all the chaos. You have got guts to post work amidst so many armchair experts -- you handle it with style and flattery, quite effective.

  • too much guitar for yout playing, you are making her cry literally

  • She said that she is not overworked by me so she is very happy with me. lol

  • @nicolas1400 i'm back here about chet atkins and the ventures versions-mistake -the best version is jeff baxter on steel guitar with the ventures-itt's on here-ventures site- baxteris superb on steel and this song belongs on steel guitar anyway

  • @nicolas1400 i'm back here about chet atkins and the ventures versions-mistake -the best version is jeff baxter on steel guitar with the ventures-itt's on here-ventures site- baxteris superb on steel and this song belongs on steel guitar anyway-i'm mike from ga. not nicolas 1400-i,m puter stupid- everybody liston to the above version-ventures,jeff baxter together-the best version ever-jeff was with steely dan-remember reeling in the years-that jeff on lead in that group

  • gretschs are the most fuking beautiful guitars ever

  • Technique is okay, but you play sloppy and you loose rythmn.

you should really play with a metronome.

  • just a lil too much delay. other than that it was fine. good work!

  • The timing is out, I really think your playing would benefit with the use of a click track or metronome

  • just because you seem to own two Gretsch guitars, that is cool enough by itself..good song that is

  • Boy, almost everyone's an expert, eh? (referring to the comments.) One of my favorite songs, I wish I could play it that well. Thanks for the vid. I gave it a "pretty cool".

  • cool, but really too much hall.

  • Despite what everyone else is saying, I like it a lot and think it's very relaxing

  • thing is cool but the phaser is not really needed in this song

  • if you heard any version of setzer's sleepwalk- he has the same distortion

  • yeah, true. still somehow i feel this jazz tune be incompatible with the effect, however that's just me.

  • i think it rocked bro.

  • Your phrase timing is off. It sounds like you have not played it enough, to be considered proficient. i.e. stop and go vs. fluid and smooth. I imagine with three (3) months, of focused practice, your technical skill will improve.

    Good luck.

  • can you send me the chords please .Thanks

  • C Am Fm G

  • thanks Kyrt057

  • that guitar is beautiful! ive wanted one for some time. a little less reverb and that would of been perfect. not that it wasnt anyway! any chance of a tutorial mate?

  • is that a roland space echo in the back ??
