  • I have a 2204 head from 89 and this is my best amp to date

  • Is it only one channel or does it have a clean channel as well?

  • whats the exact model of your amp may i ask? :)

  • I had one for 20 years and sold it and have regretted it ever since

  • Another good amp for Cream, Zepp, Free, etc. sort of tones is a cranked Vox AC30, especially the CC2X. Great for dirty, bluesy stuff, and also an excellent clean amp.

  • Mind me asking what pickups you have?

  • hey man! can you tell me if there's a big difference between the high and low settings? or maybe do a video on it....? cause im gonna save up for this amp..and then use an A/B selector on the channels for rhythm and lead tones..but i wanna know how the low setting sounds like..you know does it have enough gain for a nice GNR rhythm tone?? or maybe something like a randy rhoads riffing tone..??? grtz

  • why would you ever sell it

  • BEEEEUTIFUL

  • Slash sound ? :L

  • @xXSlashBoiXx you can get a #36 modded ceriatone for $1000 including shipping from malaysia for the REAL slash sound...

  • sounds nice

  • The Judas Priest 82 Vengeance tour is thee metal sound imo. All jcm 800's.

  • I'm looking for a Kossoff/ Clapton (circa Cream) tone. It sounds like this will work just fine! or am I wrong? I am mainly using a BD-2 for a boost

  • @claptonhendrix1

This amp will work fine but if you really wanna nail the Cream era tone I suggest more of a plexi/jtm45 style amp with a different boost like a tube screamer or an OCD pedal. But in any event this amp will do the job.

  • man i have a dsl 100 and i thought that sounded good im looking to pair it with one of these. i found a 1986 for 700$ so im taking that deal right away

  • @thelefty300 actually a treble booster or mild fuzz would be a better option, as they are what clapton used at the time.

  • You should try the Marshall Vintage Modern. It has two dynamic ranges which open up a wide variety of tones. The low range will give you classic JTM tones, and the high range will give you high gain modern Marshall tones.

But, you can never go wrong with the JCM800 2203 or 2204!

  • @claptonhendrix1 You may also want to check out the Marshall 1974X If you are still looking for that 60's era tone

  • I have an early 80s JCM 800 I bought from a guy a few years ago. The cleans on it are amazing, and it has a sharper distortion than most 800s I've heard. Whether this is good or bad is personal preference.

Yes, you can DEFINITELY get an 80s metal sound with it. Ozzy, Ratt, Crue, GN'R, Metallica, that kind of stuff.

  • can u get those tones at bedroom volumes and w/ no pedals stock? i play GNR and GNR only! slash used it but the guy at my local shop sed that i doesnt have enuff gain

  • No, it's single channel so you have to turn the volume up all the way to get good distortion. Slash recorded Appetite For Destruction with the volume all the way up on the amp, which is one reason the tone is so good.

  • ok thnx. wat about the silver jubilee? will the JVM get his tone?

  • Yeah, the Jubilee will, but you still have to turn it up to overdrive it. The JVM can get his tone, but it doesn't sound quite as good as the JCM 800 or 2550.

  • @slashGNR5721 the jubilee was only used for CLEAN. Slash used a modded plexi tremolo for appetite and a MODDED jcm 800 for use your illusion 1 and 2. Appetite amp was the #36 mod done by frank levi and the illusions amp was the #34 mod also done by frank levi. Somewhat similar sound.. but not the same. also... see my comment above about the ceriatone. its much cheaper than all of the amps you listed and will get you better slash tone. \m/

  • DO NOT SELL YOUR MARSHALL

  • sweet sounding amp! Naybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but one day you're going to regret selling that! : )

  • Wow, that's a nice tone. Wouldn't mind getting one of these and pairing it with a nice tubescreamer or something for that really pushed thrash sound.

  • I used to keep a 808 Re-issue on my board for when I used this amp. It was by far the best pairing with amp. It really gave it a nice boost without mudding up the tone. That combo is an excellent choice.

  • did you sell this to a guy from Georgia?? named Kyle? just askin ha ha

  • Hey man. Nice amp and good chops. If I were to crank the volume, could I get a metal tone like Maiden or Early Metallica? Thanks in advance and KEEP ON ROCKING!

  • Yeah you can easily get that early metal tone when you crank it way up. You might wanna invest in some ear plugs and a good window replacement guy too. haha
