  • Yes it is, and this was a factory touch, not one done by me. Having said that, the whole DAC board is still somewhat subject to microphonics so there is further room for improvement there..

  • @mikefitzman Bought my Alpha 5 in 1994 it was a UK benchmark cd, still sounds great with an Audio lab amp today. reason im commenting i have got a tray gear cog on order is it an easy repair. Regards Paul.

  • @bmwnasher Not sure about the cog repair, but I would imagine it to be easy given that it's pretty straight forward on most drives. Good luck with it - these are very cool players!

  • @mikefitzman Many thanks.. ive had the lid off and it looks like the front and back comes off to lift the whole works, out as there is a plate underneath holding the cog in place. easy? Im runnig mine with mission 773s, and with all types of music i dont think the sound could be better. ... Cheers

  • @mikefitzman Did the arcam tray gear cog today. This video is the only one and thanks to it about lifting the DAC board off the pins i would have been stumped you cant do the job without removing it. the whole works has to come out of the case, She is running sweet now. Many Many thanks for this video.

  • Is the damped Xtal to cut down on microphonic effects?
