one thing people dont realize is that youtube has an automatic system that suspends an account if the audio or video is close enough to the original to fool the computer...thats probly what happened here...all fret had to do was submit a message via youtube sayin his videos were covers and he would still be here...but i think fret was just not worried about it enough to care haha....one helluva relaxed guy

I read somewhere that the reason the videos were taken down is that he got a recording contract and if so he would need to do that.....I just hope we will discover him on a CD some day!

I'm sure Fretkillr removed his videos. It is NOT copyright infringement to sing or play any song that has been released to the public. It is only copyright infringement if you were to broadcast the actual artist playing the song without permission. Freedom of speech my friend. I have just learned that Fretkillr is gone, and I am very sad. I understand the importance of protecting intellectual property rights, but the record companies are probably richer as a result of FK's performances - I would be willing to bet that, like me, many people have only become aware of certain songs as a result of FK's interpretations. When I saw that Fretkillr got suspended, my heart dropped. I really felt bad for days. I was kicking myself for not making any copies, and that all his work was lost. I'm so glad that a person had the foresight that I did not have, and had the kindness to share it with the world again. Of all Fretkillr's songs, I think this one is my favorite, and if I had not been able to listen to it again, I don't know what I'd do. I'm so glad to hear his beautiful voice again. Thank you.
I suppose they suspended fretkillr because he had the nerve to cover these songs so well. Interesting that they suspend him, but leave thousands of sh*t versions on. I suppose they consider those to be no threat. Of course, have you considered that the asses at youtube may ban you also? I am already furious at youtube for their upgrade, which is quirky and also lost hundreds of favorites I saved over many years.

@realradiodevil I don't know if anyone knows what happen but Youtube and Fretkillr. It is suspected that it was someone filed a copyright infringement on one of his songs. I do not think we will ever know for sure. I suspect that he had ten days to challenge it, and either do to travel or maybe just life problems he didn't respond in time. I only wish he was back. I would pull off all my videos if he was. I love his music and don't want it to die out. So enjoy it while you can.

wow... I was just checking in, and am very upset that he obviously had his channel removed. Youtube has been going downhill steadily for quite some time now - in my opinion it was only a matter of time for something like this to happen. I am sure he is not the only one to go - and I hate youtube for it. There are so many good and talented people out there that really deserve the positive feedback they are getting on here. I find it utterly sad to take something like this away from the world.

I can't believe this account was suspended. That is total jive... He didn't play any 'new' music and covers shouldn't be a violation anyway. Especially if you mention who the artist is and you play for FREE. SUX to the corporate machine that is killing anything good and trying to fill peoples minds full of trash they can charge for. Ya know, I really don't see how they say he has copyrighted material. He is doing covers of songs, some from 30 years ago! A cover is not a copy. At least not the way FretKillr plays. He made each of the covers his own. In many cases, he is better than the original. Youtube really got it wrong by taking off his channel. The guy is great and should be commended. What would cause a person to get suspended from YT? Was he too good? Did his playing inspire too many guitarists? My day wouldn't be complete if I couldn't hear this song (and others.) @bearcat5100 You still can, man. Dirpy is the best I've found to download videos. It's a bit slow if you download it as an MP3, but the video downloads pretty fast. I wish I had some Fretkillr videos of my own.

I'd like to thank Bearcat5100 for putting these Fretkillr tracks back on Youtube. I hope the powers that be leave them up....or, better still, let THE MAN himself back. He is a talent that should not be hidden away. I enjoy his great versions of great songs every day. He inspires us 'wish we was' guitarists to better things. I have just learned that Fretkillr is gone, and I am very sad. I understand the importance of protecting intellectual property rights, but the record companies are probably richer as a result of FK's performances - I would be willing to bet that, like me, many people have only become aware of certain songs as a result of FK's interpretations. That must have boosted sales of the originals, surely? Dang the record companies. FK, we love you and miss you buddy. Sincerely, thanks for everything.

When I saw that Fretkillr got suspended, my heart dropped. I really felt bad for days. I was kicking myself for not making any copies, and that all his work was lost. I'm so glad that a person had the foresight that I did not have, and had the kindness to share it with the world again. Of all Fretkillr's songs, I think this one is my favorite, and if I had not been able to listen to it again, I don't know what I'd do. I'm so glad to hear his beautiful voice again. Thank you.

I suppose they suspended fretkillr because he had the nerve to cover these songs so well. Interesting that they suspend him, but leave thousands of sh*t versions on. I suppose they consider those to be no threat. Of course, have you considered that the asses at youtube may ban you also? I am already furious at youtube for their upgrade, which is quirky and also lost hundreds of favorites I saved over many years.

The funny thing is Fretkillr probably single-handedly increased the record sales for most of the artists Youtube is trying to protect. I wonder when the music industry will catch up with the real world.

Your totally right!!! It was down to Frekillr that I bought numerous albums. James Taylor is a perfect example. They should be thanking him not hushing him. I'm really p'd about this, I liked nothing better than to pull him up and listen to his renditions. Its not like he was benefit financially. BRING HIM BACK!

People are going to cover songs on the internet, fact! they might as well start going around open mic nights and the like and trying to stop people covering copyrighted songs there too!

@realradiodevil I don't know if anyone knows what happen but Youtube and Fretkillr. It is suspected that it was someone filed a copyright infringement on one of his songs. I do not think we will ever know for sure. I suspect that he had ten days to challenge it, and either do to travel or maybe just life problems he didn't respond in time. I only wish he was back. I would pull off all my videos if he was. I love his music and don't want it to die out. So enjoy it while you can.

If I had a working video camera I'd do this myself but, I don't so.. has anyone considered petitioning youtube to reinstate Fretkillr's channel? I mean, basically it comes down to censorship and free speech, if they remove his channel for his covers, they have to remove millions of other channels and videos for the same reason... wow... I was just checking in, and am very upset that he obviously had his channel removed. Youtube has been going downhill steadily for quite some time now - in my opinion it was only a matter of time for something like this to happen. I am sure he is not the only one to go - and I hate youtube for it. There are so many good and talented people out there that really deserve the positive feedback they are getting on here. I find it utterly sad to take something like this away from the world.

Thank you, bearcat! I just logged on and discovered my beloved Fretkillr was disconnected. I am crushed. Fortunately, was was able to "record" a number of his audios as MP3s with a "certain" software (no names to keep the bastards at YouTube in the dark). Please post any news of his return or changes in his status.

I can't believe this account was suspended. That is total jive... He didn't play any 'new' music and covers shouldn't be a violation anyway. Especially if you mention who the artist is and you play for FREE. SUX to the corporate machine that is killing anything good and trying to fill peoples minds full of trash they can charge for. Ya know, I really don't see how they say he has copyrighted material. He is doing covers of songs, some from 30 years ago! A cover is not a copy. At least not the way FretKillr plays. He made each of the covers his own. In many cases, he is better than the original. Youtube really got it wrong by taking off his channel. The guy is great and should be commended. I knew once Google became involved with Youtube, it would get all jacked up. Hey Youtube, you really messed up! Bring him back

What would cause a person to get suspended from YT? Was he too good? Did his playing inspire too many guitarists? My day wouldn't be complete if I couldn't hear this song (and others.) I've told so many people about FRETKILLR.....and they love him too. I think I shall excuse myself and go throw up!! Kudos to you bearcat5100...You too must appreciate good music.

I protect a right of forgotten music properly if somebody does not hand it down, and who will inherit it to the future? I am sincere, all people getting wealth in music take the fact that a listener is charmed to the music of ancient times and should pour power to lay a new famous tune. fretkiller is a star of my eternity.

Why did they suspend fretkillr"s account? Is it because some of his songs were copyright material? If that is the case it doesn't make much sense to me because there are tons of yahoos playing copyright material on youtube, he just happens to play it well. And I can't imagine Bob Dylan and James Taylor are that worried about it. Very sad.

so in the little thingy under the video you said that you weren't as good as Mr.Fretkillr, now that just might be true if you're trying to be him, but why on earth would try to be him when there is already a Fretkillr. @bearcat5100 You still can, man. Dirpy is the best I've found to download videos. It's a bit slow if you download it as an MP3, but the video downloads pretty fast. I wish I had some Fretkillr videos of my own.
