Mine has 170bhp, 177lbstq, 16" drilled and slotted brake disc kit (on all 4), trunk brace, strut bars (front and back), racing coilover kit, 3" exhaust (cat back), no back seats, no panels anywhere in the back, no spare, oh and I get a healthy 34mpg everytime I'm on the hwy! It's not very fast, but where it lacks the speed it'll make up for in a turn.

I have a 08 rabbit. It is a very good car for the money. Feels pretty solid and only a few rattles here and there after 65K. I do have to say, gas mileage is very poor for the cars size, about 18-20mpg average. Even if I try to drive it around town with only the lightest touch, I can barely eek out 22mpg and as soon as I try to drive normally it drops below 20. My friend has a new GTi with more power and it gets better gas mileage.

@TheTruthHurtsYup That's because the GTI has a smaller engine (half a liter less) and has one more cylinder than the GTI. They really should have put a 4 cylinder into the Rabbit and Jetta.

I have an 07 and get 28 mpg every tank. do you have an automatic transmission? that could be part of it, manuals get better mileage . the GTI also has more hp because it has a turbo. my boyfriend has an 03 GLI with a 1.8t and it still has more power than my little 2.5. they didn't upgrade the engine with turbos until the mk5

Oh, and the 5 cylinder isn't even a real in-line engine, it's a VR5 engine that they *renamed", and honestly, it's the worst engine they ever made in terms of power and economy. It does sound nice though.

They don't call them VR5 and VR6 anymore, they name them V5 and V6. If you have a VW with a transverse engine configuration you can be sure it's a VR5 or VR6 (Golf/Rabbit, for example).

But.. I just noticed someone mentioned the 5 cyl isn't available in Europe, so it must be the in-line 5 cylinder engine. Probably the one they use here in the commercial vans.

no the golf and the rabbit are not different cars Its the same the only difference is that the rabbit sold in the us has a 2,5L 5 zyl engine which is not sold in europe also it has an other body kit to make it look bigger which makes it more attractive for the us market

You're in Canada though which is different I think.

You have the City Golf which is the 2.0 which is based on the Golf Mark IV and no longer sold in most parts of the world. What is sold as the Rabbit in Canada/USA is the Golf Mark V. Already released in some parts of the world is the new Golf Mark VI which will be coming to the USA (and I assume Canada) this year and I think it will be called the Golf again in North America to bring the model names in line with the rest of the world.

Yes you are right, I own this car. very good car nad solid. Tiptronic is a dual transmission from VW with Automatic and Manual. On Automatic 1st and 2nd gear are link together so as 3rd and 4th and 5th and 6th. so it feels like a DSG without shifting but its not a DSG of course it just shift gears so smoothly that you can't even feel. In addition this car also has Sports mode transmission. I highly recommend this car.

yes it has a ground effects kit VW brand, very nice and it costs 1,200 comes with sports spring for better suspension too. I trying to save to buy the kit. This model is 2007. yes man even without the dynamics kit, it still look great and its very solidly built because it 100% German mad from Wolfsburg Facility.
