Production values= AMAZING!! But is anyone else annoyed at the excessively anglicised (to the extent you thought you were watching a Braveheart prequel??)nature of the Huns?? C'mon.. they were freakin Asiatic nomads, not bored Jocks looking for a brawl on a Saturday night.. oh, and FINALLY someone got the Roman armour right!!! Long live BBC!
To irishhunbrit......I am well aware of the huns expertise in seige warfare, I was refering to the programme as a whole not this scene.....now untwist your knickers and read what I said again and think.
your talking shit tiger2995 scythian-sarmatian hun culture had been around along time before attilla, hails from the sumerian ,suppossedly the first civilisation.yeah sure they done alot from there horses, equestrian nation and proud of it.but they know more than just about horses.and guess what they dont feel the need to lie and manipulate history.kiss my arse with your romanic points of veiw
Well acted, but historically inaccurate in terms of the Hun's means of waging war. They did the majority of things in the saddle, and that isn't reflected here. Good action scenes though!
Staggeringly well realised for a television programme. The effects, apparently done quite cheaply, are stunning and I think perhaps better those in the opening sequence of Gladiator. It really does set a new standard for television. Imagine if the recent BBC/HBO 'Rome' series had been done like this. Just a shame it was only an hour long one off. It could have sustained more.
Look at the range of the arrows!
