The tone is more common among the Greek Orthodox. I am Ukrainian Catholic (my mother and her ancestors were Ukrainian), and the tone does not sound "Ukrainian" to me.

The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church enjoys apostolic continuity, which was passed on by Rome. This cannot be said about the Autocephalous Ukrainian Orthodox Church or the Kiev Patriarchate. Both latter churches are considered as schismatic and heretic under canonical law. Unfortunately (or fortunately for some) the only canonical orthodox church in Ukraine is under the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate... This is not my opinion, it's a legal fact by application of canonicla law...

Honestly, we don't care. None of the churches mentioned follow the teachings of Christ in their entirety. None of those churches have taken a total stand against war, even though Christ himself said to love our enemies and not to kill. In fact, throughout the ages, many of the so-called "holy men" in the churches have served in wars in the past. These churches have also invented many new doctrines throughout the centuries. The bottom line: they're just human beings who want to feel special.

I don't understand how such a beautiful hymn: surely precious to the ears of God, can be so controversial and ignite so many completely irrelevant arguments here! If you don't like church don't go, but please don't insult others whose joy it is to pray. I am Ukrainian - American, and this video is like the water of life to my soul... thank you for posting it. (I am a mix of Cath and Orth, and love both sides)

It sounds like they are singing the Sunday First Antiphon in Ukrainian (not Old Church Slavonic). Is somewhat translates, "Let the whole earth sing to the Lord, sing to His name, pay homage to His glory. By the prayers of the Mother of God, O Savior, Save us. . . " It is derived from the Psalms "Make a Joyful Noise Unto the Lord all the earth."

It is in ukrainian... we sing the this one in my church, and I actually understand some of it lol... so must be ukrainian.
