i hav this cam but thats the thing with the video, its very clear and zoom is the best, but the image stabilizer doesnt do the function very well.. just like in the video shown, it focuses in one place and then shows another place. because if you shoot the video in motion side to side the image is not stable, its wobbly and very sensitive...you will feel dizzylike if you shoot while moving..
I got a canon powershot , and my computer isn't able to read the movie format .. could you tell me on what settings are you filming , format and mode , please
@Venddenta I so far haven'y seen a canon that can do 1080P or i..which is a total shame..cause nikon has few good ones at 1080P...but still i prefer canon even if its 720P...i hope canon will come out with a 1080P soon.
@lezbriddon I haven't try that. You can record about 25 min HD video clip or about 55 min SD video clip and speed it up later on your computer for timelapse effect.
Hi, question for you. I just started playing with the video option of my Canon, and when I view it in the 'zoom browser' which was downloaded with the software, my video looks great. But, when I export it and view it in Windows Media player, or something similar, the quality is much poorer. I'm a beginner, any advice?
good video; got this canon powershot SX20 and I love the the excellent sound capture with its dual stereophonic microphones; video quality as expected drops in darker environment but excellent in bright sunlight like your video; see samples of my videos with SX20 at poliveros55
@MakariosK you mean you can plug an external audio recorder to the Canon PowerShot SX20? Where is the socket in the Camera to plug an external device? All I can see is the Digital HDMI, AV out. Or Zoom H1 recorder is used separately?
oh myyy...seeing yuo videos make me wanna get a sx20 too. But i'm starting to get concerned abt the high (maybe too high) quality video which i love but my computer might not be able to handle.
I'm guessing you're running on mac but could u roughly share with me, what specs might be needed to do intermediate level of editing with these HD footages?
@elpheal Yep, I have 3 years old MacBook Pro, 2.2 GHz, 4 GB ram. It's not the fastest maschine and can't handle the original uncompressed HD-material absolutely smoothly. But it's fast enough for me. Editing is quick and simple process with iMovie '09 but final rendering takes time.
Cameras are getting better and better. Prices are getting more in reach for amateur consumers. Loads of fun. Take decent pictures and video. The gap between photo cams and camcorders is getting narrower.
But, if you're a video buff, a dedicated camcorder like the HF100 is still the better option.
heyy! nice video, I just bought this camera but I cant understand why, by watching a video in my computer the frames start to drop, it doesnt play very smoothly and the audio stop suddenly, can you help me? ´pliz
Excellent video testing. Very nicely presented. Interesting subjects. Well done. I'm researching this camera for a holiday purchase. Thank you for posting these!
Thanks Tebin. I already have hours of Kuopio material, I just have to find time to edit them and score some music. So new stuff in coming up... someday.
THANK YOU FOR USING A TRIPOD! Most examples posted are worthless due to too much camera movement by the user. With yours we can actually see the cameras ability to capture good video.
Hello, I've also purchased this camera and very happy I have it. Video was the main criteria why I've selected SX20is.
After playing with video editor I've discovered that I cennot save final video unless the full re-coding of video is executed. Only VirtualDup merged several clips in one without re-coding.
May I ask you if you've managed to find a way how to create clips and to not loose quality (re-code video)?
why is there a blurry line at the bottom of the screen ?
YouTube processing malfunction ?

how did U do the fade-ins and out between clips?....is it in the camera, or the canon software that comes with it, or a different software??
thanks

@badbadboy68 A different software. Any basic video editing software can do fading effects. I have used Apple iMovie.

@poliveros55 Zoom H1 is a new small indipendent microsd card audio recorder, no connection needed. Search "Samson Zoom H1 - Handy Recorder".

What kind of memory card do you use? I ordered a 8 gig class 6 memory card because the class 2 would only record short clips before stopping.

@PuddleJumpinFool I have two 8 GB SDHC cards. One class 4 and one class 6.
