i hav this cam but thats the thing with the video, its very clear and zoom is the best, but the image stabilizer doesnt do the function very well.. just like in the video shown, it focuses in one place and then shows another place. because if you shoot the video in motion side to side the image is not stable, its wobbly and very sensitive...you will feel dizzylike if you shoot while moving..

For example Canon 550d, Canon 5d Mark II , Canon 60d and Canon 7D.

@lezbriddon I haven't try that. You can record about 25 min HD video clip or about 55 min SD video clip and speed it up later on your computer for timelapse effect.

@badbadboy68 A different software. Any basic video editing software can do fading effects. I have used Apple iMovie.

Hi, question for you. I just started playing with the video option of my Canon, and when I view it in the 'zoom browser' which was downloaded with the software, my video looks great. But, when I export it and view it in Windows Media player, or something similar, the quality is much poorer. I'm a beginner, any advice?

@poliveros55 Yes, you are exactly right. And it's possible to use external devices like Zoom H1 Handy Recorder to capture even better audio.

@MakariosK you mean you can plug an external audio recorder to the Canon PowerShot SX20? Where is the socket in the Camera to plug an external device? All I can see is the Digital HDMI, AV out. Or Zoom H1 recorder is used separately?

@poliveros55 Zoom H1 is a new small indipendent microsd card audio recorder, no connection needed. Search "Samson Zoom H1 - Handy Recorder".

oh myyy...seeing yuo videos make me wanna get a sx20 too. But i'm starting to get concerned abt the high (maybe too high) quality video which i love but my computer might not be able to handle.

I'm guessing you're running on mac but could u roughly share with me, what specs might be needed to do intermediate level of editing with these HD footages?

@elpheal Yep, I have 3 years old MacBook Pro, 2.2 GHz, 4 GB ram. It's not the fastest maschine and can't handle the original uncompressed HD-material absolutely smoothly. But it's fast enough for me. Editing is quick and simple process with iMovie '09 but final rendering takes time.

What kind of memory card do you use? I ordered a 8 gig class 6 memory card because the class 2 would only record short clips before stopping.

@PuddleJumpinFool I have two 8 GB SDHC cards. One class 4 and one class 6.

Cameras are getting better and better. Prices are getting more in reach for amateur consumers. Loads of fun. Take decent pictures and video. The gap between photo cams and camcorders is getting narrower.

But, if you're a video buff, a dedicated camcorder like the HF100 is still the better option.

@06rOx18 VLC Player. Once you start using it, it will be the only program you will use forever to watch video files.

VLC player is nice but also has some flaws. DVD playback sucks and it doesn´t recognize aspect ratio of some files.

THANK YOU FOR USING A TRIPOD! Most examples posted are worthless due to too much camera movement by the user. With yours we can actually see the cameras ability to capture good video.

OK, no tripod here, just steady hands. Or knee, some rock, bench or trash can as temporary stand. Normally I use fullsize or mini tripod. Thanks. :-)
