@bettobetum The cross is made out of television sets that are lit on fire. MM has always pointed out how society worships TV as if it's a god, trusting and listening to anything it says. On the same album as this, there's a song called Astonishing Panorama of the End Times, with the lyrics "Kill your God, Kill your TV." Manson is many things, but he isn't racist. It's more symbolic for killing your beliefs than anything.
You are all wrong and right (except MechanicalWood, whom is completely wrong). Mechanical Animals is a concept album revolving around two characters (Alpha and Omēga). Omēga is a drug-addicted glam rocker androgynous alien who has become numb to the world around him, while Alpha is just regaining his emotions and is vulnerable. Both wish to assimilate into society. There's much more to the whole thing, but this song is from the perspective of Alpha.
@EricZajac Two different characters? One character. Adam Kodland. The story of Omëga goes along with Mechanical Animals ONLY! But with the Triptych, (the fusion of Antichrist, Mechanimals and HolyWood to make one long album) Adam Kodland IS Omëga.
@ComaAlpha@ComaAlpha It is Adam Kadmon, and Alpha is meant to represent Manson himself and the emotions that he felt following the Antichrist Superstar album. I could continue explaining this all to you, yet it would be better if you just visited something like nachtkabarett (dot) com. Also, it would be a good idea to thoroughly think out what you wish to say before you post it, considering the amount of grammatical errors and misspellings.
@EricZajac I've never heard it be said "Kodmon" I've seen a bunch of places that it was "Kodland" and what grammatical errors? 'Cause I said "Mechanimals" instead of "Mechanical Animals" I shortened it, so fucking sue me. And you don't need to tell me about the nachtkaberett. I was a member of the ORIGINAL Heirophant. Remember that place? MansonUSA before it went down the drain. 'PHANT MEMBERS REPRESENT!
@MechanicalWood I'm stupid? You're the one who looks like an asshole with all of your petty comments and your sad attempts to get under my skin? The saddest part is that it's starting to fucking work. Just shut the fuck up you rat fuck bastard.
@MechanicalWood if you go to the most literal meaning. But I doubt it means what you think it does. "Mother May miscarry" in my eyes would mean that he followed the christian lifestyle along with his family and had disturbing or saddening things happen to him.
@MechanicalWood You're an idiot if you think this song has blasphemy in it. The title alone tells me that this is a song about how hard it is for an outcast like Brian Warner to find solice and comfort in a "Great Big White World". In other words, suburben middle america with catholic/christian stronghold on the and the surrounding areas. People like myself and Brian Warner are not christians and we never will be. This song is about coming to terms and trying to escape.
@Hellion6325 No way in hell this song is SOLELY about cocaine. In fact, I don't see in the lyrics how it could be about cocaine alone. Just 'cause someone says something, doesn't mean they mean it.
@Hellion6325 He says a lot of things that I take with a grain of salt. That is just another. The lyrical content is too well written and paints such a vivid story for it to be ONLY about cocaine.

This one sounds more powerful than the album's version.

@ComaAlpha Calm down. People usually act angrily when they are corrected. Understandable. Don't be so reactive.

@EricZajac Well don't talk down to people and then people might not have a reason to say 'FUCK YOU!' right to your face.
