Very nice. I think you have a better grip on the style than you realize. Your use of slides (glissandi), small as they were, gave it a very authentic Midwestern European fiddle feel. Maybe just a little flat on the A string during the passages with a lot of crossing. But still really good and probably better than what i could do lol xD
@Devilstrill1605 Thank you! Yeah, it did get a tad bit flat, but I was sight reading and the subsequent takes I did sucked. So, I used this one! :) Sometimes you get it better the first time around. HA Ha ha..
This is Allie F. from Facebook :-) Nice job! That's such a pretty hornpipe too! I've been playing Celtic/Celtic-style pieces for a while now so thought I'd share some things if you don't mind! :-) The notes you play as straight triplets are really more of grace notes; you could maybe even slur them. You play the hornpipe quite rigidly and "classically"; loosen up a little to get more of the Celtic feel in there. Still though--gorgeous job on quite a difficult piece!
@afaulkner178 Yeah, I know. I can't seem to get out of the classical style. I love the classical style, so I am not knocking it. But I also want to respect and emulate the style of Celtic culture. It's really a different way of playing the violin and you have to rewire your brain.
@Violinfanatic This is Allie again, this is my main Youtube username. I had forgotten my password when I tried to comment on your video! On this s/n there's a few vids of me playing with pirate group The Musical Blades :-)
@Violinfanatic Oh, they're phenomenal, aren't they?? And just the nicest guys ever too! I neglected to add there's vid of me with the Jolly Rogers too XD And a couple of the Blades videos are in my "favorites" posted by other people (there's video of me on "Red Is The Rose" and "Fields of Athenry" at the KC Renaissance Festival).
