I loved Apollo Creed and the biggest mistake in the Rocky series was killing Apollo. If he had say went into a coma and had woke up in the end of the movie I feel Rocky V and Rocky Balboa would have been better movies.
@amensupremera totally agree with you. killing Apollo is the biggest plot mistake in the series. and it's unfair he's hardly mentioned in R5 & R6, not even a flashack, nothing. not fair.

Rocky 1 was based on the fight between Muhammad Ali and Chuck Wepner, In Rocky 3 when Rocky fights Thunderlips that was based on when Chuck Wepner fought Andre the Giant
I truly liked the way they portrayed Apollo Creed. He was a class act and a terrific boxer. He spoke eloquently. His character was almost as important as Rocky. Remember he helped him get his swagger back against Lang in 3. Rocky and Apollo made a great team. It's a shame he couldn't be in the final Rocky. Still one of the all-time best characters in movies!
Apollo is just the coolest, the best character in the Rocky series. Technically the best boxer of all as well. The way he trained Rocky in R3 was just awesome.

@falmark187 - I think it was: "The Count of Monte Fisto" :-) That was a great intro to Creed in the second fight. He was uber serious and wanted to prove himself a champion to the world. Awesome moment. Then he says to Rocky wit real earnest: "You're Going Down!" Awesome!
I heard Carl Weathers say on a radio interview that he was very dissapoionted with the fact his charachter was killed off by Sylvester Stallone. I came away with the fact that he did not waqnt Apollo killed off at all. I could even hear the extreme dissapointment in his voice with Sylvester-for real.

There were several roles that was played by Apollo Creed. He went from clown to vengeful opponent to trainer and friend to patroit. That is the short way for Apollo Creed.
I enjoyed the video. Apollo Creed did things his way to the end. It was progress of taking Rocky lightly to taking the second fight seriously to being Rocky's trainer and friend and then a patroit. He did not listen to advice but had a mind of his own. It was good and bad. Apollo Creed was one of my favorite characters not only in the Rocky series but of all time. I liked Apollo more than Rocky no offense. Apollo progressed in the four Rocky series.

I can look at fourteen situations where Apollo did things his way. First, he was set on fighting Rocky. Duke said not to fight Rocky because he was a southpaw. He did anyway. Second, Duke saw how Rocky was punching the meat and told Apollo to look at the opponent he was about to fight and Apollo ignored him and did not take Rocky seriously. Third, Duke wanted to stop the fight and Apollo said no even when his ribs were injured and was bleeding inside. Apollo did not listen. More later
Fourth, after receiving tons of hate mail, Apollo was so angry that he was determined to have a rematch with Rocky. Duke suggested Apollo to let it go because Rocky kept coming after him in spite of the beating that Apollo gave Rocky Apollo chose not to listen. Fifth, Apollo used a humiliation tactic to bring Rocky back to the ring with him. Sixth, Apollo trained hard out of anger that he even knocked down two sparring partners. Seventh, Duke suggested Apollo not to go for the knockout More.
Apollo did not listen to that advice either and Rocky knocked him out by one second. Eighth, Apollo became humble, gave Rocky the belt and said, "Good Luck." Ninth, Apollo wished Rocky good luck in Rocky's first fight with Clubber after Clubber taunted Apollo. Tenth, Apollo came to Mickey's gym where Rocky was and offered to train him. Eleventh, Apollo was willing to train with Rocky. Twelfth, Apollo watched film with Duke determining the pace to set Rocky for seven to eight rounds.
Twelfth, Apollo was willing to work with Rocky again thanks to Adrian even though Rocky drained his energy which Apollo did not have to do. Thirteenth, Apollo and Rocky became friends. Fourteenth and the funniest, Apollo who decided this before he trained him chose to spar with Rocky in Mickey's gym at the end of the movie. The last choice Apollo did was the decision to fight Drago which was fatal and caused his death. Those are the progresses of Apollo's decisions of doing it his way.

Yeah, this video is a bit older and I took my skills and dedication/vision to a completely whole another level. I really have these videos to show people how far I'm progressing. Glad you enjoyed both though.
Carl Weathers was a great actor, watching him move around in the ring and during training he actually looked like he was legitimate boxer and not an actor. He also had a great physique, probably the best out of all the Rocky characters, except maybe Sly in Rocky 4. Anyways great vid man.

i was watching Rocky 4 last night, and i thought, Sly should of had Drago kill Clubber Lang in the ring, It would of been ALOT more devistating , viewers would of been like . OMFG!!! Hows Rocky going to beat this guy. the more i think about it, it makes more sence cos Apollo could of been his trainer again and Mr T would of exited the Rocky movies better, cos Sly didnt really tell us what happend to Clubber
Yea, every Rocky "villain" is forgotten about in the series... or at least not explained. Apollo isn't really seen as a bad guy, more as a guy that gave Rocky a chance. Not in the conventional sense like Clubber and Drago. Interesting idea, though.
That's actually pretty interesting...but Mr. T becoming a major star in his own right probably made Clubber being in a bit role really unrealistic. I also don't think Apollo had to die...he could've been brutally knocked out or even put in a coma. Killing him...and making just a passing mention of his "BEST FRIEND" in the last two movies is really weird. But Drago knocking Clubber out...that would've been something for the sake of the movie. Also explains why there was no third Balboa/Lang fight
Totally agree on the fact that having Apollo killed by an amateur just turned pro was way too exagerated. the coma thing would have been better and fairer for Creed. But I don't think the idea of Drago vs Lang would have brought much interest emotionally -although a good fight. Stallone wanted to make us hate Drago (...). & Rock fighting Drago had a sense of vengence.
They could of kept him in it , i dono to me they just killed him had a funeral and that was it i think they could of done so much more with teh character

Twelfth, Apollo was willing to work with Rocky again thanks to Adrian even though Rocky drained his energy which Apollo did not have to do. Thirteenth, Apollo and Rocky became friends. Fourteenth and the funniest, Apollo who decided this before he trained him chose to spar with Rocky in Mickey's gym at the end of the movie. The last choice Apollo did was the decision to fight Drago which was fatal and caused his death. Those are the progresses of Apollo's decisions of doing it his way.

Carl Weathers was a great actor, watching him move around in the ring and during training he actually looked like he was legitimate boxer and not an actor. He also had a great physique, probably the best out of all the Rocky characters, except maybe Sly in Rocky 4. Anyways great vid man.

i was watching Rocky 4 last night, and i thought, Sly should of had Drago kill Clubber Lang in the ring, It would of been ALOT more devistating , viewers would of been like . OMFG!!! Hows Rocky going to beat this guy. the more i think about it, it makes more sence cos Apollo could of been his trainer again and Mr T would of exited the Rocky movies better, cos Sly didnt really tell us what happend to Clubber

Yea, every Rocky "villain" is forgotten about in the series... or at least not explained. Apollo isn't really seen as a bad guy, more as a guy that gave Rocky a chance. Not in the conventional sense like Clubber and Drago. Interesting idea, though.

That's actually pretty interesting...but Mr. T becoming a major star in his own right probably made Clubber being in a bit role really unrealistic. I also don't think Apollo had to die...he could've been brutally knocked out or even put in a coma. Killing him...and making just a passing mention of his "BEST FRIEND" in the last two movies is really weird. But Drago knocking Clubber out...that would've been something for the sake of the movie. Also explains why there was no third Balboa/Lang fight

Totally agree on the fact that having Apollo killed by an amateur just turned pro was way too exagerated. the coma thing would have been better and fairer for Creed. But I don't think the idea of Drago vs Lang would have brought much interest emotionally -although a good fight. Stallone wanted to make us hate Drago (...). & Rock fighting Drago had a sense of vengence.
