  • Yeah I remember a question for my algebra honors asking me for the amount of time a person fell with a single simple x= (definite variable) x (definite simple number) no where did it take in air velocity, drag and other key physics components that occur in real-life situations although this might not particularly deal with calculus it just comes to show how simple and unreal algebra is but on the other hand it gets students into the mode of graphing and solving and thus builds up to more comple

  • well thankGOD im not taking CAL - CU - LUS!!!!

  • he has a unibrow

  • What is Calculus? Hard as shit!

  • has anybody hear ever found calculus more tolerable because it deals with real world situations more?

  • i can see this being played in schools its very helpful to me

  • This video sucks. You use algebra all the time: shopping, driving, tipping etc... You never wonder, "GEE lemme just calculate my distance traveled by taking the integral from ti to tf of of v(t)"

  • @k0reankim fail dude, algebra can help with simple minded people but for the real world calculus is for jobs, and actual things in the world. Not just thoughts in your mind e.g. prices

  • @0ChrisMackle0 I understand what you're saying, but I don't think you understand what I'm saying. I said that calculus isn't any more "real" than algebra because they're both used in real life. I do recognize that calculus is used in the real world and it can do many things algebra can't but that doesn't make it any more "real" than algebra. However, algebra is used in real life too, and everybody does it every day. So how's one more "real" than the other?

  • @0ChrisMackle0 Oh yeah. You must be simple-minded if you think that algebra can only help simple minded people. I guarantee you that everybody, regardless of their background in calculus, uses algebra all the time for their day-to-day life.

  • @k0reankim Dude I said it can HELP simple minded people, ofcourse everyone uses it more thats why i said simple minded as calculus is for people who have studied and use it in the industry

  • @0ChrisMackle0 And algebra can also help calculus people.... But whether it's "simple minded" or not is aside my point. My point was, that one isn't necessarily more "real" than the other. Both have their uses.

  • @k0reankim yea all i was saying is that calculus is used more in the industry and those higher up jobs e.g. scientis etc.. but i see what ur saying

  • @0ChrisMackle0 Cool. I never said that it wasn't used by people in the industry. So I'm not sure how this conversation came about lol

  • What is calculus? Fun. Yes, i mean it.

  • Fake and gay.

  • what's cal-culos? haha

  • I Love The Video It Can Increase My Knowledge This clip provides an introduction to Calculus.

  • Good, I like that you share this video This clip provides an introduction to Calculus, I wish success always

  • Nice Video This clip provides an introduction to Calculus That You Share , So Very Nice Thanks You

  • I Really Like The Video This clip provides an introduction to Calculus From Your

  • Your Video This clip provides an introduction to Calculus Is Very Useful Sharing

  • you used air quotes for emphasis. i just lost all confidence in this video.

  • Im still waiting for the day where I use calculus in real life. :|

  • Calculus is Algebra on crack

  • is calculus used in business subjects like finance and banking????

  • Economic crisis... Not many people know how to use it. They fool around with numbers. See Euro bailouts. They have have no idea how to use gini coefficient.

There are thousands of high school drop outs. They don't use calculus. They guess.

  • you dont do calculus in highschool do you?

  • Answers: Integral problem: 45, limit problem: 0.

  • I get pussy, and I know calculus...what does that make me?

  • @blott1978 hmm you natural philosopher, newton, maybe this is the answer today. look that which was to be demonstrated now.

  • @blott1978 A male human?

  • Calculus is a bad 90's infomercial

  • That's not algebra.

  • @coutts12 ...except it was..

  • This is a terrible explanation of calculus and algebra. I didn't hear infinitesimals mentioned anywhere.

  • @id1337x yeah limits form the basis of calculus both differential and integral

  • this is the shit that aliens left on a rock

  • I'm trying to calculate the exponential growth of his unibrow

  • if nerdy ass virgins can pass calculus, so can I !

  • Comment removed

  • @MrLinuxkid you're an idiot

  • lol I didn't understand functions until the final of entire algebra 2 class and I somehow ended up in calculus. But you know what? Calculus is some interesting shi* son...it keeps my attention. CALCULUS GOES HARD.

  • Thanks for the video, cleared thing up a bit.

  • The fact that calculus is "more real" kind of screw up when you consider imaginary numbers :P

  • God dammit I need to learn calculus and I can't understand shit!!! >o<

  • Wait until you take a course in Analysis. Then you'll die. Twice.

  • What is calculus? A pain in the ass.

  • @sydriam999 oh gawd you are discouraging me now

  • @dondopa Nope. Don't listen to people who are not motivated to study. Calculus brings upon a whole new range of mathematical research used in breakthrough science applications nowadays.

  • @sydriam999 Haha!Is it really?Now I am freaking out about it.

  • @TheCecile2010 Don't worry. It's definitely doable but it can be challenging at times.

  • integrating and deriving

  • so the whole mathematics can be divided to algebra and calculus?

  • Calculus is a total boner kill

  • easy...

  • my dick actually inverted from this vid

  • Calculus bent me over and made me call it daddy...

  • @FantasyVesperia

Well thanks. *waits a month before going to cal class*

  • @FantasyVesperia Calculus is Jerry Sandusky?

  • Yeah, I'm in college and failed Pre-Algebra so I really doubt calculus is going to work out for me. T.T But seriously, if Calculus is more applicable to "real life" situations, than why don't they have us learn Calculus instead!!!???

  • @Videogenius7 You need to learn how to add before you can multiply.

  • (choking under impending doom)

    Awwww hell.

This iss somme fucked upp shIT.

  • Wait, I Have Pre-Ap Algebra

  • I'm In 7th Grade And I'm 12 And I Have Algebraa!!:]

  • @yaritzae03 oh, you're cool

  • @TrinoElrich lol ikr! jk, thnkss but it kinda suckss because we have homework every day, even on weekends. and we had homework the first day of school too!

  • @yaritzae03 Oh you're going to love taking AP classes in that case.

  • @TrinoElrich lol, ur like sooo right now!:]

  • Im a freshman in college and Im only in BASIC ALGEBRA. im dumb

  • @FacultyBob Calculus will fuck you in the ass.

  • Any math in general just makes me puke. Good luck to anyone taking calculus. I'm 18 and can't even do simple algebra, lol.

  • essays. am i right people.:P

  • calculus is a hard buildup between the teeth, also called "tartar"...oh wait you're talking about math -__- hahaha

  • I'm in the 11th grade taking Math Analysis (Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus) and I want to be an Astrophysics major. Can someone tell me how Math Analysis and Calculus is applicable to Astrophysics? Aside from "measuring the area of weird looking objects"?

  • @trashthethrasher you can use calculus to predict the path of objects and their velocity

I would assume astrophysics would rely very heavily on math, especially calculus

  • Yea... rectangles, squares, circles, and triangles are SO uncommon in the real world...

  • calculus is algebra stuck in a loop

  • Okay now I´m knowing how I will study , Praying to pass in that semester.

  • hahaaa

  • This video is better than the "What is Chemistry" video from CerebellumCorp in that at least it doesn't put quite so much effort into insulting the intelligence of the viewers.

  • oh God...

  • therefore more applicable?? right well I just make up a really complex idea then and it had better work

  • So basically regularity and reality form a negative correlation.

  • good!!!!

  • @KunikosStudio ohhh did i struck a nerve lil lady boy??? huh the lil dumb shit got his feeling hurt huh,,?? the lil panzy got his pussy hurt,,lol,,,,, lil biatch

  • @KunikosStudio u stupid moron,,, if your gonna type something on my channel at least allow comments on yours ,, oh and its ass HOLE , not asshoe, what are a dirty chink or someshit,, ?

  • @KunikosStudio u mean cyber bulling?? whatta shit head, im just being straight up with ppl , , take it how u want

  • @KunikosStudio oh what , u want some too ???

  • calculus is useless to almost all people according to joe rogan. im not a fan of him

  • Comment removed

  • @MsNintendogs then why are u here,,,,, u are an imbecile you hate math and yet you are using a computer internet service , and you are posting comments on a comment section of a website,, how do you think all of that came to be???? huuuh did the fairy bring it about,, no you perfect ingrate mathematics brought all of that ,,, i really do feel sorry for people like you, to me you are NOTHING BUT A LITTLE IGNORANT MOTH

  • Next question....is it hard ?? :P

  • im going into junior year, with this class.....i'm scared for when school starts

  • u explain graet

  • Thank you!

  • How hard is Calculus? I'm fairly good when it comes to math

  • Omg yupp, I will study like a nerd when I take this class next year!!!

I'll stay at home like a caveman!!! lol

  • If this is what calculus is...I got a taste of calculus in my 7th grade advanced science class.

  • the guy in red looks like young steve jobs

  • I was always told that, Algebra -> Trigonometry -> Calculus.

  • I don't understand calc but i have to do it if i want to do Architecture. I NEED HELP!!!! anyone know any good tutoring videos for someone with a more right-brained way of thinking?? :S

  • @Sami70321 Check out khanacademy. Dot com of course. It saved my Engineering studies.

  • @lefty0821 Thank you so much! I will definitely try it. I'm pretty much failing calc and I need it to get into Architecture next year. Thanks again :)

  • @lefty0821 Wow thank's for the link!

  • I don't understand calc but i have to do it if i want to do Architecture. I NEED HELP!!!! anyone know any good tutoring videos????

  • Lol geonetry ia nothin to that

  • For most people calculus isn't the hard part, its the algebra...

Some common calculus struggles: forgetting the chain rule, not recognizing when to use product rule, forgetting quotient rule, differentiating instead of integrating and vice versa

Some commonly forgotten algebra concepts: trig functions and their inverses, logs

The most dreaded calculus concepts: optimization, related rates, integration by parts, L'Hopital's rule, infinite series

  • im scared

  • The actors are extremely cool

  • Math gets me high. Legit.

  • That guys unibrow is the tangent line representing the slope of his face.

  • This will be the death of me......

  • love it.

  • because a quadratic is a straight line right? and how is measuring the curve of a line real when you're dealing with an already infinite number, regardless of how you put restraints and limits on it.

  • @LostInside1458 a quadratic makes a parabola or a arch

  • Calculus is way complicated, but I challenge myself to try it. :D

  • Except for the early line about it being the mathematics of change, the rest was actually incorrect.

  • We use a lot of algebra every day, you wouldn't know because your comprehension of mathematics is limited(not saying you're dumb just a bit uneducated). For all you people who understand what I'm saying thumbs up

  • This is a VERY, VERY rough look at the differences between algebra and calculus.

Calculus doesn't necessarily mean complex (deriving a function after a bit of practise REALLY isn't all that hard, same for integration).

Algebra on the other hand doesn't automatically mean easy. Try to solve a quadric, I DARE YA!

  • @NilsMcCloud You mean quadratic? Because that is easy

  • @theneonfire a quadratic equation yes. A quadric (this term COULD be wrong) is something of the form: ax² + by² + cz² + dxy + exz + fyz = g

Then you gotta determine what kind of 3D-shape it has. Have fun!

  • @NilsMcCloud I seeeeeeeeeeeee

Yeah that just fucked my head sideways

  • @NilsMcCloud what, negative b plus or minus the square root of b squared minus four ac all over two a? I love that stuff and use it to teach the kids in pre-calculus every day lol

  • @NilsMcCloud I do quadratics with my eyes closed.

  • Calculus is algebra on drugs

  • @sabrescarygood hahahah

  • @sabrescarygood On steroids

  • @sabrescarygood really? I thought calculus is the opposite of algebra.

  • @sabrescarygood

think ya nailed it on the head

  • @sabrescarygood naw, that's trig

  • So to simplify things....I hate calculus

  • And here I thought all math was real.

  • What an imbecilic video.

"Algebra is less real, calculus is more real"? Way to not explain anything and muddy the waters.

  • @TheSockWithNoName very true

  • @TheSockWithNoName The video gives you three examples of contrast between calculus and algebra. It just seems like you don't understand the difference.

  • Calculus, Missouri

  • Now do something about non-Euclidean geometry!!!

  • So just because buildings and certain structures are unnatural, does that make them less real?, think about it for a second, what is real?... In nature there are no straight lines, but nature gave us the ability to create straight lines, so which one is it? We are part of nature are we not?. Like I said before both are equally relevant depending on its application. Both is as real as the other.

  • this is math, not philosophy. lol. jk

  • calculus is the study of change just as geometry is the study of shapes and algebra is the study of operations and their application to solving equations

  • I'm not trying to be funny, (well, maybe I am, just a little) but at 0:28 you state that the visual shown is elementary mathematics. Trust me, that is not elementary math.

  • @PookyDKid 8th grade math is pretty elementary i would say.

  • lol algebra less real??? lol. i guess cities, buildings, residential housing, architecture etc. which deals with triangles, rectangles and striaght lines are "less real"??very ignorant.... Algebra and calculus has its own place, both are equally relevant depending on the application.

  • well structures and buildings are unnatural, therefore perfect by our defined world. Meanwhile, nature is "not perfect" which makes it more real as humans are a part of nature, which is hard to calculate using algebra; therefore, algebra is less real.

  • @Theauthenticmindset calculus is much more useful, shut the fuck up

  • @MAURICIOBRAZZILL constructive criticism for the win. you need some brain power bro.

  • @Theauthenticmindset if i had lack of brain power i wouldnt be doing calculus, funny becuz i never see perfect triangles and circles in the real world

  • @MAURICIOBRAZZILL LOL everyone can do calculus, its pattern driven. Even people who dont like math can integrate.

We deal with alot of "perfect" circles and triangles in the building industry. Calculus is not really needed. As I said before both are equally relevant depending on its application.

  • @Theauthenticmindset Well yes and no. Algebra is one of the tools that you need for Calculus. What he's saying is that Algebra BY ITSELF is too simplistic to handle engineering and architecture in most cases. It would be like saying you don't need to add and subtract and multiply in order to do Algebra.

  • @kingslice75 Im not sure if you watched the whole video but @ 1:20, he mentioned that algebra is less real and that is false. Yes, I do agree with you that Algebra by itself is too simplistic, but it is ENOUGH when dealing with the construction of regular residential and commercial buildings (i hope you know what I mean by "regular"). For example trades people use algebra.

  • @kingslice75 ...However, the engineering part of building for example, which deal with loads and stresses, is more accurate when calculus is applied. For example, an engineer would use calculus to calculate a beam deflection. Keep in mind that this is just one example.

In conclusion, algebra and calculus are both relevant depending on the application. (for the 3rd time)

  • @Theauthenticmindset i can't believe you are defending your ignorant comment to no ends after 11 months. The video says calculus is more applicable to REAL WORLD situations, and algebra isn't, so it makes it LESS REAL; in terms that the real world is not constant, hence the linear equation vs limit equation example.

  • @Flows234 You're embarrasing, please read my past comments before replying.

I kinda have no choice, i get email notifications everyone someone reply. I just have to reply back everytime I see stupid comments

  • @Theauthenticmindset Seriously, are you retarded? I've just read your past comment, and it makes you sound even dumber. You argue that because we are part of nature, which gives us the ability to create straight lines, makes algebra as real as calculus. No shit, it's as real as calculus, but you miss the point, when they say MORE APPLICABLE to the REAL world. Ex. You don't drive 65 mph constantly, instead speed is fluctuated, and so you are able to measure instantaneous velocity with calculus.

  • @Flows234 Nope, you did not READ my comments. Take some time and dissect the information in my past comments.

Your example makes you sound like you're just learning calculus, you are stating the obvious AND its definately one way calculus can come in handy when it comes to precise calculations.

    Anyways stay in school junior.

  • @Theauthenticmindset There's nothing to analyze aside from what I've stated earlier, or do you want to make yourself clearer? My example is kept simplistic, so I don't further confuse your deficient comprehension. Of course, I'm stating the obvious, since you don't seem to understand what it means MORE APPLICABLE TO REAL WORLD SITUATIONS I don't know how to spell it out any clearer.

Anyways u should go back to school, I doubt the singing thing will work out for u, and you don't seem very smart

  • @Flows234 ..my singing got 4.5 stars dont hate. I love to sing, girls love it.

Anyways, if you had read my comments you wouldnt be telling me that "calculus is more applicable to real world situations" because I did not say calculus is not.

Secondly your first comment was weak you are just regurgitating what the vid said, thats why my previous comments to you was concise. More brain power please and READ my past comments junior.

  • @Theauthenticmindset Your singing has 7 likes, 5 dislikes; not a very good ratio. Girls love singing, but obviously not yours.

Why don't you restate what you've said in previous comments? (something you will not do, because it's flawed, and makes you look retarded) I've already repeated what you've said in your previous comment.

You criticized this video, because you were not able to comprehend it's meaning between less real/more applicable, hence my comment.

  • @Theauthenticmindset Your arguments are vague and weak. You can only refer me to read back your old comments, which are unintelligent. I feel like I'm arguing with a rock? Are you a rock? No, wait, rocks don't make themselves look retarded.

  • @Flows234 LOL are u serious or are u just fuckin' with me? Sounds like im talking to a 12 yr old here. Junior, repeating "retarded" wont me you look any smarter. LOL and you fuckin' copied what I just told you on my last comment. Shit im done talking to you kid. I feel like I lost all my brain cells...

  • @Theauthenticmindset Not a significant lost.

  • @Flows234 Please dont reply back just comment on the vid if you have something to say because I dont want any more of your spam.

  • @Theauthenticmindset -- This comment was apparently voted up by people who don't know enough about either algebra or Calculus to say anything meaningful.

  • @egatesaleks Well constructed criticism, your comment is very "meaningful".. Please send my regards to your 2nd grade teacher.

  • @Theauthenticmindset Buildings and architecture don't make up the majority of all objects and shapes on the planet. What about rocks, and sand, and water, and air, and trees, and animals, and humans? Those aren't all "perfect" shapes. I think that is what the video was referring to.
