  • Wow, I had no clue FF did a cover of this. I like this more.

  • I cant imagine why you would think that Fear Factory has helped JG Thirwell & Roli Mosimann=Wiseblood? cept for some royalties. Its kinda like saying Charles Manson helped the Beach boys. I suggest you check out more of JG Thirwells extensive back catalogue as well as his producing credits and and rethink that as more like who he has helped.

  • Both versions are amazing. Period.

  • I have the first press of this LP and its not terrible!

  • Considering when this was made, it's a crazy good song. However, I think Fear Factory's cover sounds better simply because the sound Wiseblood was going for didn't exist, at the time. It's a good song, either way, and I'm glad I found this version, because it's not on Spotify.

  • @AROAH1337

Its not like it didn't exist. Its two different goddamn genres. Plus JG Thirwhel and the dude that used to be in the swans were working with completely different equipment- they were going for a different sound.

  • @AROAH1337 Same thing here. I had no idea this was a cover. Fear factory helped out Wiseblood out if anything. And yes, FF version is better because this version is missing the oomph of bass that the song needs.

  • Great song

  • Fear Factory is better in my opinion, I don't get the big deal here. Bands do covers because they like the songs and want to play it... usually they make the song better anyways.

  • @RazerDrummer901 FF version is amazing but considering this was done way before it deserves much more credit.

  • love and devotion

  • Never heard this before... this is kinda cool.

  • Compared to FF version this sounds weak.

  • You guys are clowns. I loved the FF version, didn't even know til now that it was a cover, and I definitely agree that this is the better version. Much better conveys the sense of chaotic evil. Even though FF's has more grimey vocals, it's very standardized and a bit cookie cut in style. This version is very unique.

  • OMG, follow the history. It goes Foetus, Then Skinny Puppy then Fear Factory.

  • How can this be compared to Fear Factory's version? It is obviously much better, but it never would have existed without this, which is decent, so I give it props.

  • Christ, do half of you not even know who Foetus is? FF did a decent cover, but it doesn't come close to the original. Besides, they covered it because it's a good song, and if it weren't for bands like Wiseblood, Foetus, and Swans, there would be no Fear Factory. So quit bitching.

  • HAHAHAH what the fuck!! This makes me think of a retirement home, or carnies. Fear Factory version is MUCH better. Even spine tingling, if you have a system worth mentioning.

  • who is fear factory?

  • CASTLE KILLER!!! there is no debate. its all tunes. GRIZZLY SACRIFICIAL SLAUGHTER!!!!

  • @OBAMFSpike It's actually Kasso Killer. I know, I thought it was Castle too.

  • @manka6 Thanks! All the years spent screaming Castle Killer. Well, thats not to hard to change up. Kasso Killer huh? Now I feel that I need to do research on this song.

  • This is gay. The FF version is waaaay better!

  • all versions of this song are bad ass if you know what it's about. There's a book called "Say you Love Satan". and I do.

  • Songs like this walk the line with bad taste and extreme awesomeness so ahead of its time!! PS Should I also mention something about FF? has anyone done that duuuuhhhhhhhh WHO CARES!!!! arguing about covers is beyond a waste of time LONG LIVE THE NEW FLESH but seriously all your ages are showing LISTEN TO FOETUS REAL HARD AND TRY AND GO BACK TO FEAR FACTORY!! GO ON!!

  • covers in general suck.

  • Umm... GET BOTH! FFs version is great, but I like this one too. Thanks!

  • alright... this was horrible. bad production, the vocals sounded like a bad joke, what was all that "ow!" stuff in the middle? seriously, fear factory made this song listenable. that is all.

  • @jasonbigelow fuck you the fear factory cover is just as good as the orginal

  • ok, so there is a cover by FF...lets check it out.

anyhow, dis dirtdish album is one of my favourite tattoos on my soul.

  • Not 2 mention Foetus influenced FF and other bands!!!

  • Look up "Rikki Casso"" the acid king.Chilling story!

  • @Blokechest Damn Striaight. "Say you love Satan!"

  • Why do so many people find it so difficult to see good in two things at once?

  • You can watch the movie "Where Evil Dwells" (this song was created for the soundtrack) at ubu dot com

  • No shit who cares about who covers this song. do some fuckin' research ppl. there's a story behind these lyrics.

  • @crazyirishdan... & for every 3rd or so person shaking their head about someone knowing what true industrial music is, there is a 4th or 5th or millionth like you who takes more time to complain about it then I took to write a comment... Wow very funny!! I think people like you have no room to give advice on maturity other than to yourself. Please don't be butt-hurt or waste any more time with messages directed at me: To do so would be even more pathetic, instead, just accept that we disagree.

  • People who take bands like Fear Factory & Slipknot over bands like Foetus & Godflesh are funny. Hey guys; don't forget to shop at Hot Topic to complete your taste in music with some really trendy clothing. But when you check out and have your conformist angry metal kid look complete, go home and get to know some bands that make real industrial music. Bands like Swans, Godflesh, Dissecting Table & Scorn have been making real industrial music since the 80's

  • @pathogensmusick I would say everything above is pretty redundant; I was turned onto this song by the FF version long before I ever heart of Foetus or Godflesh; I've listened to all four but for completely different reasons. FF/SK are both metal bands with industrial elements and neither claims to be industrial.

For every person going apeshit for either band/approach there's at least a third shaking their head sadly at both of them, wondering when they're going to show some maturity...

  • LAMELAME LAME. FF's version is 100's times better. He sounds like hes just talking in this version. It's gay.

  • lmfao this is so boring... chopped and screwed...1:07 lol hahahaha

whatever, either way, im glad this song exists... by FF!

  • Now FF ver is so much better....This sounds childish and retarderd.

  • foetus is the man! This came out in 87' when a lot of u were sucking on ur mothers tits! A pointless remake by FF. Most of u don't even know what this song is about!

  • Fear factorys version is far more superior

  • Fear Factory's version runs circles around this.

This is terrible. You mad? Deal with it. "smug".

  • Not trying to be a dick, but the vocals sound like they're being done by somebody with downs.

  • He has a kinda slingblade thing going there, hmmmn.

  • I had no idea mall metal band Fear Factory had covered this. Could only be terrible. Foetus and Wiseblood weren't perfect by any means but at least this is their own. I don't see how FF would contribute anything new or worthwhile to this.

  • wow...way to have your song blown out of the water by another bands cover.

Seriously, this blows cock...Fear Factory's is way the hell better.

  • Totally, utterly, agree with you.

  • Good but the ff version is way more brutal.

Props to wiseblood for making this :D

  • Fuck Fear Factory

Overproduction and trying too hard to be "evil". JG doesn't need post-production to be creepy and unsettling.

  • wow this version is fucken retarded, the FF version makes me wanna kill people, this one....not so much

  • stumo is a young bloke

  • Like most guys I've heard FF's version first. This (original as I understand, right?) sounds too much German, which usually (not always) mean soft and nearly toothless. 8D

Look on net, no, they are Americans, OK, somethimes I do mistake. 8D

  • @SwineNahNah

Wow, way to make yourself look ignorant. They are not American or German. FF covered this for a reason. It is edgy. The song is about a killer in NY in the 80s. A lot of the lyrics written by this guy have jokes thrown in. (including this song). I never heard the FF version until 3 minutes ago. It sucks. They id not change enough to be considered a good cover and the mastering is shit. Too much compression.

  • @TheRandomn0ise

I just looked on web... so, not Americans, OK, so what?

And some years (mm, 5-6 maybe?) ago I looked up about story under the lyrics, bt I've might have missed some humor in it, true,

  • @SwineNahNah

  • @SwineNahNah actually one of them is an Australian that now lives in America

  • You know, I heard FF's version first and it scared the living shit out of me, that was in 2001. and now, in 2010, I am listening to this.......Haaaaaaaa.........lol, the funniest shit I'v ever heard in my life.

  • i actually hate thisversion... just a matter of opinion tho. Fear factories vocals Kill this version in a fashion. Plus they are so much more in your fucing face with it.

    MY OPINION

  • this song is covered in grit, I've never heard anything so gratingly intense, vocals are raw/ not aestheticized. Absolutely no pollish by a metal scream, vocal trainer dickwad.

  • this is tight who is it

  • Sounds less heavy than FF, and the vocalist sounds like he's trying a bit too hard to sound "evil", but it's still a great song. I just like FF's version better.

  • Fear Factorys Cover Is Way Better

  • It's good, but not like this. This is Masterpiece.

  • @kretinkooper

    You are one smart bastard!

  • Dead Milkmen cover is way better.

  • I like the original song and Fear Factory's cover. Why is there such a huge debate? Good bands do covers of songs that deserve it. Fear Factory wouldn't have covered this if it didn't deserve it, so they obviously see this as a good song.

  • @ArchetypeZero I prefer this version, but I wouldn't have even have found out about Wiseblood if I hadn't heard Fear Factory's cover.

  • say you love satan

  • most awful gay shit ever, FF can easily beat this so called attempt of song

  • hail ricky kasso

the acid king lives on forever

    say you love satan

  • You sound gay for Ricky Kasso.

  • Fear Factory does a damn good cover of this song... and i agree with anyone who says the vocals sound more brutal on the FF version.

  • really? o.k.

  • i think they both sound the same....

  • how can you dispute. This is the inseption.

  • Can someone tell me who the song is about can't remember his name THANKS!!

  • Ricky Kasso

  • Go with the composer over the poser. Anybody can ape.

  • this version's alright & a bit entertaining (With its foretelling of bands like latter-day Ministy, Godflesh, Skin Chamber & such bands), but the Fear Factory version is just downright savage, a great throwback to the sound found on their "Soul of a New Machine" album & easily the highpoint of the otherwise terrible & disappointing "Obsolete" album (That is if you buy the Digipak version)

  • @GasmaskAvenger:

obsolete was great; better than digimortal and archetype (anything from the last decade).

  • the Fear Factory version sounds better. vocals sound more demonic

  • No way. Fear Factory is good, but this version is ancient power.

  • the FF vocals sound more more ''devilish' in my opinion

  • @Chapas45: This came out a year before Land of Rape and Honey, and Twitch really did not sound anything like this. It is more accurate to say that Ministry (circa Land) reeks of Foetus/Wiseblood/etc.

The FF just has more guitar and more production, if you like that sort of thing...

  • yeah, i was thinking of rape and honey when listenting to this. if i didn't have fear factory's obsolete, i would have guessed that this was al jourgensen.

and it was FF that turned me on to the more industrial bands like ministry and wiseblood.

  • Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Fear Factory, though I went through Skin Chamber first.

  • yeah.. the FF version is awesome

  • Man, this reeks of al jourgensen and ministry (which is not a bad thing). But Fear Factory's version is better.

  • I love FF, but I think their covers tend to miss the spirit of the originals. Either way though, good fucking song =)

  • fear factory did an awesome cover of this song, but this one sounds darker if you get me.

  • I got ya. heard it on acid 15 years ago. Took this long to find this tune again, has the same affect without acid. Feel ruined.

  • Yeah I've got to say Fear Factory's version was much better.

  • Fear factory did a pretty fucking awesome cover of this, original still sounds cool
