  • Great videos! This is probably the only series of videos that I've found that take you from beginning to end on building a quad. I've been doing so much research on what to buy. The biggest task is creating a wiring harness. Noob question: does different gauge wire regulate how much voltage or amps a device uses? Like the LED or FPV cable... can I attach it to the harness without worrying about destroying my led lights?

  • @ALTN8NRG Hi , i normally i used wires that match the same thickness as the ESC's wires , the ESC's i used are 30A and comes with 14awg wires so i used 14awg wires to connect all the ESC's together with the custom wiring harness but the wires that i used to plug the battery its a bit thicker than the wires that go to the ESC's , 12awg . my opinion the wire gauge its not about regulating the power but matching the ESC's wire thickness ensure that the ESC's will get the proper amount of power .

  • @ALTN8NRG When i make this custom wiring harness i did install a JST connector that its attach to thin wires about 22awg , they might regulate the amps somehow but as far as i know most FPV TX and LED lights are design to handle the amps on hobby quality batteries , as longest you don't exceed the voltage that the hardware its design to handle you should be ok with the amps your FPV TX or LED lights will get from the lipo battery .

  • Curious... For that cable that you added for the led lights... What if you wanted led lights, fpv, low voltage alarm etc... Could you add multiple cables the same way you added the one in your video? Are there issues that I should be aware of?

  • @zpalmer Hi , the little red JST cable/connector that i used on this quadcopter originally was intended to be used as a auxiliary power cable for FPV or LED lights but in this quadcopter i end up using it to power the LED lights but i build another quadcopter with a similar wire layout that is powering my FPV system , if you want to build something like this with 2 or more auxiliary JST's connectors to power different devices that should work like what i got , just fine .

  • @zpalmer If you decide to build a similar ESC's wiring harness like mine don't connect the low voltage battery alarm to the auxiliary JST red connector , the low voltage battery alarm was intended to be used directly to the balancer connector on your lipo battery .
