The only choices i had back in the day for TV was NBC CBS ABC and a couple of other channels. so when the time came i would skip over Leno and wait for Coanan's show.
When he talked about being cynical I felt like he was speaking directly to me. I am guilty of being one of the most cynical motherfuckers I know. Thanks Conan I will try to be a better person because of you.
@piper4seeformerly Clearly you are just an ass who is too lazy to really try hard. Because with Conan's case, he did work hard. And look where he is now. He has his own show. Its the same with everyone in life. You work hard, and it pays for itself in the end. Maybe you should be less of a jaded asshole and actually give his words some thought and practice.
@linx678 Yes well, perhaps I shouldn't drink when I post comments. But I don't believe it's "the same with everyone in life". But I could've been less rude couldn't I?
@JackElrich Now wait a minute..I explained that I was intoxicated at the time I wrote that. Normally I wouldn't write that sort of remark. I was drunk. It was not directed at anyone here, and it does not accurately reflect my feelings toward Conan. I think my response to linx678 should've clarified that for you. Then again maybe you didn't read it. I dont' know. It WAS kind and so is this response. Don't judge hastily.
Calling Kaeonan.... it is time for you Conan O'Brien to return home. Your people beckon you to stop tweeting, abandon this shithole of a planet, assume your true life form, and prepare to Gnarfle the Garthock. Mr. Conehead
conan was right good things happen im living proof last january i landed my dream of hosting my own show too bad it was a one night gig o made a speech to my audience too cause ui wanted to tell everyone thank u . the guy who handed me the show stood aside saying u know give it to kelly this is his dream i stood there when the show ended accepting the audiences applause im in tears it was closet to the tonight show i ever will have oh check my youtube account and watch my opening monologue
For everyone that doesn't know Conan, watch this and you'll see how extremely intellectual he is compared to practically anyone in show business today. All everyone says is how goofy he is compared to the other late night hosts, but just because you don't get it doesn't mean it's goofy. The man is brilliant.
If this was Jay Leno, he would make some cheesy jokes about how much NBC sucks, and the audience would laugh whenever they see that applause sign light up.
go see his doc. he made when he was off for 7 months its really good made me love him even more... go ahead call me a homo conebone69 is the king. his movie is called Conan O'Brien dont stop
This was awesome. NBC treated him like crap, and he could of said anything. He handled the situation with class and respect and he is a great person for that.
i LOVE what he said about cynicism, coming from someone who's always indulged her cynicism, it was like getting a much needed, loving slap in the face.
Such a class act. His quote "Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get, but if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen" is one of my all time favorite quotes.
3:19-3:25 a moment i thought I'd never see...Conan almost crying. I love how he got so vulnerable and how the appreciation and loyalty of his fans made him tear up. he is so grateful for the life he leads. Love you Conan
@fireplacetea I don't think a clip exists on the internet, I've never seen one. The speech was about 10 minutes long since he had 16 years worth of thanks to give. He cried a couple times, first talking about Lorne Michaels and again talking about his wife and parents.
This was a great speech. I think it is somewhat analogus to how some people can feel after being married for 20 years and having a great time most of them, and then separating because of a dispute.
I remember when I saw this speech initially I started crying, I thought it was a very moving final speech. I really like the part where he talks about being cynical.
i hosted a show at primetime for one night i did a speech like this to my audience thanking them for all the support they all showed at my hosting a charity towards the end im trying not to cry as i look at everyone and thank them i mentioned conan was right good things happen to good people even thanked the people who never get thanked the backstage hands the band who filled as houseband and our audience and our players i even thanked for use of the hall that was donated ans the cuecard guy
thanks Conan....you gave me the courage to have sex with my 10th grade teacher!!!! I didn't think she would since she's married, but it was the best ever!
@Pentech2u My teacher has a crush on me, but I was too nervous to ever follow through with her, but Conan gave me the courage to see her outside of class...and it was worth it!
cinan was right good things happen to good people i dod stand up for a local charity for years then this year un january i got to host the show i made my own speech during the show in between the acts we had in the show i was like i wanna thank our loyal viewers who supported us all theses years i wanna thank walter for stepping aside and offering me the show i even thank the behind the scene crew and our houseband when i was dine i almost cried i see why conan loves his job
What a classy guy. He could have totally gone out there without any repercussions and bashed the crap out of NBC for taking him out and putting Leno back, but he didn't. He left with dignity and was very composed throughout the whole situation. I know it would be very hard to do and Conan handled it perfectly. The way he handled everything could not have been any better. He left with class, he fought for a ton more money for his staff (and won), and he didn't rip on NBC for anything. That shows
I literally will no longer watch a single second of Jay Leno anymore (not that i did much before this whole shebang), no matter what it is or who the guest is--TV, youtube video, whatever. Conan really earned a whole generation's respect and love forever with his classy behavior during the entire debacle and now I follow him endlessly and watch his show EVERY night.
all i ask is one thing, and i'm asking this particularly of young people. please do not be cynical. i hate cynicism...for the record, it's my least favorite quality, it doesn't lead anywhere. nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. but if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen. i'm telling you, amazing things will happen. i'm telling you, it's just true. -conan o'brien
Not gonna lie, I teared up at 3:19. I felt a mix of emotions. I felt sadness for him, while also feeling proud for standing with him until the end. I think we fans can all feel proud for standing with him. I love Conan. I think his TBS show is great!
Wow! What a positive response to a very negative event in a very talented comedian's career. I especially appreciate the positive vibe and disdain for the cynicism
how could anybody dislike this video? Whether you hate Conan or not, this is an all around pure class speech. Conan is TEN TIMES the host Leno is simply because you can tell how much he cares about the show and doing it right, rather than the money or the fame. I hope his new show destroys Leno
The only choices i had back in the day for TV was NBC CBS ABC and a couple of other channels. so when the time came i would skip over Leno and wait for Coanan's show.

Things Conan can do that Leno can't:
1. Be funny.
2. Improvise when monologue jokes fall flat.
3. Make esoteric joke references.
4. Experiment with new ideas for comedy bits.
5. Play guitar.
6. Risk making himself look silly to get the audience laughing.
7. Sing & dance.
8. Run ten feet without getting winded.

how could anybody dislike this video? Whether you hate Conan or not, this is an all around pure class speech. Conan is TEN TIMES the host Leno is simply because you can tell how much he cares about the show and doing it right, rather than the money or the fame. I hope his new show destroys Leno
