  • I could make a very smart comment, I could make a point, I could start a discussion, but I'm gonna use this space to make a stupid comment:

Richard Dawkins abused on the make-up. Too much blush, girlfriend! =D

    Remarkable man, nonetheless.

  • As always dealing with real life problems, not worrying about all the idiots in the world.

  • To top comment up there about him being selfish, it would seem to me his point is that "the state of the world" is out of his sole and personal control. Goals unfulfilled keep people up at night. Goals should be attainable, measurable, conceivable, etc. "The state of the world", what the hell is that? How do you "win" at the state of the world?

  • @NielCramer If the state of the world and, if you open your eyes, all the little and big wrongnesses do NOT worry you, you must be quite...unemotional. It's overwhelming. It's not about winning at that, it's just that a lot of stuff runs wrong. If you're into evolutionary biology you see just too clearly WHY and HOW humans f*** up this planet and also why it's almost inavoidable (I might be a pessimist). It's about compassion, not control.

  • @TheEodtch hes a douche bag for founding charities? seems legit

  • @TheEodtch I think you're mistaking him with a catholic priest.

  • @TheEodtch Alright, you asked for it.

    1. How do you lock somebody under your bed? Moron.

    2. He's a genuine person, whether you want to admit it or not.

    3. He's not the pope, he's Richard Dawkins. He isn't a child molester.

  • @TenAyShusD33 I asked for three sentences that sound and make you look retarded. Well damn I sure go that.. LOL Dawkins looks and talks like a pedophile. I bet he is a pedo. You sound really stupid.

  • @thinkbiggerthanthat What else could he do?

  • He's what keeps me up at night.

    No homo.

  • Apparently his wife doesn't keep him awake at night lol

  • @thinkbiggerthanthat I think he was answering honestly and honorably. Need I remind you he's 'plugging' CHARITABLE organisations. Worrying about how to keep helping people is what keeps him up at night. Go fuck yourself

  • Goddamn, people. Selfishness isn't inherently bad! If he stays awake worrying about personal matters, how can you really judge him, even if he sleeps well at night? It's practical and helpful to humanity that someone influential and intelligent like him can get his 8 hours. Some people seem disappointed that he is a real person, not a cold methodical machine that is programmed for the serving solely the lives of others.

  • @raulsnchez Oh right so only worrying about things that are in your control is selfish..

  • @raulsnchez he's talking about how he stays awake at night worrying how to make his charitable foundations run well and stay efficient. yeah sounds real selfish. man are you stupid

  • @Kanye3113 No you fucking retard. Are you stupid or just can't read? Did I say he was a douche for his charity? Oh no I didn't. Good lord why do dipshits like you write to people?????????????????

  • @raulsnchez fucktard

  • @raulsnchez stupids like you should be banished from under intelligent video discussions. Your out of nowhere comment is inconsequential and purely does not make any connection at all to what Richard Dawkins said.

  • Lets see how can i run an institute based upon "Reason and Fact"? How do i eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich? Do i open my mouth first or smash the sammich up against my mouth? Richard Dawkins is an anti-intellectual.... calling things FACT based upon evidence rather than proof!

  • @culturalhonesty Oh come come, we all know that to search for completely undeniable proof of something is a hole that nobody can go down. If we want to prove something to a degree which is useful to us today, then all we need to do is find evidence which outweighs any other potential hypothesis that we can come up with. To find ultimate proof of anything would take us back through several centuries of philosophical works, to Descartes and Foundationalism - a childish endeavour.

  • @ASaxonAtHeart all i am saying is, Dawkins abuses his intelligence and status in the scientific world by posing his educated opinions as absolutes. Scientists are not really concerned with logic and reason, they have preconceived notions of how they want something to work, and they search for evidence that proves their desires correct, the new piltdown man is racial equality... not working out so well

  • @culturalhonesty not to mention, in many disciplines they have created groups and peer reviews to dismiss anything that differs from their desires or preconceived notions.

  • @culturalhonesty Excuse me? You say and I quote "Scientists are not really concerned with logic and reason", I say you have lost your mind! To claim such drivel would be to claim that science is nothing more than a pseudoscience. Reason and rational thinking have a massive part to play in chemistry, biology, astronomy, physics and quantum!

  • Hmmm. I thought it was Christopher Hitchens always bothering him for fellatio that was causing him those sleepless nights...

  • @Redshield666 Um, much as I might typically wholeheartedly second your proposal, I don't think I feel comfortable making those kinds of jokes about a person who died less than a month ago.

  • @arcangel050692 Hitch wasn't uncomfortable about making jokes about Falwell DAYS after his death, lighten up! Hitchens was the MAN!

  • @arcangel050692

Funny... it doesn't bother me at all! And, like someone else has noted, Hitchy didn't let anyone else's death stop him from slandering and mocking them, did he?

Know what? Fuck the drunk and the pompous ass he rode in on!

  • @Redshield666 Right on brutha, but I'm a liberal atheist ;D

  • @Redshield666 Hmm, in that case, tempting. However, do I want to lower myself to his level? Not a chance. Does making jokes about him almost month after his death quite lower one to his level? Probably not, so I guess I'm fine with it then. Joke away!

  • @arcangel050692

    Who's joking?

  • @Redshield666 I see what you did there... :)

  • I am mildly bipolar ( cyclothymia) and that can on occasion keep me awake at night. Nothing else does. Once I am sleepy enough off I go up the wooden hill to Bedfordshire !!

  • Any one of the GOP candidates winning the election next Nov. keeps me up at night. :(

  • @mjh012363 Is Ron Paul included in your list or is he an independent?

  • @HeavnIsEarth Especially Ron Paul becoming President!!

  • Me, me, me.

  • I wish I could keep him up at night :c

  • Youtube

  • "Hey, I'm a loser that is going to argue with another loser in the comments section. I'm so cool!"

  • what keeps Richard up at night? losing dabates with Creatinists no doubt.

  • religious obsession that what keep him up at night

please Dawkins stop your obsession and focus in science more

  • @Boxingdufus666: "I came with a conclusion that believing something that came from nothing (big bang)is a bigger miracle then believing in godblablabla""

Holy shit, you really are an idiot

  • @Theboxer69

Biblemaggot, quranpussy, its all the same BS to me, fuckspank

    You're all dangerous fuckin idiots

  • Watching porn on the internet! Keeps me up all night!

  • insomnia caused by Coffee and Red Bull.

  • lol... it's not "whether there is a God" that keeps Dawkins up at night... rather it's "whether I am pleasing God" that keeps him up.... that's what I took this little interview to mean.... lol

  • things that keep him up is god's wrath when he will meet him

  • @Theboxer500 IF that exists and if that if it does exist that it's your god of the millions of versions and IF your god wasn't just your ego personified.

  • @Theboxer500

    Youre an idiot, biblekisser

  • @sonykroket I didn't realize how many hypocritical atheists are on youtube. You wanted freedom for your athletic faith and you got it. That gives you no right to ridicule ppl of other faith, when they try to state their opinion. BTW evolution has more flaws, i mean the whole god damn thing is like a unstable building ready to collapse on itself. What i have noticed is that if you can find one flaw in evolution (and there are millions of flaws) the whole thing collapses on itself.

  • @Theboxer500 I have to point out that 'athletic' has nothing to do with 'atheism' despite them starting with the same three letters. Atheism means you don't believe in God. Being athletic means you are fit, in good shape physically. An atheist can be athletic, but not all atheists are. Similarly, not all athletes are atheist.

That was me keeping my opinion out. My opinion is: You are an ignoramus spouting shit he doesn't know about. The very fact you even think atheism is a faith is ludicrous.

  • @FrisianDude my apologies for using the word atheistic i didn't know what that meant at the time. BTW I think it is deluded for an atheist to say that he doesn't have a faith and it is complete nonsense. Plus don't think of me as an ignorant because i have read too many books about evolution and have looked at the both sides (religion and evolution). I came with a conclusion that believing something that came from nothing (big bang)is a bigger miracle then believing in god. God makes more sense

  • @Theboxer500 Naw see, what I meant was that there are also atheistic religions. Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and quite a lot of others are theistic faiths, but there are atheistic ones as well. That's why it's silly to say 'atheism' is a religion. If anything it can be seen as an umbrella qualifier. There are religious people who don't believe in a or more Gods, there are those who do. There are also atheists who don't follow a religion at all, and that is what 'atheist' usually refers to.

  • @FrisianDude yes but you see, atheism is a faith too. Everything that ppl believe in is considered faith.

  • @Theboxer500

Dumbass, how is being bald a haircolor?

  • @sonykroket What are you talking about????

  • @Theboxer500 So you're going to sit there and tell me that my lack of belief is faith? I believe only what has REAL testable proof. Which is the opposite of faith. A-theist. Non-Theist. How is a lack of faith... faith? Not stamp collecting isn't a hobby.

  • @LunarFuror you just sounded like a complete deluded moron just by that short sentence. Even if it's a lack of belief it's still believing that god isn't real and believing is called faith, idiot. You know it's funny how atheists are all about facts and try to act like they are the next wannabe "scientist" and shit. Clearly atheism is based on emotions not facts or knowledge. No matter how many evidence is given to prove that god is real, you will still try to reassure you self that he isn't

  • @Theboxer500 I don't believe god isn't real. I believe god may very well be real, i believe in the POSSIBILITY of god. But as I haven't seen one bit of this evidence that can't be explained by science, I do not believe in god at the moment. If you're arguments to try and get someone on the fence to your side is to call them deluded morons then insult them, and then not SHOW any evidence. I see no reason to want to be grouped with a bunch of ass holes, even if it means roasting in hell.

  • @Theboxer500 Furthermore, your definitions of belief and faith are wrong. Faith is defined as believing in something without evidence. They are not the same. Get a dictionary, look them up. Don't come to me calling me a moron when you cant even define 2 simple terms. I never said i wanted to act like a scientist, I never based anything on emotions, my strong Christianity was based on emotions. I read the bible more than once. Now I'm atheist. If you're done being a presumptuous prick, we'll talk

  • @LunarFuror

"A strongly held belief or theory

the faith that life will expand until it fills the universe"

  • @Theboxer500 What?

  • @LunarFuror that's what i found in the dictionary. I know i was right but it seems nonsense that you say, "faith and believes are complete opposite things"

  • @Theboxer500 Are you illiterate? I never once said faith and belief are completely opposite things, I simply said they aren't the same. You cant use a word to define it's self. Belief is in faith, faith cannot be belief. You dont care. You dont want to have an intelligent talk, I'm done but at least I tried. Have a good life. And when it ends, and nothing happens. You can find out then.

  • @Theboxer500

Youre a fuckin moron if you post crap like that, biblemaggot

  • @sonykroket Bible maggot? fuck you piece of shit

  • @Theboxer500

So you wanna fuck guys? Hmm, i thought all you bible and quranmaggots were a bunch of homophobic fascists?

Ah, i get it, in secret.

Thats called doing a Ted Haggard

  • @sonykroket what?? when did i say i wanna fuck guyz??? WTF is wrong with you, you stupid moron? Get back to your monkey cousins, atheist. This world belongs to god, not bunch of monkeys like you. Ted Haggard was a dumb fuck and i'm not Christian you idiot.

  • @Theboxer500 mythological creatures keep me up at night too

  • @theramenbuddha well then maybe you should start believing in god because he is real

  • @Theboxer500 obviously so do unicorns

  • @BrighterThunder unicorns do exist, obviously your too stupid to know what a unicorn really is.

  • @Theboxer500 I honestly hope you are joking, if not, you are literally the stupidest THING i have ever heard of. Seriously. The fucking single-celled organisms (that we see through SCIENCE) are fucking more useful than you. At least they have a reason to not have advanced thought, but you are truly a waste of fucking flesh. The day your parents had sex was the day that mankind got just a little more hopeless.

  • @BrighterThunder hey dumb fuck do you know what a unicorn actually means? The bible says that unicorns exist but it was referring to rhinos, there are two different species of rhinos. One is unicorn (one horned) and the other is bicornis (two horned). Search it up you stupid fuck. Oh yea the next time you wanna bash someone's beliefs and knowledge make sure that you are compatible for an argument, cause you just lost this one "you waste of flesh". Do i need to educate you more you stupid cunt???

  • @Theboxer500Pfff haha you just called me a stupid cunt right after i read a whole wall of text thats seems to be dedicated to bad spelling/grammar on the internet. And I'm bashing peoples beliefs? Yeah you can believe whatever you want, I'll stick to facts, you keep your 2000 year-old book filled with MASSIVE historical, and just plain logical inconsistencies, errors, and scientific and moral wrongs. Also, I laughed when you said you are "educating" me.

  • @BrighterThunder well i'm sorry for not believing that the big bang happened out of randomness and nothing caused it. Are you really that retarded to tell me that the universe created itself?!?! Do you realize how illogical that sounds, that's like me saying that i took a shit and over millions of years that shit turned into you. Which is believable considering how stupid you are. The universe creating itself is more illogical then a man turning water into wine, walking on water and healing ppl.

  • @Theboxer500 Wow. I just found the stupidest person on the internet. Because, it makes more sense that a large bearded man was bored one day and said "Welp, better go make Earth" than the Big Bang Theory. I would explain it too you, but I would be wasting my breath. Go kill yourself, bitch. Do us all a favor. Go choke on a donkey dick, I don't fucking care. But it's sad when you are a shining example of retards in a sea of retards. Again, you should consider suicide.

  • no it wouldn't be funny you stupid fucking atheist

  • @theMuffinMan9999 what's stupid is thinking deities created the world. i don't care if you think some bearded man in the sky made it or if it was ejaculated into being, dreamed up, or if we emerged from sheer chaos itself. just because you don't know the answer doesn't mean you have to find it. it also doesn't mean you have to make it up and it certainly doesn't mean you have to be violent over it.

  • @boxermaf And that makes you what then?

  • lmfao big think thought it was gonna be something inspiring!

  • how about the fact that Dawkins ran away from Christian Apologist William Lane Craig? I wonder if that keeps Richard Dawkins up at night?

  • @gerinja As he's said already, conceding to a debate to begin with would "look good on your cv, but not on mine".

It'd be like if William Lane Craig, in turn, went up against someone one year into their PhD and completely unknown. No matter who wins the actual debate, it's going to be obvious who "really" wins and who "really" loses.

  • @EvansRowan123 True. Besides, after Dawkins speaks at length, articulately and eloquently, about science and reason, all Craig (or any other believer) has to say is, "Well, I just don't believe that". End of discussion, everyone goes home.

  • @toAdmiller That's the horror of any rationalist; the burning cole under the feet of idiots. Sorry, let me rephrase 'idiots' into 'the ignorant with a laid out truth so there is no reason to think or educate my kids otherwise'.

  • @gerinja

Dawkins debated Craig last year in Mexico, and flattened him. All this bleating from Craig's lickspittles over the last few months is just a pathetic attempt to hide that fact.

  • he is aging well... god must not care

  • What keeps me up at night? Well, it's quite simply my deep obsession with fantisizing about beautiful women.

  • @TheSpyro94 hahaha you legend

  • @TheSpyro94 In other words porn. lol

  • And here I was thinking it was bananas, peanut butter, and the terrible crocoduck that kept Richard up at night...

  • Man, that guy isn't aging gracefully!

  • I was sure he was going to say the ocean of religious zealots on the front lawn of his castle dwelling, holding up torches and rolling in a guillotine.

  • @BrightStaroftheDawn Probably is starting to require larger moat now.

  • Dawkins is getting old looking.

  • @christo930 Well, he is seventy...

  • @TeeGeeFan I didn't know he was that old and his aging has accelerated in the last year or 2.

  • @christo930 True.

  • My noisy ass, white trash neighbors keep me awake at night...

  • I thought he might say global warming or nuclear proliferation or disease pandemics. Those things definitely do try to keep my awake sometimes.

  • haha thats hilarious, "...well, not the state of the world;"

  • That damn dog next door

  • Considering that this is the founder of the expression MEME, is not this another way of saying "what keeps me awake at night is the thought of procreation".

  • My goodness, he looks very old in this video. I'm afraid some of the great thinkers of our time may be soon leaving us.

Hitchens, Dawkins, Attenborough, Hawkins... The young flames are few and far in between...

  • @Androly Did you mean Hawking?

  • @ItsNotEvenSunny Did indeed.

  • "What Keeps Richard Dawkins Up At Night?"... as his age, probably Viagra!

  • Why do the video caller calls him "Evolutionary Biologist" ??? As far as I know, all biologists know evelotuion's a fact.

  • @Paumonsu It's not because of people not agreeing with evelotuion. It's because he studies why life evolved the way it did. He askes the questions like "why do humans stand on two legs and not four?", "why do we have two bones in our forearm?", and "why do we have blind sdpot in our eyes?".

  • @Paumonsu That's just his area of expertise. Other people are biologists as well but some focus on plants, or marine life, or genetics.

  • @Paumonsu They forgot the 'R'.

  • @Paumonsu He is an evolutionary biologist because he specializes in the biology of the gene-centered view of evolution. Mainly it's a title to replace Darwinist or Darwinian.

  • My God- what keeps me up at night is the madness of Macro-evolution being forced upon our kids in a slow but deliberate lawlessness in thinking anout every conceivable aspect of society's norms - a good example is the that son of a bitch atheist doctor who suctions out the brains of resting babies in the womb and desposits his blood moneyinto his bank account so he can drive around in a BMW. these 'educated' villains - there isn't a fire hot enough in hell to compensate for these vile atheists.

  • @whiteliketar

lol I guess it's too much for some christians to love one another as Jesus loved them, to turn the other cheek, or not judge people

    hypocrite

  • @whiteliketar You're kidding.

  • Comment removed

  • "When I was an atheist I hated every one elses god because I secretly worshiped one I thought I could control…the self….till I realized I couldn't and was gradually in hell on earh to hell eternal" - A once atheist now follower of Christ

  • @lowellkylewilliamson

"When I was religious I hated everyone elses God because I openly worshipped one I thought was loving...but realize there was no proof and that God was himself Evil....then I started to use reasoning and science and gradually found how amazing the universe and Earth are...and I wasn't loving the whole universe for God...but for myself!"

-A once devout christian now an Atheist.

Lol mine is a bit more complicated but yeah...I win.

  • @RebelManCam You can't prove God and you can't disprove God. Atheism can only be unverified assertion. Don't accuse others of that which plagues atheism. Also, what are you basing your judgments of God on? God is evil, based upon who's morality? Yours? Your society which is based upon Judeo/Christian morals? Who's to say that your morals are correct or there even is such a thing as good or evil? Also, I love how atheists throw out the words reason and science and think that they somehow won.

  • @clebcal1

    :p i'm an agnostic-atheist my friend!

Even if moralities were to come from Judeo/christian faith it doesn't mean if your an atheist you have none! I shall not accuse you anymore my friend if it affects you that badly and I base my judgements from reason not just science...you see, If there is a God then it wouldn't be a "man-in-the-sky" kinda God it would be just an...Upper Being that is not good or evil and is not the form of any animal. I see God only as Evil as the Bibleshows

  • @RebelManCam Atheists can live moral lives and find value in things. But it's ultimately arbitrary. Also, what makes your reason so trustworthy seeing that if it's an evolutionary chance occurence? What makes your pronouncements upon the Bible truth? You can build your case against the morality of the Bible but in the end you're like a person building a house upon water with bricks made out of water. Stop making absolute statements when you have no absolute truth to draw from.

  • @RebelManCam Also, if there is an "Upper Being" it would have to be eternal, all powerful, and all good. We see beauty, personality, and love in this world and thus it must be a reflection of the creator. You can't give what you don't have. If the Upper Being creates that which is good it must be good. You cannot say that it created evil because evil is simply a lack of good, God may allow this lack in order to facilitate and accentuate the ultimate good but he cannot be evil or even neutral.

  • @clebcal1 Why can't it be neutral? In fact, if we are to go by nature I would say this Upper Being is outright sadistic, as most of the natural world around us would kill us in an instant. Floods, fires, poisonous animal, non-poisonous animals that want to kill you just the same, not to mention the number of people that inertia has killed. Yes, there is great beauty in the universe. But over 99% of that beauty would kill you instantly if you were part of it, rather than on spaceship earth.

  • @Argonnosi You have no basis to make such claims. In the atheist's universe there are no moral/ethical standards. Who's to say what is right and wrong? Who says sadism is wrong? Who says that the people who eat their neighbors are less moral than those that are told to love their neighbors? Unless you're borrowing from Judea/Christian standards which most atheists who by default have to do - you have no grounds to judge God or anyone else.

  • @clebcal1 Actually, sadism has an objective definition. Any creature which enjoys inflicting pain and suffering upon other creatures is, by definition, sadistic. This isn't actually a moral claim at all, but merely a simple summation based off of the observed behavior. And so, the God of the Bible, appearing to enjoy causing suffering upon all those humans who supposedly betrayed him, fits the definition of the word sadistic. So, I'm not actually talking morals here. But, I can.

  • @clebcal1 So I will. The simple fact is that if morality is absolute (as many Christians claim) it must stand outside of God. For there is the question asked: Is something God says moral because it is, by nature, moral? Or, is something moral simply because God says that it is moral? If it is the first, then God is not the basis of morality, and God is subject to that morality. If it is the second, the morality has no basis other than the whim of a being demonstrated to be flawed and fickle.

  • @Argonnosi Your argument pivots on the fact that you and your assessments are not fickle or flawed and that your moral standards are not arbitrary. The Bible is clear - the punishment of evil is moral. Christians put their faith in something outside of themselves becuase they know they are fickle and flawed. You judge the God of the Bible upon your standards and whims in spite of the fact that you are fickle and flawed.

  • @clebcal1 If god wanted us to be moral, then he should made us moral, shouldn't he?

The omnipotent god. The omniscient god. He knew we would be flawed before he made us. Therefore he is a sadist for punishing people.

    If that's what you believe. I don't.

  • @maxergud Revelation 4:11. God made us for his pleasure, that's why he gave men foreskin, created unclean animals, made us ignorant and vengeful. If God wanted us to be moral he should have been moral himself. Instead he kills and destroys everything he disagrees with and gives the laws and rules only to a few select instead of telling everyone. If he does exist he is a wanker.

  • @maxergud then we'd all be angels...you try to find the smallest aspect of Christianity and corner it on some athiest based video where you know everyone will agree with you when your so far from the truth...let me guess you think in the beginning there was nothing and then nothing exploded and life was there? sounds like a fart more than athiesm

  • @sabertoothpanther ".let me guess you think in the beginning there was nothing and then nothing exploded and life was there? "

That has nothing to do with atheism. Crawl back in your trailer.

  • @maxergud there is a devil too dip shit....you are apparently under his influence

  • @shawnzi24 Do you have any evidence of this "devil"?

"There is only one god and his name is Death." - George R.R. Martin

  • @shawnzi24 I'd rather be under the influence of a devil who let's me choose who to follow, rather than a hateful, jealous, and sadistic god who demands worship and praise at the CHANCE to join his "heaven". I'll take my chances. At least if I'm in hell I can be with AC/DC and listen to some actually GOOD music.

  • @clebcal1 The omnipotent god made his beloved children imperfect so that he can condemn them? He allowed his beloved to sacrifice himself to atone for other peoples' sins? He wants us to believe in him yet he let all these naysayers and people of other religions to exist? Are you saying this omnipotent "god" created humans that do not believe in him and did nothing about it?

  • What keeps Richard Dawkins up at night?

    I hope it's Mrs. Dawkins. :D

  • the ending music sounds like a woman is going to say: "The more you know..."

  • it would be funny if he said it was his prostate.

  • @theunknownuser217 Or his wife.

  • @theunknownuser217 If it was, I have no doubt what so ever, that is precisely what he would have said.

  • He forgot to mention facing William Lane Craig in a debate.

  • @MartinHollandfilms WLC is a joke whose positions change from debate to debate, depending on who he's going up against.

  • @MartinHollandfilms

WLC only has a polished KCA. no original work, that deals with evolution. WLC believes this KCA is deductive (while in the physical sciences we know that scientific arguments are inductive, and than refers to a metaphysical intuition about metaphysics. Which he justifies by a denial or ignorance of Quantum Physics & Quasi Set theory (to deal with hilberts' hotel). WLC is a joke compared to Richard Swinburne. And he lacks any scientific values like intellectual honesty.

  • This was a non contribution to thought. What is he going to eat for breakfast tomorrow? How about that?

  • wow - um, that was shiiiiithouse

  • what is this annoying shyte music every now n then?

  • It'd be great if these weren't only 12 seconds long.

  • @dpaanlka Agreed.
