  • Love it! KU Rocks this song completely! I also have this DVD and I have been a fan for many years.. and many more to come!

Please, fellow KU fans, check out my cover of this during my live performance in Baton Rouge, LA! ;)

    Peace&Love

    Christopher Blake

  • 8:25 is awesome! (It all is actually.) I remember him doing this when opening for Kenny around 2004 at RFK Stadium, he had us all up and singing it too.

  • using a play from billie joe's playbook! I like it!

  • Love Keith singing this...he is so amazing..can sing anything and make it sound sexy and sooooooooooo..good for my soul...

  • Favorite artist doing my favorite song. DOES NOT GET BETTER THAN THIS!

  • Oh I wish I was Keith's guitar! :) ♥

  • @mcchick49:I disagree!!!

well performance wise this was better

but song wise john's performance was the best better than the original aswell....

and Im a keith and john fan too....

and i Just love Keiths voice!!!

    :D

  • love the piano part

  • love you Keith saw this live it was awesome

  • He is so awesome!!! Love going to see him in concert it's like a total high. Need to go see him again real soon.

  • He has so much fun when he performs, and you can see because the way he wants everyone in the crowd to have a good time too. He includes the whole audience in his performance, and I love that about him.

  • OMG...I found it! He's so freakin' hot! More, more, more!

  • 102% better than tom petty...never gets old

  • I dont think its a big enough deal for ya'll to be arguing over. If it was a mess up, its a mess up, it happens to everyone. If it wasnt, oh well . Not a big deal.

  • ahh i love him!!! awesome cover!!! cant wait to see him again!!! <3

  • bass fuck up at 2:09!!

  • It´s not a fuck up, it´s just a modulation since this song has the same chords over and over again to make it sound a bit different.

  • @cannonboll a modulation is another word for key change.. that wasn't a key change. I would agree with you if there were some continuity.. like he did it somewhere else in the song.. also considering the fact that that isn't in the original Tom Petty song.. accentuating an unusual note in the chord for a single quarter note of the song hardly constitutes as "artistic interpretation".

  • @bag2289: <modulation can also mean doing something outside the normal notes, wich he is doing here.

Sometimes to make it flow musically and to make things interesting o listen too good musicians actually does these things to make their own mark on a song.

You may think that this sounds good or bad but I tell you, it is done on perpose since I have heard several versions of this song with the same band and he does it every time.

  • no.. that's not what modulation can also mean. Sorry.

  • No matter what the word means to you, Im telling you it´s not a fuck up.

He is absolutely doing it on perpose.

  • It's not what the word means to me, it's what the word means to EVERYONE. And yes, it is a fuck up.

  • True. Same chords over and over, this is a nice change in that chord pattern :)

  • what he said in 5.35 there is always ---- LA?

  • check out mitch rossel doin this tune....EPIC to say the least

  • I love the Knopfler-style picking from 4:02 to 4:11

  • wow, I see why my mom listens to this guy a lot. I'm not a huge fan of country music, but I like this performance a lot.

  • anytime i hear free fallin' on the radio i think of keith & this version <3 he is BEYOND amazing. he IS the best performer i've ever seen and i've seen quite a few people, how he includes the audience and everything is aussome.

his aussie accent just makes everything better;]

    (:

  • This is probably the best version I have ever heard of this song, the accent is Aussie, since he is one naturally.

    Musicaly it´s great.

Why he´s not taking the high note in this song is because of 2 things, first he wants to let his fellow guitarist get a little shine and also he has a very long tour and he wants to save his voice since he sings so many songs totally.

But I guess you have to have been on tour to understand that!

  • mmmmmm....nahhhhhh

  • I like Keith Urban, but if he's the best performer you've ever seen, you probably ain't seen too many.

  • Don't sing the song if you can't hit the high notes and have to take the low part of the harmony in the chorus. "Is it a John Mayer cover"? ha! That is hilarious! That was a joke right? John Mayer didn't sing the chorus right either. Atleast Keith had someone to sing the high part for him.

  • The whole point of doing a cover is so you can sing it and play it in your own way, if you cover a song and play it as the original without adding your own tweaks then its pointless

  • @nvcfc18 what's funny about this one is that he hardly did anything different to it.. he almost played exactly as the record.. except Keith Urban is way fuckin cooler than Tom Petty so that made it cool enough as it is! lol

  • I think of Tom Petty Free Fallin

  • this is a original Mr.Tom Petty tune!!

  • is it a John Mayers cover?

  • actually, john mayer covered it too :)

  • ok, because of this song I just ordered the DVD. It's not sold in the Netherlands, but it's imported for me :D

  • i love how much he includes the crowd into the concerts, i think thats what makes him the best performer i've ever seen. He was amazing at the concert I went to.

  • @hunterjumper63 so you have clearly not seen or heard of Freddie Mercury

  • Wow!... Love gthe break @ 1:08!

Wish I would have been there!

  • i love this guy hes great

  • I think both Jonh and Keith version is good. I guess the feeling of these songs are different. John's version is more relaxy and Keith is much different. Both great!

  • This is the best damn version I have ever heard, and to the seven up high in the seats, you are forever will go down in history as part of the best of Keith Urban. Thank You.

  • love this version!!!!!!!!!

  • he does a great cover of this song. much, MUCH better then John Mayer (and i like John)

  • @mcchick49 he does a decent cover, i liked john's vocal arrangement more than keith's though

  • @mcchick49 entitled to your opinion, absolutely.. but the reason john's cover is so amazing is because many try to cover this song, and basically do a nice, good sounding cover, but not too much different from the original. kind of like everyone covering jeff buckley's cover of hallelujah. then ever once in awhile, a new one pops up, and its new take just pops. John's is a fresh pop, while this is a good tribute to Petty.
