How did you do the sunset time lapse? Are you using aperture priority? Or completely manual? I always get flickering when using the AE mode, even while locking down White balance.

I use the automatic setting with the flash turned off. The camera is connected to my laptop and I use the Canon software Remote Capture to automatically take pictures at low resolution, every 5 seconds usually. I use an old Canon s40 camera.

Yes its good to have some mid level clouds for the sunlight to work with. I have another video titled "Honolulu sunset time lapse" which has a more dramatic example of that underlighting effect.
