  • We need a baritone's lament.

  • do you still have the sheet music for this song??? cause id love to sing it :)

  • haha, i love this n.n

it reminds us altos that there is actually other girls wanting to sing the bass notes! :D im one of the lowest altos in our choir, wanting to sing soprano. this just made me feel better about myself :P

  • is there place to get lyrics?

Also try listen to this right after An Alto's Lament! Very funny

  • During some of that, you actually sounded just a little bit like Sutton Foster. I loved it!

I'm a Mezzo-Soprano to Alto range, but if I'm really careful I can hit some higher soprano notes....

  • very good! but the last note was sharp!!! such a shame - coz it was a brilliant performance! is the soprano in this song meant to be a good belter or a bad belter? is she meant to sing everything in her head voice? i'm interested cuz i wanna perform this one too! :)

  • Hey! Does anyone have the sheets for this?

  • This made me feel better about being an alto. It's true, my sister's are both soprano and they can't belt like I can ;)

  • @alyssaaWHATTx I was Mrs. Potts once before, too, but I'm a soprano. :)

The Julie Andrews/Idina Menzel part made me laugh SOOOO hard, because my voice has been compared to Julie's before but I want to sing like Idina. XO I would really love to sing this song somewhere, it's so cute!

  • I LOVE THIS! I have a cabaret coming soon & I would LOVE to sing this! Can you send me the sheetmusic to thisssss please! please! please! please! please! jjsingergirl@aol.com

  • Who wouldn't want to be Idina Menzel? Wish my belt was as good as Idina's :)

  • ehhh.. this is why I like altos.

  • Would ot be possible for you to post the lyrics I love that song but there are a few places were Im debating what you're actually singing

    Its amazing though =D

  • This is almost as funny as the Alto's Lament! ^_^

  • I am soprano.... And though yes I love it :) the one thing I have to lament about is that EVERY SINGLE MUSICAL my school does, the lead is ALWAYS a belting role, and there is no character that sing soprano at all.

  • Pshaw! A hilarious arrangement, but sopranos have it easy. Ok, so the characters are a touch boring- boo hoo! They are almost ALWAYS the leads. Try being an alto and getting screwed with a smaller part every flippin time. I still say tenors have it the easiest out of anyone.

  • @PiratesObsessor AMEN.

Been an alto my whole life.

    Know what I got?

    MRS. POTTS.

  • @alyssaaWHATTx Belle is a mezzo, though... the Wardrobe is a soprano. =)

  • @PiratesObsessor Story of my life! I am 16 but sang Tenor till this past year for the simple reason it is the easiest.. Now I am gone up to alto because there parts are usually a little funner

  • @PiratesObsessor Haha, trust me I used to be an alto, and being a soprano is just as hard. But the worst is being a Soprano two, it is so hard to sing right in the middle of the Altos and Sopranos. haha. Oh the musical ranges we all get stuck with. xD You gotta love 'em.

  • @SunsetsAre4Becca AMEN! We soprano twos have it the hardest. However I relate more with Alto's lament than anything....I was a soprano two who could sing as high as the soprano ones...and yet they always stuck me in with the altos because most of them sucked at reading music. Ugh.

  • Would you be willing to mail me the music (whether it's the original or your new arrangement)? I would pay!

  • It's funny cause you kinda look like Idina, but stick with Julie. ;)

  • I loved 'known as a clone of Julie Andrews when I'd rather be Idina Menzel!"

hell, I'd be happy to be known as either.

But seriously, although everyone seems to want the 'good' (soprano) parts, those characters are generally wimps

A little look at those roles:

    Les Mis - Cosette

    Spring Awakening - Wendla

    Phantom - Christine

    Seussical - Gertude

The Wizard of Oz - Dorthey

    Lovely girls. Stick-in-the-mud boring.

  • @SpringAwakener Dorothy a mezzo soprano, though... Over the Rainbow is crazy low.

  • I love this! If you ever get sheet music for it, I'd love to use it for auditions.

  • a.k.a. she wants to sing Alto, hehe

but STAY OUT OF THE CHORUS!!!!!!!!!!

  • who wrote the music and lyrics?

  • does someone have sheet music for this?

    that would be amazing!!!

  • @cxeazn That's the point

  • Comment removed

  • top sop and proud!

  • this is a great song! is there sheet music to this? or did you have someone write this for you?

do u have a backing track for this??

    great job!!

  • that was not belt! mixed, but not belt

  • mezzos lament: we don't fit anywhere

  • I sooo agree!

  • I know how you feel. My choir teacher can't decide where to put the 5 mezzo sopranos in our class so she decided to not decide. she gave us our own section. hehe.

  • hmm...Tenor. I'm good with what I am.

  • AMEN!!

  • Mezzo here.

We kind of just do what we're told. Heh. I'm actually pretty happy hangin' in the middle right here.

  • @Lazylivy i like being a mezzo -- we're more versatile. (: i got secret joy in high school from always have to switch the sides of the stage mid-concert.

  • I think that mezzos won the genetic lottery.

  • Hehe, some would disagree. Always singing too high or too low in SABT arrangements. Ah well, is anyone ever pleased?

  • I love being a mezzo! :)

  • i never thought sopranos had anything to complain about. altos always work hard to become sopranos.

  • Pfft, I'm an alto and I would never work hard to be a soprano! We're part of the base of songs that keep sopranos from sound high and obnoxious.

  • Where can I find the sheet music?

  • Hmmm... I love singing the part of the ingenue. =)

  • i can't wait for somebody to come up with a baritone's lament, song ;)

  • theres a soprano lament??? i have only seen the altos one

  • this song = story of my life

  • Who wrote this hilarious song??? We loved it!

  • I'm an alto! I always wanted to be soprano! :O

  • AMAZING

  • omg I love this! I'm a soprano too! Where can I find this sheet music?

  • wow! that was so awesome! is there sheet music for this that can be purchased?

  • Saw you last weekend in Paradise - how do you do it - from so serious to make me cry to so much fun that you make us laugh. We sat with Hannah and your Mom. You even made Hannah cry - you are one talented gal. But then - so is your Mom - how great about her play. Would imagine Hannah is also wonderful as a writer as John crtainly is. We are amazed at the talent in your family.

Take care and we will be keeping up with your and your family successes.

    Bonnie and John Rush

  • Love it! Who wrote it?!

  • I actually don't know--I was given the piece by someone I worked with in a master class, and the composer is not listed on the sheet music. However, for this performance I rewrote some lyrics and worked with my accompanist to create a new arrangement (adding several different songs). Glad you liked it!

  • Do you know if I could get the music somehow, because the cabaret show at our school is coming up, and I know one of the girls is doing Alto's Lament, and it would be so funny if I could come up after her and sing Soprano's Lament. haha. Let me know. Thanks!

  • Is there any place to get the music for this? I'll have to do some digging. This song is kinda perfect for my voice that refuses to fall in a part.

    Lovely job, by the way!

  • @charlottestarlet

Any chance you have shared this somewhere on the web? I would love to have it! :)

You sound great, love your interpretation

  • @charlottestarlet Would you be awesome and possibly share the sheets with me (a poor college student).

  • @newmoonfall This is not towards you moonfall, I truly was just having a small amnesic moment of how to post comments since I do it so rarely, and though I can see I am two years late to this viewing, a comment for the singer. Please don't ever sing anything in real life the same way you sang the end of that song. Being a classical dramatic soprano, I've just given up that I'll never be a Natalie Weiss or Idina Menzel or even a Kristen Chenowith, I'll just stay a Renee Fleminger.

  • haha great job girl! it's so rare to find good sopranos nowadays...and funny ones too! :)
