I've seen better videos, but what I like about this one is how you used clips with certain lyrics in a way only a true Doctor Who fan would understand. Like "left a certain impression in my head" and Donna, or "calling me by my name" and River.

One of my favorite Killers songs, by the way! I wonder if they are Doctor Who fans, because the song fits so well!

Considering you've only had SV for a short time, its good albeit with a bit of a effects overload thing going on.

General tip though, to make it fit the widescreen setting YT has adopted, use 640x360 or 720x406 with a pixel aspect ratio of 1 :)

Yeah, maybe a little bit of an overload. I think I realised it too when I was editing, but I figure that as it's one of my first with the programme people will forgive me and know that I don't plan on them all being this ridiculous.

Well! I think that since you have switched video makers, you have tried to over-include too many effects. :D I'm not so sure about the constant vortex in the background. But, to the positive side! Brilliant clips, nicely done. I think some effects did add a positive effect to the video, but others didn't. Still, I liked it. Nice song choice, fits okay. :D. But overall, very nicely done, but I would suggest you tune down on the effects a bit! Maybe make a few test vids before going for a big one.

Definatly know what you're talking about, there were several aspects of this that I thought were a bit overdone when I'd finished.

That is kind of what I've been doing though, testing things out.

I think at the moment, I'm just shocked to have access to the effects in the first place.

But I'll certainly be working on that ;)

Be careful not 2 over edit! I've seen a lot of people (including me :P) switch to a new editing program and over edit a video :S.

With an editing program like Sony Vegas, it's easy to accidentally go a bit overboard.

I thought the bars at the top and bottom got a bit annoying after wile but everything else was pretty ok.

wat version of vegas do u hav? I'm guessing it's a pro version coz movie studio doesn't hav masking :| which is a shame coz masking would be really useful 4 me!

I've got the Pro 8.0, yeah. And masking is brilliant (and I only just really figured it out while I was doing this, which is why I tended to use it a lot).

YES! I've been waiting for the longer version for this and its been well worth the wait! XD

The quality on this one isn't as good as some of your other videos i notice, but the special effects make up for all of that! I especially love the part with 'the walk' from voyage of the damned and the companions flickering onto the screen in time to the drum beat - that was amazing!! :D

My only criticism is maybe you overdid the eye zoom-ins a teeny bit but otherwise i loved every second of it! ^_^

I've noticed that my clips aren't as good quality (and they were never fabulous to begin with) might have decreased a bit in the making of this video, mainly because the file was too massive to upload to YouTube. It was -huge-. So I took the original file and ran it through Movie Maker to make it smaller, and the quality gets dulled down when something goes through that programme.

Argh.

I use Sony Vegas Pro 8.0, and my clips aren't DVD rips, no. I used to download primarily from YouTube, but it is a long and weary process and the clips aren't the best quality.

I recommend the programme Graboid, which allows free downloads that are ridiculously good quality.

And it's totally free :D

No probelm at all, I can totally relate.

I haven't got a Mac, so I've never used iMovie, but it can't be much better than the standard programme that comes with PCs, Windows Movie Maker (which I was using up until a week or two ago).

I actually downloaded the trial version of Vegas first off of the Sony website, and I know that there are code generators out there that can get you the programme for free.
