  • well with me in the oder of it I have no sense of smell I couldnt tell ya what a flower smells like from a skunk so when I go out I take my chances all the time I have an illistomy

  • @Dolphindream15 That must be incredibly difficult. I have noticed that my bag seems to last 1-2 days before odor become really bad.

  • @outpatient83 its very hard to describe to people what its like living without the sense of smell the only way I can describe it ,,,is its like everything smells like water,,,well water has no scent,,,then people ask me can I TASTE anything well,,your sense of smell DOES affect your sense of taste...I dont have the normal sense of taste I taste things much differently,,I drink alot of hot tea,,and I have to use splenda because of my dibitis in one cup of tea I use 10 packets

  • What was the reaon for your ostomy bag. I suffer from chronic LAZY intrstines.

I have switched my diet all around to help see if I coulf heal the intestines, I have healed them but I can not get them to work to move debree threw. At this point I have to take ebson salts to move my bowels. I'm sure its a great ajustment to the whole ostomy thing, but on the flip side of things it will be so wonderful to have my life back so that I can do things. Any coments are welcome.

  • Also don't know if you had the whole backend operation too but if so how long till you felt really healed? At this point it feels like it will take forever?

  • @deejer2 I did have the "Backend operation" as well. I do have to say that it took a while to feel fully healed. I would have to say that It took my back end the longest to fully heal and that was close to 6 months. But hang in there. There is light at the end of the tunnel, I promise. Message me and Keep me posted on your progress.

  • Oops. Home after 10 days. Wondering about how long it took to get your stoma fully going. On a low res and liquids diet but my out put doesn't seem to be matching my input!

  • @deejer2 It took me a few months to fully learn my input and out put of my body/stoma. now it seems to be like clock work.

  • Hi outpatient. I had my surgery july 9, here in Toronto. Got home 10 dau

  • I carnt thank you enough for sharing this video, have you discovered Trio Diamonds made by Trio Healthcare Inc in the States? they are odour sachets and also can reduce ballooning ! They are amazing .

  • @coffeelover8183 I have. I have been using them for a few weeks now and I agree, They are amazing. I also have been using there sting free medical adhesive remover and there sting free skin barrier. I am in love with there products. Since I have been using them my skin has been doing so much better. Before I started using there products my skin was red and irritated and now it looks normal and does not hurt!

  • As a man who is most likely to get an ostomy in the next month or two, I'm just blown away about how confident and secure you are with your ostomy. I'm freaked but figured the internet is the place to start. Thanks for your straight up and informative vids...I hope I can adjust and adapt as well as you clearly are1

  • @busterevie1 I am sorry to hear the news that you will most likely be getting an Ostomy in the next few months. That is generally news no one wants to hear. However if I had the decision to make over again I would not have changed a thing. Now having my Ostomy I feel better physically and mentally. I can now go out side and do activities that I once would never have considered an option. Long car ride are now manageable. if you have any questions don’t hesitate to send me a message.

  • I would like to thank you again and again for your videos-my mom just recently had to have an emergency colostomy. She is going home soon, and I was at a loss for what to do to help. I stumbled over your supply bag video and was immediately reassured. Your matter of fact attitude is reassuring and you have helped me realize that an ostomy isn't a major production, it's just a minor inconvenience. Thank you so much for your help. I will keep an eye out for more vids.

  • Looking forward to your comments about diet. Would you do a focus on gas output and maybe "burping" the bag?

  • Thanks for posting these videos!!

  • My dad has the flushable bags, for some reason he uses those during the day and jusst the regular bag at night and he washes it and then switches bags and puts a disposable one back in. And yeah, he rotates bags so that they are dry, I don't get it but that's what he does

  • Thanks so much for these videos. Keep it up!
