I think we are split on this issue. I know Phil has a twitter. Unless this is a bitter point in his life or he's under a gag--whatever. Anyone want to tweet him and ask him about this scene and post the answer here? Definitely one of the bigger mysteries of MadTV. I mean yes things like this make madTV what it is but the awkward silence really makes you stop and seriously consider if this could be real.
@m4rcus4ur31ius The comments here are go both ways and when I first watched this a few years ago I read comments on other sites and both opinions were expressed. Hehe, actors do talk about their earlier works but I guess PL likes to focus on the present with his tweets; I don't frequent actor twitters much.
@mjp9mm I think it's pretty obvious that Phil's actually breaking character. You could see the split moment of awkward silence when he stormed out of the set. Could it be that this was the reason why he left MadTV? Nevertheless, Debra and the other actor handled the problem brilliantly... Wow!

@JamaicanRain There's no mystery here. It was scripted exactly like that. Plus, why would he answer a tweet about a 10 year old sketch?

I hope this is part of Phil's act because breaking character means bad show business.
mjp9mm 2 years ago
Yes, of course it's part of it. That end is what made the whole skit.
