Both of my fingers come down at the same time but because the ring finger is a little lower it will get hit first, then a micro second later the middle finger comes down to hit the LP button. I hope that all makes sense and all three posts are one after another... I just woke up here dude.
Needed more space... so the game read, essentially, as two MP inputs. This is good because it basicly gives you one more frame to link combos in. You have MP on frame 1, then MP+LP on frame 2 (which the game reads as just MP as only one attack can come out at once) Go to training mode, turn on input display and try this for 10-15 mins. Remember you wanna see MP then LP+MP right under it. I hold my ring finger just above MP and my middle finger about a half inch higher on the LP button.
Dude I made this video over 2 years ago now. I barely knew any terminology, I didn't know what plinking was either. Here's how you do it though... Pick your attack, say a medium punch. As you're about to hit the medium punch press the light punch right after. I'm talking like 1/8 of a second after. Both fingers should be coming down at the same time. The game will show the input as MP then LP+MP. The reason this works is when two buttons are pressed together, the heavier attack comes out
Also, Shoryuken can be done (any punch I think) after a cr.forward (med kick) combo, BUT, that combo must be kept short (too much will push the opponent back).
Finally, the underlying reason why you can't chain the chainables (i.e. any jab or cr.short/lk) forever, is that they are set to "break the combo" after X-many hits. The opponent being pushed back is a side-effect.
FYI: "cancelling after 2nd + hit in a normal move chain is not possible." Not entirely true. I suppose the reasoning for the untruth of this statement is that crouching-to-standing "resets" the cancel-ability like jump-in attack leads and links in combos.
But even then, there's more to it. My BnB combo for Ryu is cr.jab(x2) xx DP. Possible to do Hadokens with cr.jab~s.jab variants, but input has to be faster than it is for other cancels (cancels are the fastest permissible links w/ leeway).
1st) cLP, cLP, SRK works because of 1 of 2 reasons. 1, you linked the second jab so you can now cancel into the SRK. 2, the SRK has a 3 frame start up and you are at +5 frames after a cLP and linked the SRK.
2nd) If you got cLP, cLP, Hadoken to work you linked the second jab and cancelled it into a Hadoken. This is a worthless combo, never ever do it.
It's easy to mistake cLP chains for cLP links as its a 3 frame start up move with a +5 advantage. Easy to do
@blitzkrieg861 You can't link the chain spams if you are precisely doing that. Spamming. Nobody but you ever said that you can't cancel in a chain after multiple hits, btw. Gonna have to test that theory to its ultimate in SF EX Series (where cancel combos in their current incarnation were first used out apparently).
And stop with this crouch nonsense. I told you three times now that I vary them with close-standing jabs (except for the cLP xx SRK combo).
Going from standing to crouching doesn't reset anything. Last reply for you. I've tried to be polite but when some uneducated punk comes in here and starts bad mouthing me I get a little upset. You know nothing and I guarentee that not only do I know more than you but having not played the game seriously in over 5 months that I'd still destroy you. Sit down. Watch the videos and absorb my ACCURATE information. Just be quiet now child.
@blitzkrieg861 Honestly dude, I was just getting a little snarky (male bitchiness) that I had to repeat myself about crouching. None of us were being rude though until now. I do know a lot about this game, all self-discovered. I only learned the lingo through youtube to speak to other SF players better. I did the research (always do) and discovered that SRK can be LINKED in a combo -- that's what I've been doing. Chainables will nearly always chain for technical AND semantic reasons bout combos.
@blitzkrieg861 Also, there was NO reason to get upset. If you think I bad mouthed you, I envy you for the pleasant life you have (this isn't it). I apologize if you think I have. I wrote a friendly message, and left another in an "SF academic-tone", and then got a little frustrated. Still, no one but you ever told me about the nature of these cancel combos. So kudos. ;)
However, I get really pissed when ppl speak like that. AND LOTS of non-pros can beat me, so nothin to brag about.
great vids btw, it took me ages to find a good video on links, now i finaly understand the concept of them i can get into practice and actualy do something constructive rather than spam and wonder why the hell the blockstring wasnt working
Mostly because I'm lazy I guess... P2 defaults to Ryu *shrugs* If I can ever get my cam working again I will likely make more of these tutorials (I'm missing Super/Ultra set ups) that and I can execute a hell of a lot better these days. I think if I do make more I'll redo this a little shorter and more direct. I'll end up taping then dubbing over top to make it look a little more professional.
Thanks for the video, this is great for a SF noob like me. One silly tip: why not use Ken as the punching dummy? That way you wouldn't have to say the phrase "the other Ryu".
Thanks for the comments guys. I've considered picking up the other vids I was going to do but also redoing these ones with a bit more of a script, more concise and to the point ya know?
Thanks for these tutorials, they're pretty awesome, the length is a bit too long though, try watching sirlin's tutorials, short and concise, a script would help
Yeah I know that. I blanketed block strings in with regular damaging link combos... I'm sure anyone with half a brain would not SRK when the string is already being blocked. Same thing more or less with the tatsu but I've had some interesting things happen after a blocked one.
thanks for the tutorial i m hiting ex cancels and everything. i look at the line on the life bar and the speed. high gives you 2 sec and med gives you 1 sec. When looking at the life its all about timing, but some time i screw up so i know where your coming from.
Oh, you probably should have mentioned that at the end of the block string you should do a move that's safe on block. Tatsu or SRK will be punished, so the only option here is the Hado.
You're absolutely right, it is a load of crap. You don't even see that scrolling light when they're blocking, anyway. And it moves so fast it's so hard to tell when to press it anyway.
Both of my fingers come down at the same time but because the ring finger is a little lower it will get hit first, then a micro second later the middle finger comes down to hit the LP button. I hope that all makes sense and all three posts are one after another... I just woke up here dude.

Learning to do combos with one button press per attack is all well and good but personally I find I hit links more reliably double tapping.
Very informative video, but it takes a looong time to actually get to block strings. Maybe the other video should just be a combo tutorial.
Also it sounds like you said the game runs 16 fps, but I might be hearing things. I'm sure you meant 60.
