  • thats tyrone edgar not mark lewis francis

  • And the white guy lost.

  • @randomperson331 wut dus that mean

  • @TheBaseballrocks23 it means im shaking my head at your ignorant ass for bringing up stupid shit that has no relevance whatsoever

  • Hahahha his lane tag sticker is upside down

  • what is MR?

  • @Floey22 Meet record

  • @swagteam31 Thank you :)

  • @Floey22 Not a problem.

  • best form ever

  • Asafa had a disgustingly good start.

  • Imagine if Asafa Powell played rugby or NFL when he was younger. He is 6'3 and packed with muscles. Whether he has the ball skills, probably not, but what raw pace and power.

  • @187prettyboy its not raw. he has worked for that pace and power his entire life. sprinting of that magnitude is not possible with raw talent. NO ONE and i mean NO ONE has made times like asafa with pure raw talent.

  • @iiamins Sprinters are born, sure they have to train to maximise it. But there are just some people who will train all their life and will never EVER run 10 seconds. Its in your genes, you are either born a sprinter, or you are not. The training is important and forms part of it, by most part of it is in your genes, thats what i mean by natural.

  • Maannnn Asafa Powell is SOOOO TRASSHHHH!!!! Okay he'll run a good time at a Little League Meet! but he Chokes at EVERYYY big time meet he goes 2!!! He's terrible under pressure!! If he wants to be put in the same conversation as Usain Bolt and Tyson Gay he's going to have to prove that he deserves it in a high profile meet!! There's younger up and coming guys like Walter Dix who produce when the spot lights on them and thats why they are talked about like they are!!

  • @liljay93 if he is trash, what are you dickhead? he has an olympic gold medal, and 4 world championship medals. Walter dix only has 2medals. Powell has roasted him everytime bar 1 race. did he choke in berlin last year...no, he was injured and did he best he could for bronze. asshole. he was the only man to beat usain bolt over 100m before this year. dont talk when you have no idea what your saying.

  • @liljay93 And you have the right to say that why? Has walter Dix ever held the world record for the 100 m? Oh yeah he hasnt.

  • asafa jogging at 0:18 - 0:22

  • Isn't that Tyrone not Mark LF!?

  • @fightjunge24 ok, my bad.

  • This has to be one of the nicest looking runs I have ever seen from Powell. Shame he had a wet track and a slight headwind. Had the conditions favoured him, he could have pushed into the 9.60's with this!

  • he is a MACHINE. read any sprinting textbook and his technique will better it. 2010 was his to own, pity about the injury, really hope the his next winter is injury free.

  • His start is amazing!!

  • swedenCZ, take down, remove the Mark Lewis Francis text at 0:14 because

    1) It is not Mark Lewis Francis, it is Tyrone Edgar

    2) Tyrone Edgar always has fast reaction times

    3) If it was a false start they would be stopped immediately as the electronic blocks would pick it up.

  • they should do the 40 yard split not 100 yard split. ore people would be interested lol

  • This Guy is the only one who runs thats fast with a swag it realy hard to look cool when you run

  • asafa 4eveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer he is the best.even bolt can pass him now..

  • Honestly, too me this is one of the best 100m run in history by anyone.

Into a headwind in the wet at the beginning of the season.

    FLAWLESS

  • @Reformed2005 totally agree. This race is the perfect display of technique by asafa. The way he comes up so slowly out of the drive phase is magnificent to watch.

  • @speedyslime93 Indeed, as you say technically brilliant.

Bolt and Gay may be better competitors and have faster times but Powells 100m technique is unmatched IMO.

If only he had Bolts mental game to go with it.

  • @Reformed2005 Powell = 50m King when he's on his game (I'm thinking his 9.72, 9.83 in rain and headwind in Brussels v Bolt, Beijing 4x1 anchor and this very video in ostrava)

Shame he's not got the immense speed endurance of Bolt or Gay who are able to put distance between themselves and Powell in the last 30.

Do you know if Gay is running at all after Zagreb on Wednesday? I hope he is, he's in his best shape yet. (obvs Bolt and Powell have finished their seasons)

  • @speedyslime93 Don't forget his 9.74WR, but yeah I agree that those are his best performances.

Not sure, I think that is Gays last race of the season although he's obviously itching to set a new PR so hopefully he adds another meet if he doesn't PR there

  • Imagine if he ran like this against Bolt and Gay... so frustrating

  • @alexp3200 I'm talking about the national record of 200 meters, not 100.. :)

  • It seems that Asafa has been doing hard to re-catch up his old results and Usain's process. He is a good man and I never look him down.

  • @phastman99 . I know it's very premature to say that Tyson can break the national record rigth now, but this season it does not take away the ability to do eventually.

  • @phastman99 Well, the things in 200 meters are very different and more unpredictable than the 100. Who would have thought that Johnson was going to break the record of 200 by a margin of 34 hundredths of seconds if he had not even able to run below 19.60 before that? but of course, he needed more than preparation and effort, he needed a great moment, a great inspirational moment and the result was that we saw in that grand final.

  • @phastman99 by the way, his 44.89 make him the first athlete to run under 45 secs in the 400m, 20 secs. at 200m and 10 secs. in the 100m.

  • @phastman99 ok, but Tyson, has or does not have the potential to break the national record?? --I say of course.. you think so?

  • @torrepr its obvious english isnt ur first language lol

  • @TrickSports Ran 100yd/220yd 1972

  • @TrickSports Non split track, $2 plus million dollar track, excellent drainage, the rain i believe increases the humidity which is a small speed asset.

The 9.83 converts to 9.81 for wind/altitude which is his 3rd best race ever!!!

    9.72 0.2m/s 2008 Lausanne (converts to 9.74

    9.78 0.0m/s 2007 Rieti (converts to 9.79

    9.83 -0.5m/s 2010 Ostrava (converts to 9.81

    9.77 0.9m/s 2008 Rieti (converts to 9.82

    9.77 0.9m/s 2006 Zurich (converts to 9.83

    9.74 1.7m/s 2007 Rieti (= 9.83

  • Dexter Lee...

  • @TrickSports Powell wasn't quiet right last year, i think these two are neck and neck.

Now is Powell ready for the task that's the question.

  • @TrickSports Powell works 400m in practice at times he runs 200m in meets also. Saying working on endurance to maintain speed sounds good and it can't hurt but top-end speed is the hardest to improve and most natural. Basically you either have it or you don't.

  • @phastman99 Gay's 9.69 +2.0m/s wind converts to 9.78, there best converted times are very close. If Asafa hears foot steps then Gay wins.

  • Jamaicans are fast but Powell will never beat Bolt.PERIOD...

  • @swisskidd02 lol......asafa is beter than bolt and he will prove it

  • @phastman99 Well, maybe not this season, but in any major championship, In the same way he did in Berlin for the 100 meters with his spectacular 9.71, he also could do it in a grand final of the 200m why not? Tyson has two marks(19.62, 19.58) below of the second personal best of Michael (19.66) he only has to work harder in the second half of the race and for sure grabs the fastest national..

  • @phastman99 Tyson can run at 19.50 and also below.. i have always believed that Tyson has the potential of breaking Johnson's personal best in 200m

P.S.Usain Bolt will not run the 100m against Tyson in NY so we'll have to wait, noooooo!!! LOL

  • @torrepr yeah tyson can break 19.32 no doubt

  • Guys, powell was supposed to go below 9.7 in rieti 2007 when he ran 9.74. He just stopped running because it was a qualifying heat and had 10 meters to go. If he would"ve gone all the way, he probably would"ve got like a 9.64, plus he got out like a cannon in that race, so obviously powell has the potencial to beat gay, the reason why gay beats him more its beacuse powell needs to work on his mental strenght thats all

  • @JAVLIGHTNING youre talkin out of your ass,he was supposed to run 9.68-71in rieti, not 9.64!!

  • @puljacina do you really think asafa couldnt shave off 10 tenths of a second if he hadnt slowed down the last 10m?

  • @phastman99 Tyson has more possibilities because the little he has raced in 100 meters (compared to Powell) has gone further. I will not say he can not break Tyson's 9.69 but that is something thatis going to cost a lot of work to do and he is in very good shape (which is very important, of course) but Tyson can also break the record so that hopefully they can face several times during the season and delight us with their performances..

  • @TrickSports Powell beat Tyson in the first 20 meters in Berlin, but what happened in the remaining 80 meters? Powell had a best start with a reaction time of 0134 vs 0144 by Tyson. Powell lost most of the race practically against Tyson, despite the loss he had a good time with 9.84 (which could have been even faster if it had not slowed in the final meters). But Tyson proved to be faster.

  • @TrickSports Asafa Powell has a consistent speed much better than Greene, Even Tyson, but Tyson has been able to run faster at 50-70 (full speed) that's all.

  • @TrickSports you are wrong, Mo Greene has reached even faster than Powell, but Powell has a better performance than Greene, consistency in speed and so he has been better than Greene

  • @TrickSports In Lausanne and in Reity Powell achieved his best 60 meters from his career as a sprinter thanks to his excellent acceleration but even in those two races he has not been able to break the 44 mph speed-limit because he could not handle the segment of 40-70 meters as Tyson has been able to do, period.

  • @TrickSports I have the analysis of almost all those races.

I have seen the development of both sprinters in the analysis of 10 meters by 10 meters and Powell has been better in the first 40 and 50 meters of the races, but beyond that distance Tyson [active the V-TECH] as i said, and continues to accelerate much better than Powell and is capable of achieving faster than Powell, to 50-70 meters.

  • @TrickSports

-the maintenance phase is after 70 meters, Powell had a best start thanTyson in Berlin and Shanghai, but Tyson caught him after 45 meters.

--this is a matter of who has more top-speed (no endurence) which Tyson is obviously much better, of course.

  • @TrickSports

-Powell has run over 60 races under 10 seconds and in none of those races he could not run more than 44 kilometers per hour at 60-70 meters(

segment where they reach their maximum speed).

-Daniel Bailey has a better out of the blocks than Powell.

-the only injuries to Powell was in the early season that affect the race in NY, beyond that he ran very well.

-Why Tyson Gay was the favorite to defeat Bolt and NOT Powell?

  • @phastman99 I do not think Powell could exceed 44 kphspeed-limit because he already has more than 60 races under 10 seconds and he never has been achieved and the maximum speed is reached at 60 meters, but beyond that to who you choose as best sprinter for the 100 meters , Gay or Powell?? sincerely??

  • @TrickSports Tyson Gay in Berlin had reached Powell just before the 60 meters as in Shanghai, and you do not come to me saying that Powell continued with a mental block because he did not seem to be that way, otherwise, Powell knew he had nothing to lose in Berlin, if he was not the candidate to beat Bolt, but Tyson.

  • @TrickSports I disagree with you my friend, for a long time (about 2006) the same commentators were saying that, Tyson has the best in top-end-speed in the business (before Bolt, of course) Asafa Powell has never been able to overcome the barrier of 44 kph on his sixty-odd race he has run under 10 seconds. Something that Tyson has already done more than once.

  • @torrepr TrickSports is right on the money, Powell has never had a top end like Gay.

  • @bayhollywood In Berlin and Shanghai Tyson managed to break the 44 KPH speed-limit, something that Powell never been achieved in any of his sixty-odd runs below 10 seconds Why? because the style of both sprinters is totally different in their development. Asafa Powell is an excellent accelerator and has an exceptional ability to maintain speed but has no top-speed unlike Tyson.

  • @bayhollywood in the segment of 50-70 meters (full speed) Tyson Gay has run dramatically faster than in any of the races that Powell could have run.

  • @TrickSports The wet track means nothing it's a mondo track, his time converts to 9.81 and i think he beats Bolt if they run in New York. Not that he's better but Usain has been training mostly for the 300m record and he looks a little raged early in his 100m which means Asafa and Tyson won't race Bolt in New York.

  • @bayhollywood i heard bolt withdraw his start from the new york meet

  • @puljacina On a post sprint predictions 2010 one guy thought Bolt would run 19.00

i was badgered for predicting 19.39. T&F is not a straight line up.

  • dexter lee is pretty fast lol

  • @phastman99 I dare to say that the top-speed of Tyson, is better than the acceleration of Powell.. wat you think??

  • @phastman99 That's exactly what we saw in Berlin, Thessaloniki and Shanghai...

  • @phastman99 Powell loses more ground in the last 50 meters than Tyson on his first 50, for that reason is that Tyson makes it easier to win the race, despite his mediocre acceleration, his top-speed helps him to make up the race, contrary to Powell...

  • @phastman99 agree with you about both sprinters have the potential to run at least under 9.66 but, what makes you think that Tyson would win the most showsdowns against Powell??

  • I'm fascinated by these games and rivalries with these athletes as competitive in athletics: in the 100m. Powell, Gay and Bolt are three supermen that make the scene more exciting for London. On the women side of Fraser, Stewart and Jeter in the 100m and 200m in the eternal rivalry between Felix and Campbell. I look forward to the World Championships and from there London is just around the corner.

  • @phastman99 Last year was a year in which Tyson was able to show an unlimited number of times he is faster than Powell, therefore I could say that it is better, am I right?

  • @phastman99 well, I would say that everything you said is possible, why not? but back to the original question, I would summarize the matter this way, Powell is better in acceleration (at least is more consistent), but Tyson is better at the top-speed, meaning that while Tyson made a good start there will be many more guarantees to win the race for him.

  • @phastman99 Who you think is better in the 100m, Powell or Tyson?

  • Gwan Asafa..Still ma boi in spite of things. A Jamaica wi seh all di way....BOLT, POWELL...everything set man.

Much respect to the athletes from do odda contries..keep running.

  • Can you please post the women's 100m w/Shelly Ann Fraser.. i can't seem to find it anywhere.

  • is it me or Safa looking more ripped but bigger up top..? This season is shaping up nicely, can't wait for Tyson to drop a 100 now...:-)

  • @KavalierII i think he looks bigger for sure...upper and lower body.

  • @KavalierII is really asafa powell injured now???

  • @albadrosssssssssssss To be honest, I don't really know what's happening to Safa...could be injured but I personally think he's psychologically between by Tyson and Usain everytime he gets on a track, he has the ability to run a silly time but his heads not right anymore...

  • @rcaddict72,the "72" must be your low IQ,.right??

  • @puljacina ,...actually im a mensa member. so that puts my iq above 138. the true story is that what i say appears stupid to you because you dont understand. in an effort to appear credible, you attack others. im not the only one you abuse, so again its you versus the rest of us.

  • rcaddict72=TYPICAL CLUELESS DUMB PIECE OF SHIT!! go away moron,go away...

  • lol look the white guy in lane8. he jus up and running like the women..hold ur head down for the first 40yards damn. no wonder they cant break under 10sec as yet

  • asafa really got out of the blocks like a bullet in this race!!!! he also had a great, intense 45 to 50m drive phase, and his closing speed looked elegant aswell!!!!! 9.83 is a great time considering the -0.5m/s and rainy, cold weather

    Asafa is back!!!!!!!!

  • Nobody is ducking anybody..Meet directors dont want them to meet till top form. If you knew pro track youd know runners dont even pick their meets. Thats the agents job. Douchebag!!!

  • rcaddict72=TYPICAL CLUELESS YT-MORON!! lol

  • @puljacina youre hilarious puljacina..you fight everyone on YT. i only fight with you because you are an imbecile. its you versus everyone else, but you probably wouldnt notice because your face is so far up Tyson Gays butt.

  • i just noticed that asafa has had a torn right pec.

  • @TrickSports I hope not, he stated he will face bolt three times this season and Bolt himself said that this year is the best chance his competitors have of beating him. Tyson's hungry, but he can't keep talking big to the media without backing it up at some point.

  • @Reformed2005 they(the big 3) will definately run in brussels in late august but thats it.. tyson is my hero but i think the is ducking bolt in the 200m,but maybe im wrong

  • @puljacina It's hard to believe the last time they clashed in 200 was 2007 WC, and we probably won't see it again until next year.

  • @Reformed2005 This business is based on budget and the federations can not afford sprinters like Bolt /Gay at the same event because they cost a lot of money especially in low season...

  • @puljacina if you nut hugged tyson any closer you wouldnt be able to tell where his body ends and yours begins...its clouding everything you say and makes you look like a tool.

  • @Reformed2005 ..he cant afford to compete on the circuit too much as he risks getting busted for the drugs he does each year to blow out the amazing times on US soil..so needs to get the timing of his cycles and form just right.

  • @rcaddict72 who the hell you mean??

  • @torrepr ..tyson gay..

  • @rcaddict72 yes??? and what's your argument??? because the fact that Tyson is competing in the same events that Bolt and Powell are not mean anything about you said but is a matter of budget.. gather the three sprinters in the same event is so expensive especially in low season !!! so I hope you have a better argument next time...

  • @torrepr forget it, the australian moron called rcaddict72 is just talkin out of his ass!! hes simply CLUELESS and STUPID. i still remember when he said that the ONLY clean us athlete was michael johnson, and all others(mo greene, marsh, wariner etc.) are/were drug cheats. hes the definition of the typical dumb clueless idiot

  • @puljacina ..why do you have to resort to calling out what country im from?- are you trying to insult my nationality?...if you are, its lame, and irrelevant. again you make BS claims in your posts- "i still remember....blah blah"... and yet i ask you again to cite the source..send us all the links..i can assure you ive never accused wariner nor marsh...ever. so again your cred is pathetic. you can only win an argument with fact, or qualify with opinion. in this case youve just plain lied.

  • @puljacina maybe you're right...

  • @TrickSports another thing, i do not see Powell slowing down in the last 15 meters as you said, but as for you he always slowing down of course it's another excuse..

  • @torrepr ..tricksports was referring to the heats. he definitely shut it down and still ran 9.88.

  • @TrickSports always the same excuse of "the rain", "the wet track" and the slight headwind (which is legal of course) blablabla.. BUT let me remind you that Daniel Bailey do not worry about the rain in Paris(2009) to make a personal best of 9.91, while he [Daniel Beiley] could not overcome his personal best in [the great final at Berlin] and crossed the line in 9.93, please...

  • i noticed asafa was 1st off the blocks...and led all the way..nice

  • wow he's in great shape

  • 1 POWELL, Asafa JAM WL,MR 9.83 0.132

    2 CLARKE, Lerone JAM 10.18 0.170

    7 FORSYTHE, Mario JAM 10.43 0.215

    LEWIS-FRANCIS, Mark GBR DQ R 162.7

  • lethal start!

  • 0.31 when the girl runs to give him the flowers LOL

  • powells technique looks superior to all the other sprinters in that line up is looks as if his gliding along the ground effortless

  • if he had a start like Ben Johnson's, he could break the 9.70 barrier. He ran 9.88 in the heat and came back one hour later to run 9.83 in such horrible weather. wow what a guy. don't think that he is the underdog because he can very well beat Tyson gay this season. Asafa Powell is the KING of circuit meetings and a HUMBLE person too I must say.

  • @dixington agree with everything you say, except the first 8 words haha. Of course powell can go sub 9.7, but Ben Johnsons start wasn't any better than Powell's today. Powell has the best start in the world, along with Richard Thompson, Usain Bolt and Mike Rodgers. Look at Powell's RT here in Ostrava - 0.132, fastest in the field, you very rarely get one faster than that.

  • Asafa improved his stride rate good run ! ..and Look out for Dexter Lee 10.20 PB in these conditions ? cold ..wet track ...and head wind..and a horrible start ...I see 10.10 atleast by end of the season if he stays healthy !

  • POWELL!! Jamaica Jamaica!

  • asafa making use of his stride, reminds me of the 4x100m anchor leg of the olympics,,

    hope he keeps it up.

  • @tugyout I see what you mean

  • the boss is back 9.83

  • Powell has impressed me the most this year out of the big three sprinters. He looks like he's been working hard on several things. If he stays confident and in this form he'll hopefully surpass Gays 9.69. Afaster Asafa indeed.

  • Without the pressure of no major championships on the calender this year, expect great performances from the big three. Enjoy the shows everyone!

  • @beebeechitown from 9.83 to 9.84 in Berlin there is no significant difference...

I would have enjoyed even more if Tyson had been on the track..

  • Kudos to white man Pickering, still battling genetics like a trooper!

  • @BandWagon1987 HAHAHAHAH! but ya boy lemaitre is gonna break that barrier soon bruh.

  • i told you guys to watch out for asafa this year because the injury he had last year is better...loll..,.i still think he's gonna come second to bolt gay wont beat him this time.

  • First time in a long time Powell's start looked decent. Hopefully that means he is finally healthy. He didn't seem to be all over the track coming out of the blocks like in Doha, and all of last year. He ran hard all the way through, and posted a great time, early in the season, in 60 degree weather, into -.5 m/s wind, and on a wet track. Fairly impressive. I can't wait to see him, Gay, and Bolt tangle.

  • Where is the womens 100m? Why only the mens?

  • asafa, u quiet me with this run, great race and form

  • @TrickSports Asafa's time from 100yd to 100m was 0.76 seconds that's 11.26m/s or last 10 meters in 0.89 nothing special over last 10m. Bolt's 9.58 he ran his last 10m in 0.83 i was hoping that Asafa's last 10m would be 0.85-0.86.

  • gettn back on track good time in the fecked up weather

  • While I can't say whether or not he has made any improvement mentally, I can see that he has made some improvements to his race. His stride length seems to be longer and at least in this race he runs straight through the line (something that he doesn't normall do). If he keeps it up he should provide even more serious competition in the 100m.

  • great run asafa, i like what i see

plz do that run at adidas gran prix new york...thx luv u

  • @DD123418 he is not going to new york, he is going to rome. gay and bolt are going to race at new york adidas invitational.

  • @ANZO89 are you sure tyson is confirmed for the ny meet??!!!

  • @puljacina a hundred percent sure.

  • @ANZO89 i know that bolt will run in ny but i cant find the info on the iaaf site or on tysons homepage!! where did you get the information from??

  • @puljacina I don't think Tyson has announced his appearance in NY yet but it is assumed because Adidas is his sponsor and it's in the US.

  • @Reformed2005 im not sure if he wants to run against bolt in his 100m season opener lol it would be great but i doubt it. it would be nice if he runs in oslo next week, powell is already confirmed for oslo

  • @puljacina i saw it in a web page but i dont remeber in which one did i see it. it was in one that refered about asafa´s 9.75 in doha last week and at the end of the article said all the places were bolt, gay and powell will run this year.

the strange thing is that i have just entered in the adidas gran prix page and they dont say anything about gay. but at the same time they have gay´s foto there, its strange.

  • @DD123418 I don't think he's competing in New York. I hope he is, but I stand to be corrected?

  • It's hard to believe that the world record run would double the gap that powell just made.

Those other guys must've been running 11's. lol

  • this is the powell we wanna see,the "lighter" version

  • He can not beat Usain, because Usain has an advantage in his body. I mean, Asafa can beat him onetime, not everytime and no WR. But how you say, his run was very nice in these conditions.

  • @swedenCZ Usain only has two inches over Powell. That's not much of a difference. Asafa is 6'3".He also has the advantage of being a tall sprinter. It's possible he could beat Bolt, in the 100m. But as you mentioned, not every time, but certainly often.

  • @swedenCZ That makes no sense. If that's the case, then every tall person should be faster than every short person. Just because he has a physical advantage doesn't mean that that's the only factor in sprinting speed. Powell could get stronger; improve his stride, eccentric strength, form... there are so many factors that could make him faster. Obviously, he's done something different and it's paid off. A 9.83 into a rainy 0.5 headwind very early on in the season.. who knows what he'll do..

  • @swedenCZ can you post Shelly Ann Fraser's race, thanks.

  • @KamRooks Type this in the search field..

    Ostrava 2010 w100

  • @yardieindubai thanks yardiedub...

  • His technique looks so good. As he was when he was just challenging Greene.

  • esta genial esta demostracion de potencia a lo bestia

  • BUT i wouldnt be surprised if chokes again when hes in the same race with bolt and gay

  • all i can say is WATCH OUT BOLT!!!!!!!!!

  • Great race by Mr.Powell, I must say I was impress with his early season exploits so far…among the big 3 I think he has been the most impressive, as a matter of fact I’m impressed by all 3… I can imagine it only gets better from here ..waiting patiently for the big CLASHES that we were promised in the latter season, I really do hope that all these materialize and no dodging among the TOP MEN of this stupendous sport. GET DEM GET DEM!!

  • thx for posting it!! could you put the semifinal heat he ran in 9.88?

  • @ANZO89 My answer is in the Robles video (I dont have semifinal, i didnt watch it)

  • @swedenCZ is that cause there were no semi finals cause there was 2 heats
