The Last Question

I remember reading this when I was a kid.

Thinking back on it now, I can't shake the freaky impression that Asimov subtly suggested in The Last Question that physical existence is like an extended phenotype.

@ anthonyk312..entropy , first of all is a theory..how do we know that as systems seem to be disintegrating, they are not actually integrating into a more complex and infinite system?...perhaps we evolved to this life thru entropy, and now we de-evolve back to the original all pervasive stratum....the unified field....which is in fact the beginning and the end...and all that ever REALLY was!!!....:)...thanks for the thoughtful comment..nice to know some people out there are actually thinking....

I enjoyed this video greatly! In my humble oppinion, goes to show that intriguing, stories such as Asimov's, can be thought provoking without resorting to bombs, violence, explosions,etc. just the right amount of audio and video built around a solidly entertaining story can make it profound. In fact, if it were done right, this story could be made into a great sci-fi film!

well, energy is not consumed, it is converted..lol thus this multivac ended up containing all of the energy of the universe... let there be light was an easy task..lol inner core meltdown, with no failsafe... buddha, bodi, bang... great concept..thanks mr asimov... you kept em busy reading for about 5 years... librarian hated me:D imported books from every library in the state... Good job on this short video.. wish they could make movies about foundation..harder than DUNE was, I guess
