@Martaaan09 hopefully scotland will beat england! haha i watched england v wales live in cardiff the other week and although im 'technically' english cos i live here i was supporting the welsh :)
I liked the movie but if it comes down to true facts it pretty shit, this doesnt really show what Mandela was like before he went to jail, ever wonder WHY he went to jail.. so dont call white south africans racists.
@StarCraftHDx He was engaged in violent protest, but directed mainly against state targets such as power stations, and police headquarters, and that was only after the ANC had exhausted all non-violent protest methods, like nation wide strikes. This film may not have all the facts, but niether do you by the looks of it. How Mandela managed to prevent South Africa from descending into civil war between Afrikaaners, hard line ANC and the PAC, with other elements thrown in is still beyond me! Hero
A deadly virus burned through our civilisation (still is in some countries) pushing the human kind to a brutal and a cruel form. Nelson Mandela dedicated his life to the discovery of a cure and the restoration of humanity and that is to let go of any grudges held against anyone and restore love and care for each other. This man conquered every obstacle that was in the way, made the impossible possible.
I was at local gas station in South Africa yesterday, and I saw an African man wearing a Springbok jersey - and it made me think of this movie, and the real story, and how far South Africa has come. Not just a world in union, but a great nation in union too.
COMRAD MENDELA I WAS FIGHTING FOR SA I WENT TO SA CONSULT I WAS CRYING SA IS BEAUTIFUL BUT WHY IS IT UNGLY PLS FREE NELSON MEDELA I BOYCOTTED ALL SA GOODS UNTIL U WERE FREED WELCOME BACK INTO THE BRITISH COMMONWEALTH.

Mr Eastwood, this was a great movie, really good.
an absolute masterpeice. Hollywood actually made an African movie which truely captured the good and bad spirit of Africa but left you feeling happy for all South Africans. Great job Mr. Eastman
@andrewsurtees uh, it was a tune by Holst, to which Holst set a poem that had been deliberatly changed to be non-nationalistic but yes, patriotic about all of the fallen in the first war. If you find any inference ot specifically British nationalism it's one line in the second verse - the one that is never ever sung (most people thnk 2nd is "and there's another country" etc but thats the 3rd).
This setting is about moving on from history; it;s a good anthemic tune. there is no irony in that..
@andrewsurtees : maybe the tune was originally used by nefarious peopl with nefarious ideas.. but ca u dent that the tune s great?:) as are the lyrics...?:)
@andrewsurtees :@andrewsurtees : maybe the tune was originally used by nefarious peopl with nefarious ideas.. but ca u dent that the tune s great?:) as are the lyrics...?:)
@rnb8588 "Her sword is girded at her side, her helmet on her head,
And round her feet are lying the dying and the dead.
I hear the noise of battle, the thunder of her guns,
I haste to thee my mother, a son among thy sons."
You can rehabilitate a song to a certain extent, but "Deutschland uber alles" isn't going to become the Israeli anthem any time soon, and this is just as bizarre.
But yes, as everyone's said, the tune is great. That's not what i'm questioning.
@andrewsurtees lol fail, you're wrong both songs were derived from The Planets, Op. 32: IV. Jupiter, The Bringer of Jollity. world in union is slightly different but has the same tune , vow to thee my country has words to the same music. love all of them though
@hanros98 Yes they're both derived from Holst, and again, good tune, and well done Holst.. "Lol fail" is a bit strong though. This song has enormous inherited connotations, and they're all related to British Imperialism. My point was that August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben also wrote an excellent tune, that has since become tainted. I'd argue that Holst's work has in this case done the same.

Did PJ Powers actually play in this movie singing it or was it an actress lip-synching? I saw Invictus on TV Shack and could not tell cuz of the pixels.
I hate the way they portray the Boks as no hopers coming from literally nowhere to win the WC, the Boks have over a hundred years of dominance, and the 95 squad was loaded with legends. Os, Joost, Joubert, Andrews, Small, Kruger et al were truly outstanding players. Just wanted to get that out there.
I honestly had never taken the time to completely understand the game of Rugby until watching this movie... I am not a fan of "football / soccer" as Americans are more physical... But Rugby is definately a really cool sport! Without determination, physical strength, mental strength and support... you will never succeed. It is a great TEAM sport!
The power of rugby always wins... as an Englishman, every one wants to do us over, and to beat the Wallabies of the Welsh is always a great moment. Enemies on the pitch, but always mates you can have a beer with after the game. It's a game at the end of the day, and for 80 minutes it's about passion. After that's it's about brotherhood, and respect that you whatever colour shirt or skin you have, you got on the pitch and had a go.
Totally remember how it felt when the Springboks came out of nowhere...un-effen-believable...my gosh I miss the World Cup, effen-aye I miss this song!!! LOL!

@ChomFa That is so true, however he did manage to do an amazing job compared to what is going on today. maybe we could get an "terrorist" like him to fix the USA, I would be happy. Sometimes we need to put peoples past behind them and let God deal with it and love more.....and yes todays South Africa is not a pretty place as Racism is still strong just towards the whites or coloureds left...but he did show us the possibility of a great nation!!!!!

I wish the situation in South Africa was as harmonious as in 1995, when they won the World Cup. This movie portrays the joy off all the different races back then brilliantly.
If you see a black person in the middle of the road go over him otherwise the dead will be you...that was the first advice they gave us when we visit South Africa almost 40 years ago; I am so happy to see a great country that I love so much living in peace in multirracial harmony.. Great Song and great Movie...wishing all the beautiful people of South Africa the best luck in the upcoming soccer world cup.

@gampisfc Please remember it is BASED on a true story, if u ask most white people living in south african for 10 years before and after this happend they will tell u it was very differnt. The dates and everything. He wasnt even in power long before the world cup, only about 1 year. But dont get me wrong what he did was great.

New Zealand Vs. France
Wales Vs. South Africa
England Vs. Scotland (Always a good game if you ask me)
Australia Vs. Ireland

I vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above,
Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love;

The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.

@gampisfc Please remember it is BASED on a true story, if u ask most white people living in south african for 10 years before and after this happend they will tell u it was very differnt. The dates and everything. He wasnt even in power long before the world cup, only about 1 year. But dont get me wrong what he did was great.

Not that they don't. Otherwise they wouldn't make Piennar looked like he was trying to miss tackles after tackles in the movie.
A bit they cocked up big time.

Jupiterに似ているんじゃなくて元は惑星って曲にあとから歌詞をつけたんだよ。
それに順番でいったらこっちのほうが先。
World in Unionはラグビーワールドカップのメインテーマとして20年以上前から使っている
