  • INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL.Thank you so much for sharing.

  • Now, if we could just recapture those hopeful days.....

  • This song gives goose bumps! Proudly South African!!! Bokke for life <3 SSuch a beautiful song!!!!

  • "If I win, lose or draw, it's a victory for all".

How many sports team theme songs show this sentiment? Such an important line. Sport unites. It can be universal. Let's use this song's message!

  • Truly an inspirational story behind this movie rests...:o)

  • Goose bumped !

  • ALL BLACKS!!!!!!!!!!

  • GO BOKKE! :D

  • Come on Wales! You're an iconic international rugby side, You'll need to get it one day! This is your time.

    Come on Cymru!

    Cymru am Byth!

  • @EmsionProductions you fairly slaughtered us today anyways ya feckers, haha :P Wales better go on to win the tournament!! :)

  • Go All Blacks!!!!!

  • I just smiled broadly at 0:01. I couldn't help it!! I loved this movie and its songs. It reminds me of the time I went to South Africa, they sing and dance beautifully with grace and emotion. I remember them often as it is, but this brought back some more memories #^.^#

  • i hated this song till i heard the african version in 1995

  • Love football. Love hockey. Love rugby. Love great music. And be happy

  • BOKKE!

  • I listened to this first, and I fell in love with it, now after Hayley Westenra sang it, this sounds soo less-powerful and not hair-raising anymore at all, that's something really.... /watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=EO4-YpEsqnQ#t=101s 2011 World in UNION song!!!

  • @Simbaleo22

This version destroys the new one imo. I heard the new one first and wasnt impressed...this one gives me goosebumps. but the 1995 version still KILLS ALL

  • ha seem to leave the fact out key All Blacks had food poisoning and were throwing up on the side lines, Funny that. How ever this one was the only one I didn't mind losing too much.

  • God i hope they use this song to introduce every game again.

  • The best matches I feel will be:

    New Zealand Vs. France

    Wales Vs. South Africa

England Vs. Scotland (Always a good game if you ask me)

    Australia Vs. Ireland

I'm not mentioning any quarter finals games as I don't want to be biased on who will get through, Wales *cough* *cough*

Good luck to all the teams participating :)

  • @Martaaan09 hopefully scotland will beat england! haha i watched england v wales live in cardiff the other week and although im 'technically' english cos i live here i was supporting the welsh :)

  • @thomsocaca As long as we beat the english :P

  • @Martaaan09 australia an ireland was an exciting game! and i do agree n.z vs France will prove as entertaining also cant wait!

  • It will be England or one of the SANZAR countries that win the 2011 World Cup. England v NZ final would be great :D

  • @mrcalarsenal nah h8 to burst ur bubble but wales deserve this but sadly the final will go to australia

    Gr8 team c'mon reds!!!!!!!!!

  • wales to win world cup!!!!

  • @HarpoonTorpedo HA the bokka will take it again

  • I liked the movie but if it comes down to true facts it pretty shit, this doesnt really show what Mandela was like before he went to jail, ever wonder WHY he went to jail.. so dont call white south africans racists.

  • @StarCraftHDx He was engaged in violent protest, but directed mainly against state targets such as power stations, and police headquarters, and that was only after the ANC had exhausted all non-violent protest methods, like nation wide strikes. This film may not have all the facts, but niether do you by the looks of it. How Mandela managed to prevent South Africa from descending into civil war between Afrikaaners, hard line ANC and the PAC, with other elements thrown in is still beyond me! Hero

  • 映画を見終わったあと、思わず感動のため涙がでてきました。英語の歌詞もすぐ理解できました。いまだ民族紛争をしている国、人権が確立していない国の指導者に、ぜひ聴いてほしい曲です。

  • VIVA South Africa.... we can we will.

  • Beautiful, powerful song (:

  • A deadly virus burned through our civilisation (still is in some countries) pushing the human kind to a brutal and a cruel form. Nelson Mandela dedicated his life to the discovery of a cure and the restoration of humanity and that is to let go of any grudges held against anyone and restore love and care for each other. This man conquered every obstacle that was in the way, made the impossible possible.

    We are his legacy...

    This is his legend.

  • Dude... i'm not crying....i just got something in my eye :) Great Song

  • Awesome song and best suited for all rugby world cups I think!

  • I was at local gas station in South Africa yesterday, and I saw an African man wearing a Springbok jersey - and it made me think of this movie, and the real story, and how far South Africa has come. Not just a world in union, but a great nation in union too.

  • COMRAD MENDELA I WAS FIGHTING FOR SA I WENT TO SA CONSULT I WAS CRYING SA IS BEAUTIFUL BUT WHY IS IT UNGLY PLS FREE NELSON MEDELA I BOYCOTTED ALL SA GOODS UNTIL U WERE FREED WELCOME BACK INTO THE BRITISH COMMONWEALTH.

  • there needs to be a trance version

  • This song brought tears in eyes! I do really love this song!!! This is such a master piece!!!

rugby is a hooligan's game, played by gentlemen

  • Played this at my Granddads Funeral, He was one of the best people I ever had the pleasure to know, Brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it.

    I love you Granddad <3

  • Gustav Holst: Jupiter

  • I am the master of my fate

    The captain of my soul

    <3

  • @lolita888ify my tattoo :) (to be precise, that last four lines of the poem)

  • @winghun pretty awesome tatoo :)

  • great film great potrayal of the truth love this film so much

  • On a pas besoin d'étre un grand homme pour de grande chose!!!!!!!!! Alors suivons Mandela dans son combat !!!

  • So long as there are men that will rise against the crashing tides of racism and injustice and say "No more," there will always be hope for humanity.

  • Excellent film !

Bon reflet sur le progres qu'il a pu faire.

    Mr Mandela !

  • I AM THE MASTER OF MY OWN DESTINY!

  • really,this music is great....great work!

  • Whenever I hear this I always think that we should all be like this song. A world in union.

  • Before we speak of a country, let us first LIVE in that country and then speak . . .

  • I heard my country calling, away across the sea,

Across the waste of waters she calls and calls to me.

Her sword is girded at her side, her helmet on her head,

And round her feet are lying the dying and the dead.

I hear the noise of battle, the thunder of her guns,

I haste to thee my mother, a son among thy sons

  • Proper version:-

I vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above,

    Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love;

The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test,

    That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best;

The love that never falters, the love that pays the price,

The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.

    .

  • looooooove the song!!!

  • stupenda....

  • this is the song that inspired me as a young rugby player, a truly magical song

  • Does anyone have the lyrics to this song?

  • This is such an inspiring movie. I cried like almost the whole movie, because I wish and dream this to happen to the whole world. Extremely fascinating!

Mr Eastwood, this was a great movie, really good.

  • I love this song!!

  • an absolute masterpeice. Hollywood actually made an African movie which truely captured the good and bad spirit of Africa but left you feeling happy for all South Africans. Great job Mr. Eastman

  • It takes a special kind of person to forgive the people who put you in jail for 27 years.Mandela is a truly remarkable and inspirational human being.

  • Ironic that they set these words to a tune that was originally a song about militant british nationalism...

  • Comment removed

  • @andrewsurtees uh, it was a tune by Holst, to which Holst set a poem that had been deliberatly changed to be non-nationalistic but yes, patriotic about all of the fallen in the first war. If you find any inference ot specifically British nationalism it's one line in the second verse - the one that is never ever sung (most people thnk 2nd is "and there's another country" etc but thats the 3rd).

This setting is about moving on from history; it;s a good anthemic tune. there is no irony in that..

  • @andrewsurtees So What. The song "I Thou to Thee my Country" is beautiful too.

  • @andrewsurtees : maybe the tune was originally used by nefarious peopl with nefarious ideas.. but ca u dent that the tune s great?:) as are the lyrics...?:)

  • @andrewsurtees :@andrewsurtees : maybe the tune was originally used by nefarious peopl with nefarious ideas.. but ca u dent that the tune s great?:) as are the lyrics...?:)

  • @rnb8588 "Her sword is girded at her side, her helmet on her head,

And round her feet are lying the dying and the dead.

I hear the noise of battle, the thunder of her guns,

I haste to thee my mother, a son among thy sons."

You can rehabilitate a song to a certain extent, but "Deutschland uber alles" isn't going to become the Israeli anthem any time soon, and this is just as bizarre.

But yes, as everyone's said, the tune is great. That's not what i'm questioning.

  • @andrewsurtees lol fail, you're wrong both songs were derived from The Planets, Op. 32: IV. Jupiter, The Bringer of Jollity. world in union is slightly different but has the same tune , vow to thee my country has words to the same music. love all of them though

  • @hanros98 Yes they're both derived from Holst, and again, good tune, and well done Holst.. "Lol fail" is a bit strong though. This song has enormous inherited connotations, and they're all related to British Imperialism. My point was that August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben also wrote an excellent tune, that has since become tainted. I'd argue that Holst's work has in this case done the same.

  • Did PJ Powers actually play in this movie singing it or was it an actress lip-synching? I saw Invictus on TV Shack and could not tell cuz of the pixels.

  • love this song. love the movie

  • I hate the way they portray the Boks as no hopers coming from literally nowhere to win the WC, the Boks have over a hundred years of dominance, and the 95 squad was loaded with legends. Os, Joost, Joubert, Andrews, Small, Kruger et al were truly outstanding players. Just wanted to get that out there.

  • I honestly had never taken the time to completely understand the game of Rugby until watching this movie... I am not a fan of "football / soccer" as Americans are more physical... But Rugby is definately a really cool sport! Without determination, physical strength, mental strength and support... you will never succeed. It is a great TEAM sport!

  • Quite amazing how the melody was adapted from Gustav Holst' "Jupiter" Theme. It's so beautiful! Great movie too! =D

  • The power of rugby always wins... as an Englishman, every one wants to do us over, and to beat the Wallabies of the Welsh is always a great moment. Enemies on the pitch, but always mates you can have a beer with after the game. It's a game at the end of the day, and for 80 minutes it's about passion. After that's it's about brotherhood, and respect that you whatever colour shirt or skin you have, you got on the pitch and had a go.

  • Great movie, But... should have got PJ Powers and Ladysmith Mambasa to have done this song for the soundtrack....

  • Wow, this song has caught my heart completely... So much that i want to perform it!!!

  • Totally remember how it felt when the Springboks came out of nowhere...un-effen-believable...my gosh I miss the World Cup, effen-aye I miss this song!!! LOL!

  • just love this song and the movie 10x

  • Mandela was a terrorist. I don't care about his "noble ideals" - we all deplore racism and he isn't unique in that - but he murdered innocent people. If you want to lionise him for murder, go ahead but acknowledge your own culpability and lack of morality.

Sth Africa today? What a shining beacon of freedom and tolerance it is.... NOT!

  • @ChomFa That is so true, however he did manage to do an amazing job compared to what is going on today. maybe we could get an "terrorist" like him to fix the USA, I would be happy. Sometimes we need to put peoples past behind them and let God deal with it and love more.....and yes todays South Africa is not a pretty place as Racism is still strong just towards the whites or coloureds left...but he did show us the possibility of a great nation!!!!!

  • @ChomFa

What u said was partly true. Not many people can be like Mandela, who change the route after he'd done and take a peaceful route.

and no matter what he'd done, he served his sentences.

  • This song supposed to sound like Jupiter from the Planets Suite?

  • @YamiChibi Oops, I meant to write "Is this song..."

  • The great lyrics and tune.

    this is a good movie!

  • things are verry different in South Africa now compare to 1994...these days its all about the goverment and officials fraud,bribing,rape,murder,hi-jackings,farm murders from the pour till the verry top!

    Ethnic Cleansing...white genocide!

  • I wish the situation in South Africa was as harmonious as in 1995, when they won the World Cup. This movie portrays the joy off all the different races back then brilliantly.

  • @LotteCM - i fully agree with you. I love mzansi

  • If you see a black person in the middle of the road go over him otherwise the dead will be you...that was the first advice they gave us when we visit South Africa almost 40 years ago; I am so happy to see a great country that I love so much living in peace in multirracial harmony.. Great Song and great Movie...wishing all the beautiful people of South Africa the best luck in the upcoming soccer world cup.

  • @sportimes i hear you fella, long live the spirit of south africa, a nation and continent that strives to be better but is screwed by there own governments, lets see how the world cup goes and see if people will support the continent of africa

  • É um dos melhores filmes que já assiti, ficará com, certeza, para sempre na minha memória. Congratulatios Mr. Clint Eastwood and Mr. Morgan Freeman !

  • FYI, the music was composed by Gustav Holst.

  • Mr. eastwood, nicework. this movie is great.

Mr. Mandela, you really lighted the darkside of politics and racism..... you are great. Your fight for democracy reminds me as a Filipino; how our Jose Rizal fought for it too though your ways and time aren't the same but your goal ,to free your people.........its owesome. I love you all........... VIVA FREEDOM! "i AM THE ,MASTER OF MY FAITH, I AM THE CAPTAIN OF MY SOUL"

    SAY NO TO RACISTS!

  • @gampisfc I am the master of my fate =)

  • @gampisfc It actually ends I am the master of my fate, I am the master of my soul.

  • no one dislikes rygby it is illigal . good luck all blacks in next world cup altho i want wales to win

  • @gampisfc

if got a other opinon of Mr. Mandela

But at the end i agree,...

    No racism!!!

We´re a nation of all colours, we are proud of that and we will work hard on our problems.

    great song^^

  • @gampisfc Please remember it is BASED on a true story, if u ask most white people living in south african for 10 years before and after this happend they will tell u it was very differnt. The dates and everything. He wasnt even in power long before the world cup, only about 1 year. But dont get me wrong what he did was great.

  • i love that song so much!!

soy el amo de mi alma, soy el amo de mi destino....

  • That's a marvelous movie!

... soy el dueño de mi destino, soy el capitan de mi alma...

  • It's good to see the Americans finally understanding the power of Rugby.

  • @MDCVFIF proberly thought that the was football with out the safety gear

  • hardly surprising as american throwball is the most tedious sport known to man.

  • @MDCVFIF

Not that they don't. Otherwise they wouldn't make Piennar looked like he was trying to miss tackles after tackles in the movie.

A bit they cocked up big time.

  • @vinniechan lol, I thought I was the only one that picked up on that!

  • @ajit87

I do love seeing the Boks and the Bafana Bafana supporting each other. Such a heart warming sight :)

  • @vinniechan what the heck have bafana bafana got to do with this!? I am a union fan first and foremost, it's what I played as a kid, I'll have you know my school never played soccer! lol, I do get what your saying though :)

  • @ajit87

Did u no their football association got invited to watch the Boks, and the Boks in turned got invited to watch the football in the World Cup? :)

  • Jupiterに似ているんじゃなくて元は惑星って曲にあとから歌詞をつけたんだよ。

    それに順番でいったらこっちのほうが先。

    World in Union

  • Invictus -

    Strong, Intelligent, Great, Beautiful

    Divine.

    Eastwood to Oscar!!!

  • @rogeriocom needs more than just an Oscar
