I got to go on a tiger cruise on this ship back in 1989. I slept where the crew slept. Ate where the crew ate. And got to be at the Helm. We left Pearl Harbour and arrived in Long Beach 7 days later. They even fired off a few rounds from the 5 inchers and the sea whiz.
@johnpetroschek Hell, you weren't missing anything. Between the DRR Cafe messdecks and the 'lounge' factor in berthing, I'd rather spend my time there. Plus, most of the really 'good' first-classes didn't hang out in the pre-chief lounge...

Too bad that thing didn't burn out. I was there in 94 when it was "changed" from the crews lounge to the first class lounge.
