My friends have CBs. When they talk on 14 low, I can't understand them. I can go to 13 low and hear them fine, but I have to go to 14 low to talk to them. What can be the problem.
@David279300 Engine noise either enters the radios through the power cord or the antenna. If you remove the antenna is the noise still present? If so a power cord filter such as the new one made by RF Limited can eliminate noise quite well.
@cbradiomagazine.. Im also having trouble with engine noise. My testing reports says "sounds good loud & clear" but with the truck running, im still getting engine noise. I first thought it may be my ground wire, so i moved that to the frame rail (bare metal) and im still getting the noise. Do you have any advice or recommendations?

Those functions don't effect RX or TX only meter funtion. Most people will leave the meter set to S/RF for normal operation.

What is the best setting for the S/RF, SWR, CAL switch for normal operation?

@David279300 most people leave it in the S/RF position during normal use.

Orange wire for conversion is located on the solder side of the board,
