Loved this song when i heard it way back in 79,i was hooked little bird, lucky numbers1, great memories, in her life she did have a job in the movie industry one of them was doing screams for horror movies or french movies lol, inspired :)
@RayaneHikari Real Goths would be long gone; Visigoths, Ostrogoths, Alans, Vandals, they originated from the Island of Gotland long ago. Oh, you mean the horror show vampire addicts in black. Lene definitely is the mother of that.... yep, and she's way better at it. Originals usually are, while copycats have no originality, and worsen as time goes on.
Goth Schmoth. She wasn't "goth". Why does everyone label any music from this period as goth? Do you even know what the term means? Cocteau Twins are apparently "goth", too (rolls eyes).
Saw her in the 80s at the ANU in Canberra, Australia, and was lucky enough to meet her after the show: she was exhausted. Told her I loved her :-) Not sure what the big bald guy thought. Where is she now - when we need her?
@timothymartin - Classic! The 'Big Bald Guy' was Les Chapell; the wrote music together and he was her life partner (still is as far as I know). She did some work in 2005 with Hawkwind. But yep, she's still active music wise. (BTW - I loved her, too, LOL) her year was 1979 - without a doubt. Brilliant and highly unique.
in 2005 she released an album titled "Shadows and Dust" on The Stereo Society. At The Stereo Society site you download rather long samples, at least two minutes, of the songs.
I think Lene is a very lovely, sweet, gorgeous woman... so much energy and talent... I really hope she's ever going to do some sort of a comeback... or... that one of the songs will be used for an ad and enter the charts again, thus create an way back in... What about supporting the Pretenders or Blondie or something like that? I mean, her kids are young women now and she and Les would sell out....
why did she speak with a heavy Russian-sounding accent when she was from Detroit--anyone know why? Kind of like Martha Stewart, who is from New Jersey.
More like a German accent I think..anything sounds better than a detroit accent..or any other american one for that matter...anything that is, apart from my accent...
I like Lene and this song, but it just struck me watching it now that she seems a bit like a whacked out Kate Bush (who I also like and isn't exactly, eh, conventional)
i high school i listened to a cassette of stateless till nothing was left on the tape but hiss, today 25 years later i listened to stateless all day on my ipod thank full it will never wear out
Somebody told me one time, if you find yourself with people you have just met find out how they feel about Lene Lovich, Nina Hagen and Tom Waits - if they have no idea who you are talking about or especially if they think they are crap - Just save time and leave these are not people you want to spend much time with or energy on and I think it's true

This song was written by Jimme O'Neill of Fingerprintz. Apparently he originally offered it to Suzi Quatro to record, but she declined.

Transylvanian style and sharp, punchy sound to match.
Very 'tight' live although somewhat empty sound in this ideo.
