As far as I know she was skating only TWO YEARS before that. Isn't that nuts? She was taking gymnastics before that though, and was planning on making that her goal. Anyway, if you go to Webshots/Davespectral - You will see some shots that I took of Sasha, when I met her at a local skate clinic. It was a THRILL! Thank you for skating! I know how tough it can be. If you read my YT bio here, you will see how much respect I have for the people who do it!

You can see the artistic flair even at that young age. Good arm positions and great extention on the spiral and a good little footwork sequence for one so young and with only two years of experience.

guess what, today was my last day of junoir high and my student teacher and i were talking about all of my fighure skating lutzes and salchows, because she is my school ice skating student teacher, and she said that she was a figure skater at age nine and she went to school with sasha cohen, met mirai nagasu, and hung out with caroline zhang, emily hughes, and michelle kwan at her school. they were all figure skaters and they all were successful and hung out together.

Her technical content was not that impressive, other litle skaters do some doubles at that age. But what was really impressive is her determination going into each element, she went for each thing very agressively. And she already had a kind of total package at only 9.

Anyway at that age it was hard to predict her bright future. It all depend on the capacity of learning the big jumps. And until the skater starts working on it and see how it improves, it's hard to predict a future career.

It's because she didn't take the sport seriously until she was 10. Her late start was due to her originally being a gymnast, but her mother thought it was too dangerous so she took her out of the sport and enrolled her in skating. Probably when she decided she wanted to compete she began to train harder to hit the big jumps.

this has to be freestyle 5. I recognize the dance step sequence. I know an 8 year old who's better than she was here. her spiral is straight up and she has up to double lutz. don't get me wrong, I LOVE Sasha! too bad she didn't start younger.
