There's some decent vamps in the innistrad block. But damn this is a sick deck! I'll never hit these cards in boosters and I have no one to trade with :(
I have a B/R Vampire Deck. Vampire Nighthawk is a very good card that should be in any vampire deck. There's a lot more vampire cards now. Lord of Lineage is the one I'm gonna use for my lord in my deck. good idea or no?
Hey i play a similar deck and just a suggestion...bloodthrone vampire is a 2 drop and it gets +2/+2 when you sac a creature works well with bloodghast but just a suggestion
@olegnabunyi 'thinning' a deck is when you can eliminate cards in the deck so you have a better chance of top decking a more useful spell. so a fetch land is a 2 for 1 land draw, because you are playing both the fetch, and the land it fetches. therefore, by playing with fetch lands you thin the deck out of excess land draws.
Why don't people run monoblack vamps? I do and I almost always fair a lot better than r/b. The pro black isn't that big of a deal when you wanna kill your own creatures anyways or black sun can take em out if you really have to.
@botmaster5 I have a recommendation. Take out tutelage, there is to much aggro in the format right now, it's only good against control. side board it.
@darknurd78 If you look at tournament lists, less than 5% of the field is currently playing blightsteel in standard. Against the most popular and most powerful decks, valakut, caw-blade, and boros, gatekeeper of malakir is far too slow.
In the scenario you described there are two problems: you weren't able to win before they killed you with blightsteel, which is simply a speed problem, and you didn't have mark of mutiny, which would have turned the game in your favor.
Have you ever thought about removing the gatekeeper of malakir? I find that while he always kills a guy, the fact that your opponent chooses the creature often limits his usefulness. Even the hypothetical scenario of using him right after your opponent plays one big creature (and only one), like a baneslayer or a titan is a very unrealistic scenario, since most good control players would leave mana open for a counterspell.
@danpennell1768 Sideboard them out against Caw-Blade and U/B Control maybe, but both when you're ahead and sometimes when you're behind Gatekeeper is a fantastic value card.
@darknurd78 Going mono-black also gives you the ability to run hand disruption. ie. IOK/Duress. Since MBS i have re-tweaked my B/R vamps. It will be an upcoming decklist. Sub and stay tuned.
i have a ?? unles i missed this, to me a budget deck is a simi cheap deck that works well, this deck to me looks like a regular money deck that will cost an arm and leg to make, so how is this a budget deck???
@thereaper20000 because at the time this deck was built, you could build the deck for less than $150. which in today's standard play, is very very cheap. and the deck is tier 1 competative.
about how much would this deck cost to buy?...not including side deck?...I was thinking of buying it online, or mabye at my card shop that sells singles...so whats an average price for all these cards?..much appreciated, great deck btw..peace!

why would you have to fetch if you only have 1 type of basic lands? (swamp)
I know lots of players doing that, (putting fetch lands even those who are using mono color deck) been playing for 3 months and still dont know why,
and whats the significance of playing it with those fetch,.. xD
olegnabunyi 9 months ago
@olegnabunyi 2 reasons mainly. to 'thin' the deck and to have more landfall triggers for the bloodghasts
botmaster5 9 months ago
@botmaster5 agree on the landfall for bloodghast,.. but what ydo you mean to THIN? is it really better than just putting basic land?

@botmaster5 I see, I see, now I get it xD
thanks a lot :)

@olegnabunyi not sure if anyone mentioned this, but having a fetch land guarantees that you can get a land every turn if you want or need it

uzagonner 11 months ago
@uzagonner yes, the deck is slated for a video. notable changes are +2 captivating vamps, -1 seer, -1 dark tutelage.
