YOu used to see lots of bands with three guitars going all the time but the way music, especially rock has evolved, is to having a lead and a rhythm guitar and that's it, and maybe some keys to round out the sound. I'm just seeing the Foo going back to a more rootsy(?) rock element. I could ramble forever but I won't. I've just always loved the foo fighters.

I agree, I like Pat a lot but wonder what he's bringing. Maybe they needed a bigger guitar sound? I think they usually tour with an extra guitarist, so maybe they wanted to have another full time? I dunno.

@FoxxieLove100 It is hard to hear each guitar part distinctly I totally agree but I'm super happy Pat is back there. He's a part of band history that I think, even though he hasn't been vital to the success of the foo fighters in the past few years, is good to get back in touch with. Dave has always been pretty good with keeping up his relationships and he's got A LOT of them. The other thing, and back to the copius amount of guitarage there, is that you rarely see bands with three guitars now

i dont see what pat smear does, they would be just as effective without him. I mean look at the verse bit he does nothing and then just plays what dave does during the chorus. Hes also 10 years older than the other guys so it just looks weird when hes just standing there not adding to the music. Thats just my two cents anyway.

I admit dave is an awesome drummer. I mean when he played for queens of the stone age . Songs for the deaf was a great album . And yeah nirvana wouldn't of been without dave but in the same token without the success of nirvana there might not have been the foos ! I'm a die hard nirvana fan and always will be and for me the foos don't compare . And to say that foos piss all over nirvana is I admit any body's choice.. I'm my opinion people need there ears testing !

@MrRatbasher It's worth noting that nirvana and foo fighters are very different bands. Nirvana is grunge, and 90% of its style came from Kurt. Foo fighters is more like classic rock and roll, and because it is so different from Nirvana I wouldn't say that it pisses all over it.
