Also, if the Stripes influence a hundred bands to make music more like them and less like the sampled, brainless, beat-relying poppy trite that flows from popular radio, and creates a new resurgence of guys playing guitars and writing soulful songs, why would you want to discourage that by accusing them all of being copycats? At least they're drawing from a worthy talent. I'll take a hundred bands similar to the White Stripes over one Lil Wayne any day.

You can easily point out the similarities between The Black Keys and The White Stripes, not limited to this song. They are very similar, aesthetically and musically. Their main mistake was in their name being so similar as to draw comparison. They are clearly not a ripoff though, and if you make that accusation, then you have to consider that the White Stripes borrow riffs and do full covers of old songs. Also, Jack White plays in a style that was "ripped off" from old black men. Who cares?

I hate shopping, and I was stuck in a check out line at Tilly's after returning some Christmas shit my parents bought me that I didn't want. The music in that place is usually horrendous, I heard this start up and thought it was nothing. I was stuck in line so I just watched it, turns out The Black Keys are now one of my favorite artists. I hate shopping, I hate Tilly's, I hate waiting in line, but I discovered this great band. Moral of the story? Stand in lines, even if you hate it :)
