  • That doesn't look good.

  • So you did all that work to pop ONE kernal?

  • 2:49 - Congratulations! Your KERNAL has evolved into a POPCORN! Would you like to give your POPCORN a nickname?

  • stop talking and pop the damn corn!!!!!

  • FRICKIN AWESOME!

  • You made and did all of this to pop one cernal of popcorn? I can go to the store and buy a pack of popcorn, that has a whole bowl full of popcorn in it, that u pop in the microwave in less than 3 min. AND is buttered..........................really?

  • sufffcusudcu this made me blind anscian;dlckn[owdSANC :)

  • Hey whats the range in which this could burn someones eye out? because i have some , err..... buisness to take care of

  • ok, reasonable priced home lasers... only 600 dollars...

  • GREAT SCOTT! (back to the future)

  • 1 of 524 corns.....

  • I want popcorn 😝😝😝

  • guess. what scott you can also do that in your microwave

  • @gamebeast1818 with hot glue? make your complements more detailed

  • you can either make a bowl of popcorn in 2 mins in the microwave, or 2 hours individually popping the kernels with lasers :P

  • Isn't 1 watt enough to blind you off the wall?

  • AAA-MAAA-ZIIING!

  • You sound like a child molester.

  • You are talking like you talk to IDIOTS!!!

  • Im only 1 min in the video, but imagine doing this to every singel popcorn.. I think your date would be bored after maybe 3..

  • But who'd eat popcorn with hot melt glue?

  • This explains why cinemas charge so much for popcorn.

  • ill take some pop corn;)

  • told u not to cross the beams

  • i want popcorn!!!!!

    i watch mythbusters too

    :D

  • can i hav a popcorn

  • please can i have some laser popcorn

  • What type of eye protection is needed for this? Obviously, you wouldn't look directly into the laser, but what about reflections off the corn?

  • @wasabullfrog2 Hello, one needs to wear OD4 laser safety googles covering 445 nm light (OD4 corresponds to a sufficient level of vision protection for a 1 watt laser in close quarters). Search on my newer laser popcorn video, "Arctic Laser Popcorn" where I show the type of goggles needed.

  • @WorldScott im looking into 2000mW lasers, do you know what kind of eyewear i need for this? also any good sites for lasers over 1w?

  • i feel like im in school again

  • id still eat it :)

  • i think u should make sure there is no exes hot glue before u eat it or you will get sick or...YUCK! THIS TASTE LIKE [BEEP]!

  • no thanks id rather take 2:30 seconds to wait for a big bag of popcorn instead of the same siz but takes an hour wuts the point but its still cool

  • MMM hot glue lol Thats amazing :)

  • Mmm... let me try lazer popcorn!

  • i want lazer popcorn

  • Disco ball made of corn please?

  • i want popcorn! lol

  • Or... Put it in a microwave...

  • i like popcorn not with clue

  • now this is true fun! :D

  • i want popcornr

  • NOM NOM NOM

  • i want popcorn

  • The lasers required to pop an entire bowl of popcorn must use up a lot of energy, since a lot of it is lost due to efficiency loses, more so than using a microwave to pop popcorn, or a popcorn maker. Wouldn't it be easier to use a popcorn maker? Plus you can pop a bunch at one time, instead of one at a time.

  • Now I have a use for my artic.

  • i hungry for popcorn now because of your video

  • i just ate the pop cor n

  • I just ate popcorn

  • I want popcorn!

Also, what if you used a handful of DVD drive lasers to heat a thermally conductive bowl to pop several, not just one, kernel?

  • Need popcorn !!!!!!

  • eh, not in the mood for popcorn

  • Give me me my pop corn-=-

  • When you glue the popcorn its not edible. But good video and great way to make popcorn.

  • i want pop corn

  • sorry i have bad aiming :)

  • Ahhh, practicality(:

  • Why would you want one popcorn with hot glue on it ??????????

  • ME

  • YOU ARE A NERD!!!MAN!!!!!

  • FUCK MICROWAVES i will just use an arctic spider 3

  • I want porn

  • I want popcorn please please

  • whats the point if you only have one popcorn, and its suck to glue?

  • @henhen7890 the point was to show that yes it is possible for someone of a nerdy bent to pop popcorn at home with lasers. I actually did an updated version where I made it without glue and ate the popcorn. You can find the updated version by searching YouTube for 'Arctic Laser Popcorn'. Thanks.

  • mythbusters already tried this

  • @xeeweexRC actually they didn't really. The University Lab they engaged for the show did it with a ridiculously expensive 10 watt invisible infrared laser. This demonstration was performed in my home using easy to acquire visible lasers.

  • @WorldScott well actually it wasn't invisible, if you watched the clip it was a violet laser, and besides from that, they still kinda popped popcorn with a laser. :P

  • @xeeweexRC it wasn't purple. The laser was invisible. What was purple was the screen connected to the camera showing where the laser was. Other than the fact that laser light popped popcorn there's hardly any comparison here. A well funded University lab with expensive equipment doing something is not equivalent to a laser hobbyist at home doing the same thing.

  • @WorldScott i guess so but, laser+popcorn=popped kernel, they used a LASER to POP THE POPCORN, even though, where do you buy those lasers frm??????? and for how much?

  • @WorldScott where can I get such a laser?

  • just about 300 more kernal to go!

  • Next time do butter. Not glue

  • @lolzersdsi :-) there has already been a 'next time'. I used a cookie to hold the kernel of corn. Search on YouTube for "arctic laser popcorn" to see that video!

  • i want popcorn!.......damit..,so stinge!...

  • or you could use a microwave

  • muito legal, não sabia que podia ser feito com tanta facilidade, hehe

    abraços do Brasil! \o/

  • only 900 more to go hurry up im getting hungry dont forget butter and salt

  • @rolficus excellent comment! LOL!

  • 2:25 Don't cross the beaaaams!

  • @MrMerlinsBart Yes Egon! LOL!

  • @MrMerlinsBart why?

  • i want the pop corn good video

  • "Let's Make popcorn with lasers" haha

    good video

  • @CincinnatiBallers Thanks! "haha" comments are the best! :-D

  • I want popcorn

  • Thats a powerful laser!

  • @Rexar4living yes indeed, they both are powerful 1 Watt lasers! :-)

  • @WorldScott Wow, how much did they cost?

  • @Rexar4living as I recall I paid about $250 to $300 for each one but I had my hosts custom made by jayrob out of flashlights. You can probably find a decent one manufactured in China for around $200.

  • @WorldScott Thanks!

  • lol

  • i will hawe some popcorn! :)

  • i would like popcorn

  • i want 200 buckets of popcorns, please !!! how long did you need for this...

  • @TiTanAEfull about 24 seconds. So if we say that each bucket of popcorn has about 200 kernels in it then 200 kernels x 24 seconds = 4,800 seconds for 1 bucket. So to find out how many seconds for 200 buckets we multiply 4,800 seconds for 1 bucket x 200 buckets = 960,000 seconds. What is that in real time? 960,000 seconds = 16,000 minutes. 16,000 minutes = 267 hours. 267 hours = 11 days and 6.6 minutes. Can you wait that long?

  • @WorldScott It Yeah , it is faster than the post office

    ( wow, math is fun :) )

  • @TiTanAEfull No joke, math can be seriously fun. I figured that out some years ago when I needed to do some spacing of lights for a cool toy I was making for myself and had to use some ninja-level math to help me. I know it can be boring to learn but once you know it, it's great to be able to come back to it and use it when you really want to!

    -Scott

  • @WorldScott you right ^^

  • microwave more powerful than laser........

  • @LUXXXable indeed, by orders of magnitude! Thanks for your smile inducing comment!

  • what the power of the laser plz?

  • @daforiu 1 watt for both lasers but a pair of lasers that have as low as 600 to 700 mW of power will also work. Cheers.

  • Yes I would love some popcorn!

  • i wat popcorn :D

  • "lets make popcorn with lasers" haha

  • @TheSOURoctopus That just sounds funny, doesn't it? LOL!

    Thanks for your comment!

    -Scott

  • I was half expecting you to pan to the studio audience applauding at the popcorn, infomercial style.

  • @godulous yes, almost like Bubba Sparxx's video "Miss New Booty"! That would be funny!

    Thanks for your comment!

    -Scott

  • Yes, three kernels please. Don't think I'll have time for four.

  • @thealaskinwonder ohhhh!!! Super cracking up over here!!!! LOL!

    -Scott

  • That is a lot of work for 1 kernal. If I want popcorn, it will take you about 5 hours.

  • @Network23549 of course who suggested using this single kernel method to produce popcorn? Scale up of course!

    -Scott

  • hot glue...

  • @cotton509 yes, needs work! LOL!

    -Scott

  • @WorldScott :3

  • Why would i tell you if i want popcorn ?

  • @friteza88 mostly to be silly. In reality I just love getting comments from people as I usually respond to nearly all of them. Thank you for leaving a word!

    -Scott

  • Reminds me of the NIF laser system, if only a bit. Cool video :D

  • @Chewytube1 Yes my own little bit of the National Ignition Facility right there on my workbench!!!! LOL!! NIF FTW!

    -Scott

  • Popcorn!!!! :D

  • @Rarara1313 Love it too!!!

    -Scott

  • Hahah, this is cool, I'd prefer sweetened or salted instead of 'glued' though, can't you stick it on the motor with syrup?

  • @neverlab I plan to make another video where it pops without hot melt glue. When it pops the glue doesn't stick to the puffy popcorn though!!! LOL!

    -Scott

  • i want popcorn

  • i want popcorn

  • @Sillyzombie666 Do you prefer it buttered and salted? :-D

    -Scott

  • This idea is made of #WIN

    Great job!

  • @FoamPackingPeanuts Thanks for your comment! If you like lasers I recommend checking my channel and/or subscribing!

    Cheers!

    -Scott

  • @WorldScott I subbed :D

  • @FoamPackingPeanuts cool! May you enjoy the videos I put out!

/me checks your Barney videos... heh!

    -Scott

  • WOW! good luck with that. let me know if you need some help, and tell me when you are finished :D

  • I want popcorn!

  • @Lukis300 :-D I'm now working on the popcorn teleportation device!!! LOL!

    -Scott

  • where did you get the lasers? mmmmmmmm, popcorn...

  • Respond to this video...

@joegadd I actually had these two built for me as flashlight hacks but you can buy equivalent lasers from companies like Wicked Lasers (the best known), Dragon Lasers, O-Like, and Rayfoss. You can get a brand new 1 watt blue laser for under $200 if you look around. I am trying to work out making a video that show how to build a pocket 1 watt blue laser for even less.

    I love Popcorn!!!

    Thanks for your comment!

    -Scott

  • You should try lighting a candle. And/or, mount a candle or stick of wax on your motor and aim your laser at the wax.

Get back to work Scott!!! LOL

    Looks like fun.

  • @sciwalk that's funny you should say that because I was thinking about doing something like that. Spindle forming with the laser either plastic or wax. I will probably try that out. I haven't tried to light a candle with either of the lasers in the video but I should try it out for sure.

Ok, back to work making more videos for me! LOL!

    -Scott

  • Good work, especially on spreading out the heat from the laser by spinning the corn!

  • @mkondel Thanks a lot for your compliment! I must admit that it took a bit of trial and error to figure out how to keep kernels from burning!! LOL!

    -Scott

  • Nice!

  • @Forssa1 Thanks! :-D
