@mkayreagan Very well done! I have my projector set up something like this but that t.v. is beautiful! and the decor is perfect accenting the paint and everything else, good job once again! ;) P.S. Love the mini bar :P
@kingkongwong007 Thanks! I would have to say cleverly hidden. Existing subfloor and attic construction would have made in-wall retrofit very difficult.
it seems to me that when playing any videos, either on youtube, or even in your case, the 1080p TV, the images are not smooth, and are kind of choppy. Is this natural? just curious. one day i would love to have a hometheatre!
Extremely elegant yet cozy setup for a HT. Fancy, but not pompous, a dream come true for the average man that is not really an audiophile. Just the fact that you care so much for your husband to go after such trouble should already make him a happy man - which I am sure he is. Congrats from Brazil.
@ohitsdan It was SOOOO worth about $15,000 with all the equipment, materials and new furnishings. We use it all the time for sports and movies; also my office area, so not a single-use room like a dedicated theater. The granite counter was a splurge, but we plan to stay in this house til they drag us away to the rest home :-) Thanks for your kind comment!
There is a HDMI cable that runs from the receiver (in cabinet) under the rug then behind the back wall up to the projector and a cat6 cable that runs the same way back to the router. The speaker cables run along or under the baseboards. I used plastic channels that blend in with the woodwork where I could. Due to the construction method used, I couldn't run anything under the floor or thru the attic. But it looks pretty good for a DIY job.
what a woman....I just got the Onkyo 808 today...it's in the mail...I'm definitely going to save my pennies for the Aperion speakers...the cherry veneer is nice!
cool room....but I gotta take points off for the Giants memorabilia....Go Patriots!!!
That is awesome. I am wanting to do something very similar in my basement but it's going to to cost a pretty good coin. The researching is driving me nuts though.
That is amazing! I especially like the refreshment bar. I'm going to copy your idea except I'll want a 24" fridge instead. Where did you get the granite remnant?
You should really do something about those windows... curtains maybe?(no offense in your way of design or anything, but I could see how those windows could mess up the lighting and all)
@Just4Th3Lulz I shot the video during the day and with the lights on, but we use the big screen mostly at night. It works fine for us with just the plantation shutters.
@lestat34208 Only two people. It's a screen, not a TV, so it's lightweight. I mounted the 4 hanging screws on the wall. Then a (big male) friend helped me hang the screen.
What ikea cabinets are those and countertop? I've been searching and searching the ikea website and can't find anything remotely close to what u have there for your little snack bar..thanks!
I wana build something like this for my room wich is made only for home theater but im still wondering how much was the budget for the decour? I have all the equipments i want in the room i just wana remodel it/paintjob so it dosent look like a cable mess lol and put some rug on the place then ill be happy
I recently set up my own home theater room and it came very similar to this. I would love it if you could send me the links to the pieces you used the beverage cooler and the microwave cabinet for. It would be extremely helpful! Nice room ^_^
This room looks amazing! We are going to be adding a Media room to our home as well as another master suite. I love this color with the white gloss trim! Great Job!
@GreenArrow1616 I assembled the IKEA cabinets around the beverage cooler I bought online. Then I bought a granite remnant that the local dealer cut to size and installed for the countertop.
My wife and I moved into our first apartment in December and I had cables installed into the false ceilings, as I new I would be buying a projector. Finally got my projector on Saturday afternoon and haven't stopped smiling.
Our living room HTC is humble though and I will aspire to own a home with a "bonus room" one day. like yours.
I've read excellent reviews about Aperion speakers - nice choice. 7.1 puzzles me for an entertainment room though, since most 7.1 streams in movies are really upconverted from 5.1. Still, the room has an incredible atmosphere!
WOW, i dont think anyman is as lucky as your husband for his wife to do this for him, if only everybody was like you and had a tasteful choice or decor as well.
Roughly whats the projector bulb lifetime in hours?
$5,500 for decor & furnishings, except the sofa we already had. Theater-related components and cherry console were about $9,500. So total for the project was about $15K.
Love the room! Curious what are the room dimension? I am considering converting a 12 x 19 bedroom into a media/home theatre. Wondering if a a screen your size can fit in a 12 x 19 bedroom. Any advice?
It's about 17 x 19. The most important factor in choosing the size of your screen is how far you will sit from it. There's a formula to use so you won't to be too close or too far. Check the manual of your chosen projector. Our sofa is 11 feet back, perfect. Our room is as deep as yours too. Good luck!
LOL!!! Women who've watched with us love it. Shows like American Idol & Dancing with the Stars are very cool at 100." Not to mention ALL chickflicks ;-)
Thanks for your comment! The paint is Sherwin Williams' Toasty in flat finish. Yes, I did have the granite attached to the cabinet tops, for safety, stability and also for a real built-in look. I even cut the base moldings to fit the toe kick. Doesn't look DIY even when you see it in person.
its nice to see someone use a real screen once in a while. Most people skimp out here, and really lose picture quality. Good choice with the stewart screen.
That's us and thank you so much for your kind comment! - Mary Kay
