Agree with you on the old mk1 997s. Even though the old 997s kicked the M6 on the Isle of Man street circuit. The new one MK2 is a different story. I used to race a rs6 on my way to work when i first got my mk1. It was pretty much even, which was down to weight. But when we got down to braking i was all over him.

Something ain´t quite right with this race because I have done the same race with my M3 E92 against my brothers 997 Carrera 2s (100% stock he bought it new). When we raced from 50-250km/h and 100-250km/h ours cars were very equal every time we raced. The only difference between the two cars were 2-3m at very high speed (235-250km/h) not even close the huge distance in the video.

M3 Convertible go beaton because of its weight, almost 350-400 kg heavier than the 911 S Convertible, partly because of the steel roof. On hte other hand the M3 is a great coupe as well and not a flimsy soft top ;)

In Australia the Bmw M3 starts for $157,000 (coupe) in Australia the M3 is almost fully loaded with stuff standard and the price of the porsche 911 turbo is $334,400 standard and you have to option everything.So that is a difference of $177,400 with adds up to even more then twice the price of an Bmw M3 and even the Carrera S is $220,000 and as you can see on video slower as well as it has the same issue with options as the turbo.Don't get me wrong Porsche is a good car but it is not worth it.

Its funny people asume because somthing is fast on paper its faster. Not always the case! Iv beaten a Ferrari 360 on a few runs a while back in my M3. Main reason being it was a manual 360! Also the M5 vs Lambo they are at speed - so the Lambos 0 - 62 time (its edge) dosnt count for much on the speed run.

In the other video I see the e60 M5 beating the e92 M3 by 8-10 cars and in this video i see the e92 m3 beating the 911s by 8-10 cars. I know bcause I have an E60 M5 and ran against a friend's standard 911s from 40-140mph and managed to beat him by about 4 car lengths.

The ONLY reason would be if the M3 is a bit of a porker compared to the Carrera, but their power to weight ratios are nearly identical, so the extra torque of the V8 should give it an edge at speed. I don't know why everyone thinks this is so "fake."

Yes. Also, people beleive a manual 2004 Gallardo 500 HP is like a 520 HP Gallardo with E-Gear; it's not and that orange Gallardo was not the fastest we ran. But all 500 HP Gallardos have been very similar; about even with the BMW M5 V10.

It's amazing, because I test drove a 997 carrera s at my local dealer, and was quite amazed by the urgency of it's engine. The fact that the e92 m3 is quite clearly faster, just helps to augment my enthusiasm for BMW's.

Drive the new BMW M3 V8. Not only 300 minutes. Drive it hard for 24 hours, then you will love it. I used uo 6 tanks of fuel just driving around randomly. It is not the fastest in the straight line but it is lovely to drive all out with M Dynamic mode; in the dry, in the wet. I had so much fun driving the 6-speed manual BMW M3 E92.

What is more interesting is that, according to calculations, when u compare peak turning force at a wheel to 997 gt3, is that e92 M3 turns rear wheels in 2nd gear with 9400N peak force to 8500N of gt3, 3rd gear: 6200N to 5975N, 4th: 4761N to 4712N, 5th gear: 3972N to 4100N, and 6th gear peak force is 3498N to 3680N for the 997 GT3. Sure GT3 holds its "peak" force longer (over RPM band) but is still an interesting comparison.

I can say my M5 did fien against the 997C, that is for sure.

The BMW M3 was more even and I was impressed at 260.270 km/h the acceleration of the BMW M3. The 8400 rpm redline is lovely at 5th gear; hits the top speed limiter there but it has a very nice pull those last km/h.
