@juuonse you might want to do the same. definition of atheism = a belief that there is no god of any sort. belief = Something believed or accepted as true, especially a particular tenet or a body of tenets accepted by a group of persons. religion = A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion. So an atheist does have religion based on those definitions. Definitions which I did not make up.

I admit, one defition of religion can be " a pursuit or interest to which someone ascribes supreme importance: consumerism is the new religion." But by that definition we could apply it to anything we consider of utter most importance; human rights, working social and economical community, healthcare, etc. etc. etc. so saying atheism is a religion that account doesn't really get us anywhere. Nor would it be very accurate

I don't believe in santa claus, loch ness monster, spaghetti monster, thor, shiva, etc. etc. So me that is a no brainer. NOT a religion.

Incidentally if Christianity did not refer back to older times then there would be no need for Jesus to instruct his followers to tell the world about the Good News since the world would not have any basis on which to understand the message.

I guess that makes the Sun's core sextillions of times colder than the hottest known temperature. Anyway
