I have, of course 2 grandfathers. One, a former romanian officer. The other one, a former Luftwaffe pilot. My romanian grandfather, a Romanian Royal Army leutnant (at the time), was ashamed for being forced to fight against his german mates. there is no romanian troop in this video. these are german soldiers in winter cloths. if u look from 00:9 u can see very well theire helmets, at 00:12 u can see that soldier making at typical german battle sign with the arm goin up and down. also my guess is that this is not even stalingrad considering the nature and the type of trees. my guess these are german troops in the ardenne offensive, but these are definetly not romanians

@themagnussons The Romanians on the front didn't represent Romania. Somebody should have given Legionars a chance to fight Bolsheviks. Instead of letting them fight for country they were thrown in prison during both Antonescu and Communists. Legionars' spirit was no less then Waffen SS spirit. Even after Bolsheviks occupied Romania they went into mountains and kept fighting till 50's.

Trupele romane din Stalingrad nu au fost nimicite, am pierdut lupta din cauza ca soldatii erau nemancati de zile intregi, camioanele cu provizii nu puteau trece prin noroi. Nici munitii nu aveam. La un tun de artilerie erau in medie doar 300 de obuze, echivalent cu 3 gloante

Rumanian Air Force also did well, & a bunch of our P-38 Lightings returning from Ploesti & flying at low altitude through the Carpathians during their return to Italy were jumped by some Rumanian IAR-80s & most of the P-38s were shot down.
What really surprised me was Rumania's refusal to the USSR to send its troops into Czechoslovakia in 1968. That was very courageous & unbelievable!!

well like I said I've recently found some information and stories about how Romania was kinda dragged into the war, and then on the eastern front they had to work side by side with the germans trying to achieve the same objectives with less adequate weapons and stuff and when they had to hold the line at Stalingrad they hold out for an entire day against the Red Army, so no, I wasn't being sarcastic, I was, AM really sorry, and 'll try not to jump into discussions without knowing everything

perhaps because most of the Russian casualties were inflicted by the German, Finnish, armies. Maybe the other west-european countries who had fascistic regimes and sent a couple of divisions saw more frontline action then those Romanian troops. The flanks held by Romanians were obliterated by artilery fire during one of the heaviest cannonade of the war. then the T34s rolled forward to complete the rout. Romanians were poorly armed& didnt stand a chance! to put things into perspective, ROmania was a young a prosperous nation back then, but most of the wealth came from agriculture and oil, there was no industry and all weapons had to be supplied by the Germans. It was a victory fairly won by the FUKING SOVIETS (by the way: fuck them!).

Am avut o portiune de front enorma, de 300 km ! Nemtii nu ne-au dat nici macar armele care trebuiau livrate pentru petrolul care practic l-au furat de la noi, iar asta dupa ce au dat jumate de Transilvanie la unguri. Multi soldati erau moral distrusi, isi stiau glia in maini straine si in plus aprovizionarile elementare, de care se ocupau italienii si nemtii, au fost inexistente.

Multi soldati erau moral distrusi, isi stiau soarta in maini straine si in plus aprovizionarile elementare, de care se ocupau italienii si nemtii, au fost inexistente.Aici Antonescu s-a aventurat fara cap...a fost o mare greseala.

Romanian soldiers may have had outdated equipment, but that's where their Nazi bosses came in. In addition they were a hell of a lot more motivated than the German conscripts. Poor little Antonescu lost his two best divisions at Stalingrad.

My romanian grandfather, a Romanian Royal Army leutnant (at the time), was ashamed for being forced to fight against his german mates. there is no romanian troop in this video. these are german soldiers in winter cloths. if u look from 00:9 u can see very well theire helmets, at 00:12 u can see that soldier making at typical german battle sign with the arm goin up and down. also my guess is that this is not even stalingrad considering the nature and the type of trees. my guess these are german troops in the ardenne offensive, but these are definetly not romanians

He always hated communism and always said the Russians are far worse then the Germans and he was right! he made many German friends during the war and after that cursed day 23 Aug. '44 he never shot any German soldier, he simply couldn't... was almost killed cause of that. I'm proud of him! He remains a hero to me.

@themagnussons The Romanians on the front didn't represent Romania. Somebody should have given Legionars a chance to fight Bolsheviks. Instead of letting them fight for country they were thrown in prison during both Antonescu and Communists. Legionars' spirit was no less then Waffen SS spirit. Even after Bolsheviks occupied Romania they went into mountains and kept fighting till 50's.

Pe langa ce aveam noi, care majoritatea erau facute dupa modele germane din 38', mai avea si artilerie grea nemteasca 100%, model 42', la care rusii doar visau. Trupele romane din Stalingrad nu au fost nimicite, am pierdut lupta din cauza ca soldatii erau nemancati de zile intregi, camioanele cu provizii nu puteau trece prin noroi. Nici munitii nu aveam. La un tun de artilerie erau in medie doar 300 de obuze, echivalent cu 3 gloante

Rumanian Air Force also did well, & a bunch of our P-38 Lightings returning from Ploesti & flying at low altitude through the Carpathians during their return to Italy were jumped by some Rumanian IAR-80s & most of the P-38s were shot down.
What really surprised me was Rumania's refusal to the USSR to send its troops into Czechoslovakia in 1968. That was very courageous & unbelievable!!

well like I said I've recently found some information and stories about how Romania was kinda dragged into the war, and then on the eastern front they had to work side by side with the germans trying to achieve the same objectives with less adequate weapons and stuff and when they had to hold the line at Stalingrad they hold out for an entire day against the Red Army, so no, I wasn't being sarcastic, I was, AM really sorry, and 'll try not to jump into discussions without knowing everything

you lost millions and millions and even more millions of troops russians and i heard from my frined told me his granfather was in the red army and there was about 4 guys on the front who had rifles the rest didnt have if one of them died you had to pick it up and continue if you didnt your officer would shoot you..

perhaps because most of the Russian casualties were inflicted by the German, Finnish, armies. Maybe the other west-european countries who had fascistic regimes and sent a couple of divisions saw more frontline action then those Romanian troops. Romanian troops were seriously lack'n of the equipment, morale and just a soldier spirit. And so what if the romanian were given the 'honor' of defending the german flanks at stalingrad history has proven that they did one hell of a shitty job!

The flanks held by Romanians were obliterated by artilery fire during one of the heaviest cannonade of the war. then the T34s rolled forward to complete the rout. Romanians were poorly armed& didnt stand a chance! to put things into perspective, ROmania was a young a prosperous nation back then, but most of the wealth came from agriculture and oil, there was no industry and all weapons had to be supplied by the Germans. It was a victory fairly won by the FUKING SOVIETS (by the way: fuck them!).

@gebele88 Imediat dupa "inceperea pierderii razboiului" trupele SS au dat o lectie rusilor la Harkov. Diferenta fata de Stalingrad era spiritul trupelor SS care nu au fost implicate in acea lupta. Romanii nu au avut soldati cu spirit patriotic ca Legionarii lui C.Z.Codreanu.

Am avut o portiune de front enorma, de 300 km ! Nemtii nu ne-au dat nici macar armele care trebuiau livrate pentru petrolul care practic l-au furat de la noi, iar asta dupa ce au dat jumate de Transilvanie la unguri. Multi soldati erau moral distrusi, isi stiau glia in maini straine si in plus aprovizionarile elementare, de care se ocupau italienii si nemtii, au fost inexistente.
