It was actually the mud and very poor strategy which led to it being a massacre of the french army. The constant arrows didn't help either hahaha

i got this game recently and i noticed that in custom battles, i can only upgrade weapons and armor to level one. Is this how the game is made or is there a way to bypass this?

I know you guys are probably going to look at me like im an idiot, but I am honestly hopeless at this game. Ive played the demo a few times and never won a battle. Agincourt is utterly hopeless and Otumba is impossible. I do the best at Pavia, but I still get crushed. I hear people are saying this game is too easy, which makes me feel like a tactical retard. I watch videos on how to beat them, but it doesnt help. Its like the my soldiers are too weak. Can anyone give me some advice?

@LotusDragon09 agincourt you basically stand there dont move anything around and press fire at will. you should win then..

I did set mine to easy though.

Maybe the demo is set to medium or hard ? i dont know.

@zenoist2 Possibly. I cant see where to change the difficulty setting, so I dont know. In Agincourt, eventually I get flanked, so I try to prepare some troops for that. If I just stayed where I was, id get decimated by the ambush cavalry.  Well, ill try what you and see where it takes me. Im sure ill figure something out eventually. Hopefully the full game is easier, because aside from the difficulty, this is a really fun game.

It might have been a thing you do when its first installed.

I know I had an option and picked easy which seems to have now gone.

Buy the game! its great! I love it for the cinematic possibilities when you save a battle.

Do you get an advisor with a demo? Select all troops ctrl and A and have fire at will enabled.

Keep them all fire at will.

Press enter to deselect them all.

Your advice worked! Aha, I feel accomplished lol. I had to tweak it a bit though. I had a couple archer groups fire flaming arrows and I moved the heavy bilmen on the right side of the rear lines over to where my general was. Then I faced them and 2 other groups behind to better protect themselves from the ambush cavarly. Overall, everyone stayed relatively in the same spot. A lot of casualties, but I won :).

This frontline fighting portrayed is not very accurate, in reality the French were all squashed together in the order of 4 men per square metre. And I don't see much mud.

There was not flanking knights, this is unhistorical invention in this game. They did surprised me first time and killed the king. Next time i was prepared and they were cut to pieces. But still unhistorical...

@urmo345 True but in fact when news came to the English that the baggage train to the rear had been ambushed and massacred, Henry V, believing they were being attacked from the rear, then ordered that all the hundreds of French prisoners be slaughtered in case they rearm themselves with weapons strewn across the field in such an event.

Use your archers to take careof the infantry.Focus any swordsmen or spear sergeants on Henry's rear flank. Makesureyou target the french generals when they are close enough, you can attempt a morale win this way.

@MoonRayII well i take my armored swordsmen and put them where the horses flank u.put ur main infantry in front of ur bowmen and keep an i on the armored swordsmen,send more infantry if needed.havent played in a while but try it im pretty sure thats what i did.hope it helps.tell me if it does. :)

use all of ur knights to charge on the front enemy while all of the right and 2 of the left yeoman assist them with torched arrows....use the billmen,ur king and the other yeoman for the ambush force...

just need to use your head mate, the great tactical leaders had all sorts of tricks up their sleeves.. hence what made them great.. so your best bet is to either flank them or counter their attacks ^^

I tried this battle, got my ass kicked. I usually held off the first wave of men but then when the second wave rushed, their generals cavalry attacked my general from behind, glad to know the level is beatable though =/

I actually figured it out...it's kinda simple...you have to have some infantry guard the rear because late in the battle, the second French army comes.

But even that, the muddy field was supposed to slow down the charge of the knights(at least that's what happened in actual history).

i couldnt udnerstand how to beat this batle, eventualy i decided to put all units behid the wod staks on the right side and then i put all my melle units in front behind the stakes then archers behind them, then my king and his bodyguards. The stakes protect u from the calvary and all u have to worry about is the infintray, which u should use ur archers to kill them. this workd untill the calary flankd me, then i lost liek 1/2 my troopsi won this battle with like 30 units remaining it was crazy

it is not hard, you just need a certain software, anyways, thomas when you return to quebec city tell me if i am right, this game is edited into 5-6 games because i heard them say only half the enemy forces remain like 5 times in a row.

the battle i did is more harder with the custom battle editor cause the french charge in 1 wave with full cav and unit ( more intelligent) it is harder cause in the original game ( no mod) the battle is easier cause the french charge in like 2 or 3 wave easy ) cause u have the time to kill wave by wave the ennemy and no u are not right i did 1 battle

but it is more accurate when they mass in 3 waves, because in real life, the french charged unorganized, and those from the 2nd and 3rd wave came to the first and they got so crowded that they could not move their swords, and they got killed swiftly, plus right as they were going to back out of the fighting, the 2nd and 3rd wave plunged right into them and trapping them, so the armies of the french cavalry commander jean made a failed attempt to flank the british to save the infantry and he died
