The completion was scheduled too late prior to drilling allowing high pressures to build up below the bridge plug. Not only that the bridge plug was set too high to allow adequate fluid to kill the well. The bridge plug had no equalizing valve as well. They were pretty much set up for failure. There would have been no way to stop the blow out.
@Arathae: Doesn't make sense for a good oil rigger from alberta to be looking for work in SK. Don't they have enough work there to keep everyone and then some busy?
I have pics of the aftermath of this well... the tubing looked like spaghetti... I know some of the guys that were working on this rig, I am glad that no one got hurt!!
@rockadilly33 Not much you can do but put the redwings in gear, and wait till it blows down, and hope the tubing dosent hit somthing to cause sparks & a fire, been lucky never had the tubing leave the hole, just big messes. Had freinds who had a simular incident ,with a packer and stripping bowl & rubber valve in the tubing closed, when they relased the packer the rubber didn't relax as it was supposed to,while waiting on the packer to equalize it all came to see em.
Real rigs dont have wheels boys. should have thrown in the stabbing valve and called snubbers the second you seen the joint float or bled back to the testers tank someone not paying attention guys like you hurt Tong hands like me. Get it together boys
It is called unsetting a bridgeplug with out a K-valve. You have no idea what pressure is underneath it that way.
Just pay more attention to setting them where you are suppose to and don't drop rags on them. When the pipe is coming out of the hole at 100 miles a hour all you do is run.
I do question your comment on "real rigs don't have wheels". Ingersol Rand's RD 20 has enough technology to drown your travelling blocks and elevators is a sea of mud while they tear out and move on to the next site.
stabbing vavle wouldnt have helped. there was no equalization valve on the bridge plug so as soon as they un latched the bridge plug dies the prssr pushed all the pipe, bridge plug included, up the hole. the company has since invested in a bridge plug with an equalization valve to allow the them to even the pssr out before un latching the bridge plug. dont speculate on some thing u know nothing about. know the facts first.
Congrats, maybe there was too mush pressure to put that stabbing valve on? Don't be all high and fucking mighty. You were NOT there and dont know the circumstances.
LOL! carrot puller rig? well only the extra special retards work on the diggin rigs.. u think cause yer irons bigger yer smarter?.. Diggin rigs r fer fuckin retards!

Just asking an honest question here but wouldn't a stabbing valve be redundant if the pipe was being push out?
