Single ended. My hair had started dreading underneath the fake dreads - but I think that maybe if you take them off after 7-8 weeks your own hair wont be hurt (I had mine for about 12 weeks). 10 cm I think will be long enough.

- no problem at all. I just use normal shampoo, and then rub it in at the scalp. But I don't wash it that often (one time a week or so). I don't really do anything else to take care of them (except sleeping with a ponytale). If they get too messy you can always seal them with hot water again. (but you might need some help so you won't burn your scalp ;D).
