Looks kool but ahmm our people brought in someone with the Allen and Heath system like this and it never ended well to say the least and this was an international program broadcast, I dont think its wise to not have actual console or control surface. Sure you set up scenes but i been in IT long enough to know that shit happens. Sure save your scenes but have a physical board.
Steve did a Tesla show then the next morning I brought my SAC rig and we did 4 bands on the fly. With the F-Key set up to your needs, you can move faster around on it then most boards. I had 6 monitor mixes and Steve was at FOH. There is a post at the SAC forum about that gig. And it's typical of SAC user to mix on the fly and each show is never the same. Also keep in mind you could have as many remotes going as needed. 1 for the aux returns another for sub group and yet another for ..on and on.
A nice rig if you're not in a rush when mixing. That thing would be disastrous for the types of gigs I have done with huge changeovers and only line checks. Way too slow to get around on, though I hope they keep pushing this tech. A great rig for bands with the same show every night but not so much for the needs of a production company.
@jsbaudio Ive moved from analogue to this SAC system and work primarily as you do, lots of festivals and events with multiple bands. This SAC system is a life saver! I have multiple mix scenerios saved from rock groups, country, rap... etc. simply recall the mix and all my eq, dynamics and settings are just as I like for that style. It doesnt get easier...
Observe how long it took just to mute the channels, how much effort the guy had to put into aiming his finger at the wee buttons, and the way the screen didn't pick up on the button presses every time. This system seems to require a lot more concentration just to work the interface than a good old fashioned console with physical buttons. Theres a good reason the headliners weren't using this system :)
But yeah, pretty impressive groundbreaking technology, 10 years ago.
At the time it was his first outing with the 3M and only about 19 dates with SAC. Now it's a different story. Use of Latch channels to control (like mute) whole groups at a time. Other features like Scenes provides a great number of short cuts. Key board short cuts until your brain pops. Accessing the channel strip controls is a lot quicker after you've had it under your fingers awhile. Still there a lot on mouse user with SAC who get around very fast.
@duthies Actually, he (for what ever reason) chose to individually mute each channel. But, with SAC (I am a user) its easy to highlight every channel and kill them all with one touch of a mute... The flexability kills any analog console... Add to it all the digital benefits incuding plugin capabilities, extensive dynamics control... You get the the point. The only reason that headliners dont use this system is because they have to justify the 1/4 million spent on equipment...
UNBELIEVABLE, in one word, I just met with Robert Lentini last week for a demo, I run an Audio School here in Las Vegas and I am actually working on trying to get the SAC system here, this is unreal, most of my instructors here are FOH guys here at casinos and they are middle road on this, possibly scared but this is an incredible system I cannot wait to see more youtubes on this system, way to go keep up the videos
You got to be impressed with the size compared to the Scorpion's FOH. Of course, without the lights and video. But with 48 channels and plug-ins going at only 14-16% of the host being used, not bad! There are a lot of users are up to 64+ channels and a number of remotes going off of one host. You should call out to the forum and asked for someone to bring a system to come to you. You might be surprised.

It may be small and light, but ergonomically, I would much rather work on an actual physical console.

Are the Drums triggered? On the recording and/or live?

@JewishFever Everything you hear with Tesla is live! Really! Steve is one of the top live drum mix guys I've heard.

$1500 USD for the 3M 22 inch as seen. SAC only has drivers for the 3M
