There are very few people in this world who can be called truly respected and admired as quality men in this world speciall among the so called celebrities these days, these two are probably two of the very few men who are respected not only because of the way they play the game or their fame but for the men they are, great but humble ! Kipling's poem is probably one of the best pieces of art ever produced and only if we could all learn from it the world would be a much happier and content place
Thanks for uploading! I've been trying to find this video everywhere. It is very seldom that a poem is read by someone who seems to truly comprehend its meaning. But when it occurs, it really reaches into the soul.
Here's an idea for all the Rafa haters.... Just don't watch him if you want to rip on his English. He's Spanish you nit wits. Maybe he should only speak Spanish, then you could never hear what he's saying. How would that be ??
Two of the greatest athletes and rivalries of our time, reciting one of the most powerful poems ever written that ever so precisely and eloquently define character of an ideal being. Absolute poetry.
I can remember sitting in my living room before this final begun, listening to this. I'd never heard it before! even someone like me, who doesnt really care for poetry can see the brilliant in this. Genius poem, spoken by truely gifted individuals.
wonderful poem, i think im very lucky cause i live in the same generation of this two monsters and even more lucky cause i could watch the game between them gofd bless them.
@gtfcblacky Its not about the quality of the reading its the fact that these two guys live their lives by these words. Very few people could have read this poem and have it tie so closely to the way they live their lives. This poem is perfect for them, if doing what is said in the poem makes you a man then Rafa and Federer definitely are men
one of the greatest poems and seeing those words as you walk out onto center court must inspire them beyond belief. Nadal does his best at reading, his English isn't perfect but even English people don't get much right these days. (Including me) Give the guy a break and focus on what they are saying. Beautiful poem read by two of the greatest players of the most beautiful sport on the earth. :)
A very inspirational piece from my most favorite ATP players - Mr. RF and Mr. Rafa. They are both very good. Mr. RF achieved the highest rank which he really deserves to be. A rank by which each and every player is dreaming of. Same goes with Mr. Rafa..he proves that he can be lined with the greatest tennis players of all times. They might have a rivalry in ranking but for sure, these two guys are really GOOD friends. I'm very happy watching them both....
I love this poem!! but they missed out one stanza.... "if you can make a heap of all your winnings and risk it it one turn of pitch and toss, and loose it all, and start again at your beginnings and never breathe a word about your loss...."
@Elwink Nadal didn't have the same privileged Swiss upbringing (or an English-speaking parent for that matter) like Federer did. He does his best, actually he adds to it
@clicklipstick you mean privileged that for Fed it was easier to learn english? Yea, agree it's tougher for Spanish. Good that you like it, I would have prefered two versions :-)
@fabastonmartinoneill oh c'mon I speak spanish fluently, it's not my fault or Roger's that Nadal just have time to exercise his left arm, and not to learn a languages that he certainly needs.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;
