That's a bit off, Madonna's debut album started off very low on the Billboard 200 and didn't start to rise high until late 83 and then early 84.

In 1983 "Holiday" was a hit and then later in the year "Borderline" started to take off.
This is in 1982 after her first single "Everybody" was recorded. She didn't have her actual WB deal yet.

By that time she had refused a contract with Columbia. She had meat a DJ would introduce her to Warner. Before they accepted to sign her, they would go to see her performing. This is one of these performances. They obviously though she was quite interesting. Her story is an amazing adventure.

Funny how people try and call her talentless yet here in her FIRST ever actual performance she gives a good vocal despite NEVER having any vocal training prior to this. In her first ever proper appearance she sang better than 90% of today's younger stars ever have or ever will live on stage. And to think that clueless 12-16 year olds are all over internet music messageboards saying that Rihanna and Miley fucking Cyrus are more talented than Madonna. So sad.

Madonna like Jackson is a product over the over hyped 80`s no one will ever remember a Madonna song for its amazing composition lyric or anything to do with music. They will label her however as an icon of the era. Could never write a song like running up that hill for all the number one`s sell out concerts record breaking albums ect.

Madonna Rocks! most haters on here are usually guys, they can't grasp the total impact this chic has made on the music industry and pop culture itself, most everything you see/hear today was because of Madonna, even rappers pay her props and female entertainers can only applaud with envy even if they don't like her, not many people witness history, like when Elvis was around or the Beatles were together, we are doing it with Madonna, its mythological. 25 years on top, thats talent/balls

Her voice was amazing. That was such a great performance. She is beyond talented. I was born in 73 and I can tell you I grew up in the 80s. She made those moves up herself. She has been such a fabulous role model to grow up with. She made being sexy ok which with out that, my life would have sucked! Now being 35, she is still such a role model to me in my life. Bless her Star:)

It is impressive to see how Madonna has evolved as a performance artist, and I find most amusing to see here one of her first presentations, specially after watching the DVD Confessions of a dance floor. She is without a doubt the superstar of the pop music.
