Mr. Buckland belongs behind a desk not in command of a ship of the line..although the circumstances of his "first command' were less then agreeable(a understatement lol) but still he shows very little of the quick thinking , making the hard decsions quickly and staying in control of himself that this situation would've shown
It does not make sense to me that after everything he's heard, Pellew still thinks that the case against the captain is thin! He tortures his crew for little or no reason, takes drugs, he gets them aground, he gives them rum in the middle of the day, he runs around blaming people for non-exhistant plots, he gets many killed and is having a good time doing it, he imprisons three of his officers because one got naked, he shoots Lt. Hornblower .And Pellew thinks Horatio should have more???? Right.
Man, this series was amazing. Why, oh WHY, didn't they make more episodes? I read that Ioan Gruffudd would still like to make more "Hornblower" films, and I, for one, would definitely watch them.
@FlippinBooks It would be interesting to see him in command as an Admiral wouldn't it? I wonder why they quit? Too expensive? Wasn't it very popular when it came out in England?? And to only have eight episodes seem silly.
dude ur awsome!!! it finished on a cliffhanger and yet all i have to do is to click the nxt movie on my right to find out wot happens. thanks cos i hate waiting lol
@edavismookie25 Rich people spoke with elegance maybe. Normal folks, not so much. Also, such "elegance" as you call it, is ineffective and redundant, and actually limits what a person can say. So, for instance, a situation such as what happened to the Renown may be complicated by an inability to fully articulate what is happening. No joke.
Indeed; I don't know why, but I watch those two episodes more than any other.
Possibly because of the three fantastic gentlemen all together in it; Kennedy, Bush and Hornblower are only ever together (All three of them) in these two :3

People spoke with elegance in those days. Their words really came alive so to speak. People don't talk like that anymore and that is a shame.
