Maybe the joke was in poor taste, but so what. It was still funny. And besides, Summers never said anything chauvinist. Sexist? Maybe. But as an economist and data-driven intellectual, he may have had reason to believe that one of the reasons there are far more men in math and science is because of the way the male and female brains are wired. He may well have been wrong, but just stating that claim doesn't automatically make him 'bigoted.' It's not like we can't see some sex differences.

A woman named Lilly Ledbetter who claims this 'insider' got her address, gave her info about the pay gap, and claimed he KNEW that there was pay discrimination. First of all, how could she have trusted this random letter from an alleged whistleblower? I'd be a little suspicious. Was the letter on company letterhead? Did it have printouts or scanned pictures of male employees checks? The Supreme Court case information doesn't tell us much, so we can't really make a good conclusion.

They make silly claims about how "women are discriminated in the workforce all the time" and that EVERY instance of a male-female wage gap is automatically b/c of discrimination. They pass laws to "fight pay discrimination" despite the fact that there were ALREADY 4 strong laws on the books to do this. They believe a woman who only got the info about "pay discrimination" from an alleged "company insider", whose identity was never revealed, so we don't know for sure if he really is one.

Larry Summers was correct in his assertions at Harvard: most females do not test as well as most males in math and science. There are numerous reasons why this phenomenon exists, but the fact remains that Summers' statement was accurate.
