  • Joe Berrones, one of the first pioneers in America to take on barefoot running...in 2007! Wonder what I would of thought if I saw this then.

  • good god that news chick is hot!

  • this video is inspiring and since watching it i have transitioned to vibrams and realized how crumby i was running before.. thanks barefoot Joe!

  • I heard a story about how the modern day running shoe with all the heel padding started, didn't it all start with the nike trainers that there founder (his name escapes me at the moment) wanted to make the stride length longer, which is a good idea, but too land on your the most bony part of your foot wasnt a good idea in the first place so he gave the 3 inches of padding to help prevent that, plus inventing a whole new industry in running shoes (im not bashing nike, i wear nike flats to run)

  • Proper...?

  • thiers lava on the floor forget it man run right through it

  • That professor now has Dr. Lieberman's study to look at!

The proper footwear is no footwear!

  • horace has got both his brain and facts in line

  • Professor has it backward. The running shoe companies need to prove that their products are beneficial. Until they do, logic dictates that we must continue with the time-tested option: running barefoot.

  • @horace3123 - Word!

  • Awesome! Ran my 5k road race today barefoot. Slow, but 5X times more fun than other races I've ran with shoes.

  • I love his attitude. He says to forget avoiding glass and run right through.

  • Correction. He says he's able to run through glass. He's the man. haha. awesome.

  • Take a well designed system, and remove the feedback - let's say by placing a layer of rubber between the sensory organ and the running surface - and the system will go out of control, even at the risk of damaging it's own joints.

Remove your footwear and you WILL run more gently - because you will learn how to run the way you were designed to run.

    LEARNING is the key...

  • I've now run multiple 5Ks barefoot. Probably running 4 miles tomorrow. My favorite terrain? Asphalt. That's right. I've run over it all and the street is the best!

-Barefoot Sal, North Hollywood, CA, USA

  • @comedianhost

My favorite terrain is definetly the forest! Especially wet mud! Feels nice stepping into it haha. Asphalt is so boring and predictable.. and being in the forest is nicer overall ^^ But I like to run on all terrain, much more enjoyable with different things.

But forest is the best tho :D

    Barefoot running ftw!

  • that professor stated "propor footware". he admitted himself that he's biased since he's seen no detailed analysis information contrary to the opinion he has. hey, folks, experience is the best teacher. just try running barefoot. i tried it. i love it. it has helped my health in many ways! so many ways that it is blooming obvious that barefoot running IS what i find the advocates proclaiming. i just tried it and now i love it! notice the critics have not tried it and the advocates have done both

  • Nice dude! I run barefoot too. Don't know about running through glass though haha.

  • I like running and walking barefoot. I feel really aware of my body and I don't worry about the ground. I avoid glass, and little rocks get stuck sometimes but they fall right off. No worries. I go over all sorts of rough pavement. Some of it feels like sandpaper and I wonder how my soles are. They are fine and don't look the way I think they do. I can run pretty fast, too. You got to be open minded and trust yourself.

  • I love your charisma. If I were to try this I worry about nails or sharp metals.

  • Our feet were made to run, but NOT on concrete and asphalt.

  • or on broken glass

  • They were made to run on rocks and branches? IT HURTS ANYWAY!!!!

  • yeah, because those materials are so far from the materials we see in hot, african barrens

  • Humans were also made to adapt, one of our finest qualities, so concrete and asphalt we can adapt to

  • Cool, good for you. I used to it on a highway close to my house about 5-6 miles every other day. Occasionally I would get blisters, but I felt it made me stronger in the long run. I think it was my stride affecting my feet.

  • that black lady in the beginning needs to shut up, she has no idea wut shes talking about running barefoot in 10X better for you and and never have any problems, or at least i havent

  • Barefoot Berrones

  • joe its ur dude from panama

  • Nice attitude Joe, you explained things well. Is your "virtual" trail run a barefoot favorite? I enjoy being in the forest much more than asphalt and concrete. The variety of textures is amazing. Snowfooting is great fun when you get used to it.

  • cool man, your on tv!
